Review: I had an appointment at the office located at [redacted] on September **. Prior to the examination by the doctor, I explained to the front desk attendant that I had, recently, been examined and had my [redacted] etc. in Georgia (relocated to NY in August 2014) and that my right eye (I believe, the cornea) is damaged and is not correctable via lenses (glasses). Therefore, I needed an examination by a specialist. The attendant at the front desk assured me that following the initial eye-exam, that would be the course of action provided at Cohens Fashion optical.Firstly, the doctor performing the examination was very rude and unprofessional and insisted that the prescription that he was preparing for me would correct the vision in my left eye. He stated that he would do a pressure test. I inquired as to the problem with the right eye and he was very dismissive and condescending. He stated that he would prepare the prescription lenses with transitional and lined bifocals and added, You can do whatever you want and handed me my pocket book and asked me to leave his office. There was no further examination, no dilation, pressure tests, nothing.Following this scenario, I asked the person at the front desk to please schedule me with an appointment with the second doctor to have my retina looked at; I was placed on an appointment calendar. However, there were some motioning to the back area by two of the front desk attendants and, subsequently, my name was removed off the appointment calendar. The attendant informed me that I needed to call the office on Tuesday to have a telephone consultation with the doctor that was qualified to conduct the examination.Well, this scenario ended with several calls to the office, each time I am told that the doctor is not available.I was given an eye exam and told that I needed to purchase glasses to correct my vision is one eye and expected to accept the doctors opinion without questions. Since I chose to question crazy, I am being penalized. If this is the normal and customary practice of Cohens Fashion Optical, then someone needs to be aware of the deceptive business practices. I thought that they would be interested in the health of a potential client, it is not more important to sell a customer a pair of expensive glasses if that is not what is needed to correct their vision.I plan to investigate my options but wanted to make sure that this incident was brought to the attention of someone in authority because it is unfair to your customers, in my situation, it is truly a disservice. I am forwarding copies of this complaint to the Revdex.com, to my insurance company, [redacted] and to the corporate office of Cohens Fashion Optical.Desired Settlement: They should not be allowed to charge my insurance company and should pay for my visit to the appropriate facility to have my eyes examined.
