Dear Revdex.com;
In regards to complaint #[redacted]. On July 17, 2014, [redacted] presented [redacted], a 7 year-old, 80 lb., female-spayed Golden Retriever with right rear leg lameness. I concurred with a previous diagnosis of torn Anterior Cruciate ligament and discussed...

the various treatment options. Given the choice of going to a specialist, a low cost clinic in Richmond or having Chantilly Animal Hospital perform the surgery, [redacted] chose to have us do the surgery. On August 6th, 2014 the surgery was performed, and [redacted] had an uneventful recovery, [redacted] was released to the [redacted], the next day.On August 12, 2014, [redacted] contacted our clinic to Say [redacted] was seriously ill with a gastrointestinal upset, [redacted] took [redacted] to his previous veterinarian, [redacted] Animal Hospital, who referred him to the [redacted] Center in Leesburg for emergency care. In ongoing conversations between [redacted], the referral center and me, it was clear that [redacted] was quiet sick and needed the intensive care they could provide. I stayed in touch with [redacted] and, upon learning that he had taken her home, called his cell phone and left messages asking him to call me back and update me on her condition. On August 19, 2014 I left a message with [redacted] that [redacted] was due for a suture removal and recheck. He did not reply or schedule an appointment.
On November 18, 2014 (or thereabout) [redacted] called the clinic to schedule a recheck exam, making it clear to the receptionist that she was lame and he expected any and all services to be at no charge, as her larmeness was a direct result of our previous treatment. I called [redacted] back and on November 24, 2014 we spoke on the phone. I made it clear to [redacted], that at the time of the surgery, I had explained to him that post surgical rechecks were a necessary and important part of the recovery from surgery and were included in our original quote and cost of Surgery and, as such, would have been no charge during the post operative period. In this case, he had failed to do any necessary rechecks or communicate any issues or problems with our office in the postoperative period, but I told him that I would now be willing to see [redacted], at no additional cost, for an examination.On December 1, 2014 [redacted]. [redacted] came in with [redacted] and indicated that [redacted] had been waking normally for sometime after the surgery but had only recently become lame. [redacted] was in fact lame on the right rear leg but clearly very active. [redacted]. [redacted] agreed that they had difficulty in keeping her quiet and restrained at home. I could not give her an exact diagnosis but felt that [redacted] had re-injured her leg. I explained to her that follow up care never included more than the post operative exams and that any further diagnostics, medical care or surgical care would be their responsibility. Further, due to [redacted]'s belligerent attitude, his failure to return follow up phone calls, and his excessive claims against us, I thought they would be better served having [redacted] Animal Hospital or a specialist do any follow up care for [redacted].
In response to his complaint I think that I have made it clear that [redacted] does not appear to be lame due to any negligence on our part. We are not liable for any incidental emergency care she may have had and [redacted] has violated any possible good will gestures with his loud and angry name calling on the phone and wild and outrageous complaints.
Sincerely,Martir T DVM
