I reviewed the customer's concerns with the service consultant, the Jaguar technician, and *** *** The estimate given to the customer for the seat repair was based on our technician's prior experience with this type of seat repairThere are several companies that publish time guides
indicating the estimated time that it may take to perform a certain repair operationThese are estimates and recommendations and do not always reflect the actual time it takes to complete the operationNo repair facility is obligated to perform repairs based solely on the guidelines of a third party publisher or an aftermarket warranty companyAdditionally, we often times approach the OEM manufacturer (including Jaguar) for additional time above the published warranty time due to circumstances encountered with a repair operation

We did perform a complimentary visual inspection of Mr***'s vehicle which does not include any removal of any covers or parts including the missing timing belt coverI tried to explain this to Mr*** and he called me a liar and demanded that we replace the partWhen I offered to
order the cover at his cost, he informed me he would be contacting his attorney and I would be hearing from him
Kempthorn Motors did not remove this coverMr***'s vehicle is a ** *** with 99,miles on itWe have only worked on his vehicle on two occasionsOn 3/13/14, we replaced a lug nut for him and a fuse for the accessory power outletOn 3/26/14, we performed a complimentary visual inspection of his *** and replaced a tail lamp bulbWe have never performed any service repairs or mechanical work to this vehicle

The cover was removed by someone between the time my car was serviced there and now and no one else has looked at the car. I am unsure why a timing belt cover would just go missing. The covers were missing after visiting Kempthorn Motors. There is no other way the covers could have been removed. I am 100% positive they were there prior to my visit. I am mechanically inclined enough to know when a cover is and isn't on the car.

Attached is a copy of the repair order where a complimentary inspection was performed and a rear bulb was replaced. This inspection is a visual inspection that does not include the removal of the three segments of the timing belt cover. In reviewing the case with our Master [redacted] technician, he advised that in order to remove the center and lower pieces of the timing belt cover, the lower crankshaft pulley assembly along with the idler pulley would need to be removed. This is a substantial operation and would require much more time than the approximate 40 minutes total time that Mr. [redacted] and his vehicle were at our facility. Additionally, this is not an operation that would be performed by our technicians that work in our Service Express lane. Quite simply, we did not remove the timing belt covers on Mr. [redacted]'s  2003 [redacted].
