After years of doing studies, I have never experienced something like this. I was in house 38 days of non stop vomiting and constipation. In fact, everyone on the study that dosed had the some side effects, after the first 14 days of that I packed my bags and told staff I was done. Only to find out that I was only going to get paid $100 a day I was in house instead of the $250 per night.
I decided to end up staying because I really needed the money and I figured $1400 compare to the $9350 was to much of a difference to just drop out. Later, I found out that we were the only study to actually finish.
The reason was because we endured a lot. I personally lost a total of 18 lbs. we eat very little amounts of food and they seem to base there amount on calories that they feel will be plenty enough to get us through the day. They seem to think that if they add cheese wish is high in calories, they can just give us little amounts and it's okay because they met the requirements.
It's all in an effort to save money. I have never seen a facility not give participants a physical by a Doctor in order to get into the study. The whole time I was there I saw the Doctor a total of 2 times and this was because I asked to see one a day in advance!! This is absolutely in unacceptable!! .. We were constipated up to three weeks at a time, people were in very serious conditions and they didn't seem to care enough to have a Doctor on stand by.
I was hearing things from the nurses about how the Doctor wasn't being paid like he should and he in turn did't take his job to serious. We were even left completely alone for one night because they didn't have sufficient staff. Spaulding just would do what ever to save money including putting there participants in serious danger.
