Review: casa mechanical received $300 deposit toward $1400 charge to fix a gas leak and have [redacted] turn on gas in my residence. On the day that casa mechanical said they would come to the residence to begin the work, they did not show up. upon contact casa mechanical's representative expressed that "I have a funny feeling about the job and as such we won't do the job." upon further inquiry they maintained they don't have any other reason why they just wont do the job. when asked to return the deposit the employee said "no we won't and they never did. casa mechanical left the jobsite blemished and not intact as they found it.Desired Settlement: A refund is in order as well as making whole the site that they left blemished.

[redacted] called one of our mechanics to address a situation that [redacted] shut off gas to 2nd floor stove & locked gas meter. I went to location and [redacted] showed me the red tag notice from [redacted] indicating there was no appliance valve and gas leaking from flex connector to stove. (for this reason thats why meter was locked) [redacted] was told that would install gas valve and replace flexible connector. we quoted $500.00 for this work. upon testing entire gas line after installing appliance valve we found gas line failed integrity test. at that time we quoted him additional $1400.00 to replace gas line to 2ND floor since piping is concealed it entails opening walls and installing new piping & testing. Because of the amount of work involved and a [redacted] red tag filing is required to be submitted with NYC dept of buildings and filing fees are required starting at minimum of $130.00 at that time we gave a price he said he could not afford this and wanted us to wait. He gave us $300.00 for the first part of the job, he said he found someone else that was cheaper. The $300.00 covers our cost of the appliance valve and testing(2 hrs @ $140.00 per hour=$280.00 plus appliance valve $30.00 plus tax=$338.00.

As far as we are concern he pay for the work that we did and this matter is closed.

Review: My kitchen faucet- perfect condition, in orig. box- they dented faucet & badly scratched faucet & plate. Incorrectly installed faucet. Plate has space between it & sink, faucet is loose-wobbles. Plumber turned faucet to side to hide damage. Rushed me so as to get out before I'd see damage. Kohler bathroom sink in perfect condition, to be installed on existing, matching pedestal- they cracked the top right side of sink, concealed damage with several layers epoxy substances. See my letter to co for details & photos via attachments. Plumber falsely claimed to be a master licensed plumber. When I asked for his proof he said it was in truck- he'd get it later. Later told me he didn't have it in truck. My calls requesting to speak to owner, [redacted], & appointment for him to view damages & make repairs were ignored. Sept *, spoke to their bookkeeper [redacted]. He said the owner, [redacted] told him they would repair or refund money I paid them, & let me know in 2 days. After no call back, I told [redacted] I wanted a refund & I'd hire a different plumbing co. Sept **, I received unsigned email from [redacted] co denying accountability, saying they'll refund $200.00. No mention of repairs. I pd for a master plumber. That is not what they sent. Work was done incorrectly, & new expensive fixtures ruined.Desired Settlement: $216.00 + $330.00 + $1,200.00= $1,746.66 Cost for me to replace new B.R. sink $216.66, & new kit faucet $330.00. Cost to hire another plumber to remove damaged B.R. sink basin & install new sink, remove B.R. faucet & reinstall on new sink, remove damaged kit faucet & install new faucet.

To Whom It May Concern:

We went to [redacted]' residence August ** 2013, and had 1 plumber and 1 helper work the full day as stated in the contract. At the end of the day when the work was completed, our plumber allowed [redacted] to check everything that was done and make sure it was to her satisfaction. She signed off on the job, and proceeded to contact our office to make her final payment on contract. One week later to the day of completion, we received a call from [redacted] stating she was not satisfied with the work that was done, in which she had previously signed off on. We are not responsible for damage done after our plumber leaves, and our plumber as well as [redacted], checked to make sure everything was satisfactory before leaving the location. To try and satisfy her, we offered a partial refund in which she rejected. Also, on any plumbing job, the Master Plumber is not required to do the work, his license is required to operate the company, but not required for him to be on the jobs. Our plumber misunderstood when she asked him for a master License card, he assumed she wanted a company business card, so he went back to the truck to look for one, which he couldn't find. Attached is a copy of the work ticket signed by [redacted], along with a copy of our master Plumber License.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[redacted] Mechanical company plumbers arrived at my apartment door at 9:30am, on August *, 2013. They left at 3:30pm, so did not work a full day, and took a one hour lunch break.

