In response to Mr***’s complaint: Mr*** was not promised a one week turn-around. Due to the nature of our business withvarying lengths of time required for different projects, it is our companypolicy that we do not promise turnaround times. However we do
offer time windows and do our best to complete a projectwithin that timeframeAs for the damage to the valve cover: When Mr*** specifies the valve coversas “unique”, I would agree they are unique, however, at the same time they areover years old and made of thin sheet metal. He claimed in his complaint that both valve covers were “perfect”. Although I would agree that they appeared ingood condition, his claim that there was no chance of rust is false Mr*** told me they were powder coated 15years ago. This gives ample time for corrosion to occur, butmay not have been visible due to there being powder coating on one side andsilicone gasket sealant on the other. Every precaution was taken in the stripping of these valve covers We even took extra care to chemically stripthem to minimize media blasting. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, a hole was worn in one smalllocation.During Mr***’s second visit to our shop, he was shownthe damage. We discussed the issue forto minutes in an attempt to come up with a solution. During our conversation he seemed to beunderstanding of the fact that the damage was not due to negligence on our part. He even made the comment that, it wasn’t ourfault and it wasn’t his fault. Wediscussed that he had called and got pricing on the cost of replacement valvecovers. I told him that I would contacta corvette shop that we do business with in the area in hopes that they wouldhave a replacement, which unfortunately, they did not. As he was leaving, he instructed us not to doany further work on his project and to expect a call from him within the nextcouple of days, with further instruction. When Mr*** called a few days later, he said that hewas going to just pick up the incomplete job. When he arrived, he took his parts and left without any complaints andhas made no attempt to contact us directly with any complaints. Mr*** stated that we did nothing on ourpart to show good customer service, which is not true. We did not charge him anything for blastingand told him if he found replacements, we would put them in immediately to helphim out in his timeframe.I admit no guilt in this issue, and I am very disappointed thatMr*** chose to discredit me without coming to me first. I will agree to pay the requested amount of$under the condition that Mr*** agrees to remove ALL negativeremarks and reviews about Champion Powder Coating and Abrasive Blasting now andin the future. *** ***,Champion Powder Coating

Review: For starters, this business seemed very reputable, did my research, made a few phone calls, and was ultimately recommended by another local business. This particular job involved coating 2 unique valve covers from a bone stock councours 1974 corvette big-block with 14 hold-down tabs, 1 thermostat housing, and 3 misc brackets. Initially Spoke with [redacted] who promised the job would be done in a week which was perfect because I had a few shows coming up and wanted to get the car ready. After not hearing from them after one week, I decided to give them a call. I was told that they were "shooting" satin black and would call me once the job was completed, BIG RED FLAG! A few days later I received a call form [redacted] who told me that while sand blasting one of my valve covers, they blasted a hole in it, REALLY! He went on to say that they had tried to fix it and though it didnt look like the other one, it should be OK. I advised him that I would have to come down and take a look, also advising that he ( they) not continue with the rest of the job. The next day I arrived at the shop and [redacted] came out with the damaged valve cover saying that they had welded and / or put JB weld on it, at that point I was furious partly because 1. it is against the law to perform repairs on any part or vehicle without a customer consent or verbal authorization, none was ever provided, and 2. they failed to notify me and let ME decide on if I wanted the part repaired or replaced. For all of you car guys, valve covers leak WITHOUT alterations, this one would definitely leak, AND cosmetically didnt look anything like the other one, needless to say, I was livid. Im thinking this one would have to be replaced WITH an original one. [redacted] then said I would have to but a new set, yes, ME! I asked what, if anything, he would be able to do as far as compensating me for the damaged item, surprisingly enough I was told that, " we never know whats under paint, and if this was our fault, we would work something out". First of all, both valve covers were perfect and had been previously powder coated several years ago, ie, not a chance of rust . Lastly I did read Champions disclaimer of " all parts would be subjected to 400 degrees and abrasive blasting, Champion is not responsible for damage caused by this temperature. There is NOTHING in their disclaimer citing that they would NOT be responsible for parts damaged during blasting. I would NOT recommend this place. Bottom line is they wanted me to pay for a new set of valve covers, AND pay exactly what they had originally quoted me for the entire job, somethings wrong here. Im thinking, ok, maybe thell give me a break on the job, nope, NOTHING!!Desired Settlement: Champion Powder coating cites that they provide exceptional customer service, truly a false statement. They did NOTHING to satisfy me, lied to me on the turnaround time, performed repairs on my part without my consent, and left me with a damaged item.Their disclaimer does NOT cite anything about customer liability to abrasive blasting, only to extreme temperature.I am asking for the replacement of one of the valve covers they damaged plus half of the shipping cost totaling $181.50
