On 10-13-an estimator met with the customer and after checking his roof gave him an estimate to repair two pipe collars and area under a front window The costumer signed the proposal and the work was completed on the 19th of October There was no report of any problem with the repair for weeks and there were several rain events On 12-9-the customer called the technician to report a leak Our technician went to check the new leak which was approximately 6' from the pipe collar which had been repaired Unfortunately the customer didn't call the office until 12-23-so we were never aware that there was problem The office contacted the technician and asked him to call the customer to set up a time to investigate the leak This was the start of the Christmas holiday and our company was closed until after the new year, as it is every year When the customer called the office it was our hour answering service that was taking the calls, since the office was closed It is unfortunate that all this has happened to the customer but the work that was performed in October was not poor workmanship those leaks were repaired We have set an appointment with the customer on 1-14-for a senior technician who has been with the company for more than yrsto check the new roof leak

A call was placed to [redacted] at 7:am advising her that the office is closed and that I would be trying to get in touch with [redacted] today -- As of 11:am we are on the way up to house to check at out leak -- thank you

Basham Landscaping just did a large remodel of our backyardThey took out a very large brick patio and lots of debris (over tons!) and laid a beautiful new patio and paths in the yard They were on time every day, worked straight through for about weeks solid (including a Saturday on a holiday weekend), and made our backyard look amazing I highly recommend Basham Landscaping!

I had Basham Landscaping remove a large Mesquite tree from my front yard on 3/31/and I was very happy with their work I called Basham's and they said *** would be out that afternoon at PM and give me a quote He was on time and discussed the tree removal I received the quote via email the next day and I accepted the quote as the price was very reasonable plus the fact that this business is bonded, licensed and insured I received an email giving me the time and date they would do the work They arrived on time and removed the tree without any problems They left my yard in excellent condition The entire experience was very positive I felt they did an excellent job

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I received the response from All American and Revdex.com's request for an acceptance or rejection of the "resolution," but the website seems to be having difficulties and I could not respond.  Per my conversation with your office, here is an update:

The response Revdex.com received from All American was factually correct, but had nothing to do with a resolution to the issue.  As per their response, I spoke with [redacted] in All American's offices and they were on their holiday break as of that morning.  [redacted] did explain to me that the offices were closed until January 5 for the season, but she passed on my message to [redacted] (the salesperson with whom we dealt).  I did hear from [redacted] who came to the house as he was in the area as he wanted to see if he could more accurately determine where the leak was originating, but at that point the leak had stopped and he could not find the source.  I am expecting to hear something back when their offices re-open as to their completion of the job.

My original complaint to you included information that All American had offered to put a layer of rubber down on part of the roof at no charge to us since they had either not properly identified the source of the leak or had otherwise not fixed it (we went with a new shingled roof at a cost of about $10,000, but the leak that was the reason we called them in the first place continued even with the new roof).  So until that job is completed this complaint must remain open.  [redacted]'s response, though correct, mainly addressed the fact that we had discussed the offices were closed for the season and had nothing to do with the resolution, and therefore I could not respond to the Revdex.com's request to "accept or reject the resolution," as there was no resolution to accept or reject.  Again, the rubber was to be laid the week after Thanksgiving, but was not (it did drizzle quite a bit that week and the weather must be dry for them to lay the rubber).  [redacted] had advised the weather must be 42 degrees minimum when the rubber was laid, and then dry for 24 hours thereafter.  But for a few very cold days, there were multiple opportunities to lay the rubber between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  If they were unable to lay the rubber when scheduled the week after Thanksgiving, I would assume that the rubber would be laid at the next available opportunity, but that did not happen.  My request was that instead of trying to "fit us in" between jobs, as that is what is apparently happening, since our problem has been ongoing for months now we felt the completion of our job should be a priority.  As by the time their offices reopen the weather is likely to be very cold and remain that way through spring, we anticipate we will end up with a great amount of damage should the roof continue to leak (which it does whenever there is a strong rain and will likely do if there is a build-up of snow and ice in the winter).

We believe the facts of this case have been distorted in the [redacted]’ complaint.  Our records show that on April 1, 2014 our project manager/estimator, [redacted], had an appointment to meet with [redacted] to determine the cause of a leak at the...

[redacted]’ house and to recommend a possible fix for the leak.  [redacted] met with [redacted] and determined that there was an issue with the way the valley was constructed on the old multi-layered shingled roof, which was a potential cause of the leak.  [redacted] also found several other problems that he recommended be fixed as part of this repair.  [redacted] signed the proposal on April 7 so [redacted] scheduled the work.

The repair as described in the proposal was completed on April 26.  On the evening of April 29 [redacted] called our office (left a message with our answering service) to report that the roof had leaked during the heavy rain he had.  In the morning on April 30 [redacted] from our office called [redacted] to get more details about the leak.  [redacted] explained that he had gone into the attic to try to find the leak point.  His explanation to Ms. Cook was that the leak was in a different spot from the area [redacted] repaired and that [redacted] had alerted [redacted] that the roof really needed a more extensive repair to insure no future leaks, but [redacted] said he did not have the finds available for a larger repair.   [redacted] asked All American Roofing to send someone out to take another look at the roof to see what could be done to fix this leak.