As previously stated in my letter to owners [redacted] and [redacted], dated September *, 2013, I did not use the kitchen sink as the drain was clogged, and made arrangements for the super to come the following week to repair the drain.

I didn't notice the damage the plumbers caused to the kitchen sink faucet until the next week, straightening up in the kitchen, on Tuesday August [redacted], the day the super was to come later that afternoon. The plumber turned the faucet to the side to hide the dents they caused.

I had doctor appointments on August [redacted] and August 14th, and was unable to contact [redacted] until August [redacted].

My new kitchen faucet was in perfect condition and still in the box when the plumbers arrived on August *, 2013. See my letter to [redacted] for detailed description of damage to kitchen faucet.

My dispute has to do with the company taking responsibility for damage their plumbers caused during the job, not damage after they left, as [redacted] claims in his response.

I supplied a new Kohler bathroom sink in perfect condition.

The plumbers went to great lengths to conceal the damage they did to my new Kohler bathroom sink basin, by covering up a crack they made on the top right side with some type of hard epoxy glue-like substance with a rough surface, and beneath that some kind of white substance to hide the crack itself. It took me nearly a week using a soft cotton cloth and water, to wipe the hardened epoxy-like substance from the surface of the bathroom sink, to reach the next layer of the white substance. And a couple more days to wipe off some of the white substance, and only then could see the crack.

I also supplied a new Kohler faucet fixture in perfect condition, to be installed onto my bathroom sink. At estimate I had the owner, [redacted], check to make sure all parts were in the box. He confirmed all the parts were there.

The date of the job, August [redacted], the plumber said some of the bathroom sink faucet parts were missing, and used substitute parts. The hot water handle is too hard to turn, the faucet spout moves, and the pop-up drain leaks, and was incorrectly installed.

I ordered faucet service parts from Kohler.

I am not asking the plumbing company to pay for the Kohler bathroom faucet parts, but they are responsible to pay for a new bathroom sink basin and new kitchen faucet.

The plumbing company is also responsible for the money I must pay to another plumber to remove the bathroom faucet and damaged sink basin, and reinstall with a new Kohler bathroom sink and reinstall faucet with my Kohler service parts. Or to have [redacted] Mechanical company come back and reinstall the new bathroom sink and Kohler faucet with my Kohler service parts, at no additional charge to me.

[redacted]'s assumption that his plumber misunderstood when I asked for his license ID card is incorrect. My question, verbatim: "Are you a master licensed plumber?" to which the plumber responded. "Yes." I asked for his business identification card, which legally must be produced upon request. He claimed it was in the truck, and would get it later. As the plumbers were leaving my apartment at 3:30pm, I again asked about the card. The plumber said he'd get it from the truck. His helper returned claiming it wasn't in the truck. [redacted]'s response gives a different impression.

On August [redacted], at 3:30pm, the plumber announced he had another job to go to immediately. He handed me a paper receipt, said he needed my signature, and was in a hurry. I replied, I needed to know what was written on the paper before I signed it. I have some loss of vision and had difficulty reading some of the writing. I explained this to [redacted], and asked if he would read it to me, which he did. He rushed me so as to get out before I'd see the damage. I signed the receipt, and phoned the company to make the final payment, unaware of all the damage the plumbers had done.

My phone calls requesting to speak to the owner, [redacted], and appointment for him to view the damage and to make repairs were ignored.

On September [redacted], I spoke to their bookkeeper, [redacted]. He said the owner, [redacted] received my email letter with photo attachments, and told him they would repair or refund the money I paid them, and let me know in two days.

After no call back, I called and told [redacted] I wanted a refund and I'd hire a different plumbing company.

On September **, 2013 I received an unsigned email from [redacted] Mechanical co. denying accountability, saying they'll refund $200.00. There was no mention of repairs.

[redacted]'s comment "To try and satisfy her, we offered a partial refund in which she rejected.", wrongly implies that he has been trying to address my complaint all along, and infers that nothing they do will satisfy me. [redacted] Mechanical co. has a contractual obligation, which has not been fulfilled.

The photographs provide evidence of the damage the plumbers caused, and supports the validity of my complaint of the plumbers negligence.
