Champion Window Company of Albany Reviews (15)

Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below We are not looking for a refund, just don't think it is fair that we are paying interest on something that we don't have 100% complete as of 8/2/Completion certificate, which we were not given, but the finance company sent us, states received all materials , which obviously was not true, and was not shown or stated to us or we would not have signedWe have spoken to the finance company further, and they are looking into this as well for us Regards, [redacted] ***

Unfortunately there were some quality issues with the screens fitting into the molded channels of the extruded window frame, as well as some extra material which was not sanded down on the welds of the window However, we did immediately schedule our Service Technician for days after the original installation to make the necessary adjustments which were completed in one day We would have preferred to have received these windows in a condition requiring no adjustments so as to deliver a superior customer experience, but we are glad we were able to swiftly respond at the local division level to quickly rectify the issue We did also have an error in the caulking that was used on the interior of the home, which was an unpaintable silicone caulk In order to make this right, we completely removed all trim and caulk that was originally used and installed all new trim and caulk to all the homeowner to paint We do apologize for the inconvenience and we would prefer to have a completely smooth installation We do hope our customer can understand sometimes mistakes can be made and we did swiftly correct these mistakes once identified Champion will of course honor the warranty included with the windows according to all terms, conditions and time frames, and we do expect these windows to bring a lifetime of satisfaction in energy efficiency and aesthetics

This letter is In response to your inquiry dated 8/31/17.The screens in question are scheduled to be installed on Monday, 9/18/It is against our policy torefund any moneys after completion certification was signed off.If you should need further information, please contact us.Patricia [redacted] Office Manager [redacted]

Champion has communicated with our customer and have agreed to the followingWe will remove the dumpster immediatelyOn Monday 6/we will cover the remaining two walls and cover two other problem areas, wrap the four front windows, and drop off trim for the customer to stain so that we can install when we finish up the sidingPer conversation with the customer, our siding crews are booked for a few weeks, but we will communicate a start date as it gets a little closer to finish up the jobWe will be using the full crew to ensure the job gets completed as quickly as possible, weather dependingThis will be the same crew who started the job, but will have two additional workers including the crew leader to ensure everything goes smoothly

*** just an update for you. I have been waiting and have not heard from Champion. Our family room has been ripped apart to remove the wet and moldy paneling and sheet rock that was damaged by Champion during there construction. We have a wedding coming up at our house and the work needs to be done. The electrical problem we mentioned has been taken care of so Champion need not reply the this matter any more. Much to my surprise and without notice the Champion electrician that did the work showed up yesterday at our house. I told him the work was done and he did not need to do anything. I was a little angry for them not calling ahead to make an appointment. As we stand now the only thing I want repaired is the skirt around the sunroom. It needs to be taken down and a shim installed to even the J-channel to the fascia board. This has nothing to do with expansion as they mentioned. The job should take no longer than hrs to repair

The customer was notified twice that the local Champion office was waiting for a response from the corporate office on her request to cancel the contract and purchase the materialA message was left today around 9am for the customer to call us back to discuss the option of cancelling the contractOur service tech has completed most everything that was asked for and needs one final visit to the property to wrap the last couple windows, which will be completed as soon as possibleWe are also waiting the dumpster company to reply regarding the scrapes left on the customers driveway and will communicate that information as soon as we receive it

25. Champion will be scheduling another inspection of our customer's roof this weekThe rain storm that occurred in June was actually a severe thunderstorm that included winds in excess of mphDuring this storm, some of the customer's existing siding blew off of the home causing water to infiltrate at the connection point of the sunroomChampion resealed the flashing at the connection point and reinstalled the existing siding for the customerEverything was wet as this repair was made shortly after the thunderstorm making it difficult to tell exactly where water was penetrating fromWe will do a second inspection to determine the source of penetration and make any necessary repairs needed to stop the leaking that is attributed to the construction of Champion's sunroom. In regards to the large gap between the installed skirting and 1"x6" piece of composite trim board, this gap was installed intentionally in compliance with the industry standard for installing this brand of composite trimA gap of 3/8" to 1/2" of inch was left at the time of installationThis gap will change in size with the expansion and contraction of the composite trim and vinyl through the seasonsOur customer signed a Certificate of Completion in May after the installation of this skirting and trim board declaring he was satisfied with the installation of the sunroomWe did inform him after we serviced the lock on his sunroom we would not be replacing the trim board or skirting as they were installed to industry standardWe would be willing to replace either or both for a service fee.Sincerely.Josh B***Division ManagerChampion Window Company Of Albany,LLC

We were quite surprised by the lack of accountability on the part of ChampionThey seemed to indicate that there were only two problems that needed to be addressed with the windows besides the incorrect caulking being used which caused a host of problemsThey never mentioned all of the other problems which I will address hereEvery window has a lift - not sure if that's the correct termIt is the part of the window you hold to lift the window upEvery one of the lifts on the windows was so sharp that they had to be filed downI found out how sharp they were when I cut my finger on one of themIn one of the bedrooms the window was extremely difficult to slide up and downEvery screen on every window had to be trimmedThree security locks were glued shut and had to be replaced. The lack of communications with this company was terribleIt took forever to get a call backThe attitude of the district manager was "well we fixed it, so why are we upset"None of this should have happened in the first placeNot after paying close to $to them for these windows

We have received the screensI have also paid, minus the interest accumulated while the job was not complete

The plan of action offered by Mr. [redacted] was acceptable in part: i.e. the wrapping of the two exposed walls, new quarter round and removal of the dumpster. However, the time frame to complete the job was not acceptable after already waiting over a month and then to wait, at minimum, another 2 week was not acceptable. I sent Mr. [redacted] the attached response and he agreed to send a worker to encase all the windows and was looking into having a release document drawn up to release us from the siding contract. The dumpster was removed but left behind another mess (see attached with pictures). The two exposed walls were wrapped but not all windows were finished. I haven't had an update on the progress in almost two days.