When [redacted], another AAR Project Manager/Estimator, arrived on May 7 he went into the house and [redacted] showed him where the leak was.  [redacted] then went into the attic to try to find the leak point in the roof.  [redacted] determined that the leak was not coming from the valley that [redacted] had repaired but was instead coming from a lower area on the roof where the higher sloped shingled roof changed to a low slope modified bitumen roof.  [redacted] and [redacted] then went up on the roof together to look at the roof exterior.  [redacted] complained that we were not honoring a warranty on our repair.  [redacted] attempted to explain that AAR performs the work described in repair proposals in a professional manner, but we never warranty that this will fix all leaks on a roof.  [redacted] inspected [redacted]’s work and found that all of the work in the original repair proposal had been completed per the contract.

At this time [redacted] pointed out a clean cut in the flashing cement on the flat roof near the base of the valley where [redacted] had worked.  He claimed that this was an obvious mistake made by [redacted] and was careless workmanship.  [redacted] is an experienced roofer with more than 30 years in the trade.  The cut was an obvious one that even a rank amateur would have seen.  The possibility that [redacted] would have made this cut in the first place is negligible and the thought that had would have left the cut un-repaired when he left the house is unthinkable.  We have no way of knowing how the cut happened on the roof, but we deny that it was the work of All American Roofing.

[redacted] discussed the two possible options for additional repairs on the roof to fix the problem caused by improper installation of the second layer of shingled roof (by some company other than All American Roofing) sometime in the past.  [redacted] was going to calculate costs for the two options and [redacted] asked that the written proposal be mailed to him.

There were storm clouds moving in with rain forecasted that afternoon.  [redacted] had some roof flashing cement with him and decided to patch the cut in the roof at no additional charge to [redacted] to try to provide some protection for the house during the upcoming rain storm.

Before [redacted] could send his estimate we received this Revdex.com complaint.  Subsequently, we also received payment from the [redacted] for the repair [redacted] did.  All American Roofing has no plans to pursue more work with the [redacted] at this time.

Sincerely,

[redacted]
All American Roofing

On 10-13-14 an estimator met with the customer  and after checking his roof gave him an estimate to repair two pipe collars and area under a front window.  The costumer signed the proposal and the work was completed on the 19th of October.  There was no report of any problem...

with the repair for 6 weeks and there were several rain events.  On 12-9-14 the customer called the technician to report a leak.  Our technician went to check the new leak which was approximately 6' from  the pipe collar which had been repaired.  Unfortunately the customer didn't call the office until 12-23-14 so we were never aware that there was  problem.  The office contacted the technician and asked him to call the customer to set up a time to investigate the leak.  This was the start of the Christmas holiday and our company was closed until after the new year, as it is every year.  When the customer called the office it was our 24 hour answering service that was taking the calls, since the office was closed.    It is unfortunate that all this has happened to the customer but the work that was performed in October was not poor workmanship those leaks were repaired.  We have set an appointment with the customer on 1-14-15 for a senior technician who has been with the company for more than 16 yrs. to check the new roof leak.

A call was placed to [redacted] at 7:32 am advising her that the office is closed and that I would be trying to get in touch with [redacted] today -- As of 11:56 am we are on the way up to house to check at out leak -- thank you

[redacted] went out to the property and met with  the [redacted] -- this is his response to the issue:I thoroughly checked in the attic under where we installed our shingled roof to see if I could find any leaks.  Did not see, feel or hear anything while I was in the attic during the rain.  I was also told that the leak had stopped - despite it still raining.  I then went outside and looked at the EPDM roof that is at the base of the shingled roof and is what is directly over the leak point.  While I found no obvious leak points in the EPDM itself there was a corner where the drip edge was open (not overlapped with the next piece of drip edge) and there was an opening where water could get blown in under the EPDM and into the fascia capping, which had an opening at its top that was now exposed due to the open drip edge.  I also noted several points along the drip edge where the EPDM was loose/not secured.  Actions:  I used GeoCel 4500 black caulk on the open EPDM along the drip edge and at the open corner of the drip edge.  I also used some aluminum I had to create a new corner for the drip edge.  I installed this over the loose corner and used zip screws to secure it.My impression is that the leak is in fact not coming from the shingled roof we installed but instead is a problem with the EPDM roof, which we did not work on.  I met and explained the problem to Mr. Smith and he seemed to understand. It appears the problem has something to do with the way the wind is blowing the rain.  A coating would cover any holes in the EPDM material itself -- however if there was a hole in the EPDM it would leak every time it rained which is not the case in this situation.  We are waiting until the next rain to see if our patch job worked to stop the leaking.  We can not recommend a long term solution until we can determine the cause of the leak.

They offered to send a person to inspect my roof who is part of the problem and I do not want him to return for obvious reasons. They also did not offer to fix my leaking gutter which has leaked since the day it was installed. [redacted]

Have been using their service for years at my residential property. Great service and great prices when compared to the competitors. I usually get the weed removal service, tree and shrub trimming and pre-emergent service.
