Same experience
Our college has had the same experienceThe Chariot website is also down, and their phone # has been disconnected

We would pay DOUBLE
Chariot closed their doors just over a year ago (apparently) Our college used their software for years and we are still using what's left of it In my opinion it was the best grading software on the market, especially for the price and flexibility We would pay DOUBLE if they came back If anyone knows one of the programmers or developers of the software that could keep this software going for us, please contact me at [redacted] We would gladly pay a consult fee for a customized set up of this software, especially if you could get our web access back For anyone else that used this software and changed to another, could you tell me what you are using and how much you like it compared to Chariot / Micrograde / Webgrade? Thanks

Dear Bart D, I have no idea how long ago you posted your query, but I"d like to respond all the same. I have used Micrograde for over 20 years, and it is still hands down the best grading program around. I use a Mac, and Mohave is the last system this will run on. I am keeping an old laptop around just to be able to run this program! I can tell you who the developers are, but I have done a fair amount of searching and cannot find them online. Their names are David H. Brown and Manuel G. Silveira. I can even give you their copyright registration number: TX0004937250. both men are in their 80s now, if still alive. I can also ell you there is an earlier version of Micrograde for DOS by a different developer. His daughter now hold that copyright and I have been in touch with her - I didn't realize there were two different versions. She says her father sued Chariot Software for copyright infringement. I have no idea if it was just the name, or the program itself that infringed on the original program by Charles Morreale. I actually contacted his daughter to see if there were any plans to upgrade and re-market the software. She said her father had no plans to do so. So that is the extent of what I know. If you do read this, and want to contact me, you can so so at [email protected]

Is chariot software out of business? None of the websites work and my students and I have lost the grade display website which I paid for and it is in the middle of our semester!

Dear Educators
This letter is to inform you about a recent experience with Micrograde Customer ServiceI pay for the service including the technical support out of my own pocket, and I have used it for yearsIn fact I liked the program so much that I spread the word to other teachers and helped to convince one school at which I worked to buy a site license
This summer I decided to use a free trial on my new (to me) Mac computer to decide if I wanted to switch Micrograde to the new computer or leave it on my old notebookAt the end of the free trial I did want to switch to my Mac, but when I called customer support they were busy so I emailed them
I wrote an email to express my disappointment and not being able to receive help in a timely mannerHere is a copy of that email
" I am very disappointed that I have not heard back from anyone from tech supportI called and left a message and emailed alsoI reinstalled micorgrade onto my netbook, and I am spending the day re-doing work I have already completed because students require an updated grade reportYou need more tech support so that you can respond to problems immediatelyI am extremely irritated that I have to work because I have not heard from anyone and therefore cannot find another solution."
I wanted to bring to your attention the extremely rude and unprofessional conduct of Micrograde tech support This was the response that I received from Micrograde Tech support
"I agree! It is soooo very irritating when you have a 30-day free trial and you wait until the very last second (actually, beyond the very last second) to seek assistance to help you avoid the train that has been steaming down the tracks (VERY SLOWLY!) for the past days I am soooo glad you refused to own the failure which so clearly belongs to you It is soooo much better that you try to pin the blame on us for failing to respond in LESS THAN ONE DAY just because YOU failed to plan ahead for THIRTY DAYS!
And the icing on the cake (for me) is you didn't need to re-enter all the class grades into MicroGrade on your Windows computer; all you needed to do was copy the MicroGrade class files from your Macintosh to your Windows computer and add a .cls to the end of each class file name and the Windows version of MicroGrade would open them up lickety-split!
ROTFLMFAO!!
Just deserts, indeed!
Re: "I would like to have Micrograde registered on my work computer which is a PC and my home computer which is a MacDo I really have to buy licenses because I cannot afford that!"
Yes and no
No You do not have to buy two separate individual licenses for the full price
Yes You do have to buy a second license for a reduced multi-license price I am not in the office at the moment so I cannot see your current license, but I'm going to assume it is version or higher If that is correct, the price for a corresponding Macintosh license is $
You can place the order at this web page:
http://csgstore.stores.yahoo.net/micrograde.html
Click on the Order button next to "Mac OSX (Intel) - Higher Ed Edition - Upgrade - From Version 6.x to Version 120-3304INT" In the comments text box, type your current Windows MicroGrade serial number and mention that this purchase is a "side-grade" to Windows
Thanks for the giggles We're oh soooo sorry!"
So in addition to not responding to my questions quickly, tech support was condescending, rude, and inappropriateI will not be ordering a copy of Micrograde for my Mac computerFurther, I would like to encourage anyone in a position to buy products from Chariot Group Software to seek another alternative

Hi All Teachers- I have been an advocate and supporter of the grade program Micrograde for several years. I even convinced an institution that I work for to buy a site license. This summer I decided to use a free trial on my new (to me) Mac to decide if I wanted to have the grading program on the new computer or my old notebook. At the end of the free trial I did want to switch to my Mac, but when I called customer support they were busy for over two hours so I emailed. I WILL NEVER USE MICROGRADE AGAIN!

Needless to say, I am shopping for new grade programs. I have posted this interaction on social media; I intend to contact teachers' unions, as well as, other Micrograde customers. I do intend to follow up with a manager at Chariot Software Group. However, the individual who sent this email failed to sign it so I do not expect he or she will experience any consequences.
