I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
I should not be charged any late fees and they should honor both as 8/I want the full balance waived because I tried to drop the classes and as I stated before their policy brought up an error messageHow can I know the policy if the website doesn't even workI will not accept their response unless they waive the balance in full because this whole process has been extremely difficult
Regards,
*** ***

RE* *** * *** *** Good afternoon, I looked into *** ***’s record on LionPATH and confirmed her current bill amounts with the Bursar. ***’s request for summer aid award was submitted on May 11, when she emailed our officeShe was awarded Pell grant funds
in the amount of $(based on being enrolled half time) and the federal direct loansShe declined the loan award on May 15, (total amount available of $10,500). *** was charged a 100% tuition penalty when she late dropped a course (*** ***) on June 19, Her tuition will not adjust as per the Bursar policy based on the date dropped as this is a full summer session courseUnfortunately, federal aid will not disburse until after June 28th, and she will no longer be eligible for the half time Pell funds because dropped below halftimeShe will receive only $dollars in the Pell grant fund. Other than the email in early May, there is no documentation in LionPATH or the email system to show that *** had contacted our office to review her aid prior to dropping the course. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance in clarifying this matter. Penn State University policy
stipulates that unpaid financial charges preclude the issuance of official
University transcripts. https://[redacted]In this case Ms. [redacted] has
an unpaid tuition balance with Penn State University for two courses that she
was...

registered for, participated in and subsequently dropped.  We
understand that this prevents  Ms. [redacted] from enrolling in another
institution of higher education and sympathize with the hardship this situation
may present. We have thoroughly checked all University information and resources to see if
some exception could be made but this is not the case. The official transcript will not
be provided until the outstanding balance due is paid in full.Ms. [redacted] should be able to obtain an academic verificaiton as
a “former student”.  Instructions are listed here:  http://[redacted]

The first sentence on the Graduate Certificate in Human Factors Engineering and Ergonomics How to Apply page states that you need an UG degree as well as a BS degree in Engineering or a related science. It is listed in bold lettering and does not provide any exceptions for this specific degree...

requirement. We cannot tell from her complaint what type of UG degree she has, however, the emails in Talisma indicate that she does not have the necessary coursework to be successful in the certificate program.  The application prerequisites (included below) can be found on our website: http://www[redacted]: PrerequisitesFor admission to the Graduate School, an applicant must hold either (1) a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or (2) a tertiary (postsecondary) degree that is deemed comparable to a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution. This degree must be from an officially recognized degree-granting institution in the country in which it operates.Incoming students must meet the following program requirementsBS degree in engineering or a related science from an ABET-accredited institutionUndergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (Exceptions to the minimum GPA may be made for students with special backgrounds, abilities, and interests. Revdex.com:
It was not accomodated they will believe anything the instructor says my cousin was here with me and she saw that the instructor wouldnt take care of my questions over the weekend and the test was due by Sunday night. She is a witness an saw that she wouldnt do that. Also, if this was first time they would of granted exception or courtesy refund however they did that on the class I dropped after class started AS I WAS TOLD TO WAIT so Penn State needs to take care of their mistakes instead of throwing to the student. I would be very weary about going to this college. I am going to be looking at other colleges because I am sick of businesses like Penn State not owning up to their mistakes!!!!
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

We have reviewed this complaint, as well as the original refund petition filed by the student in 2014 and subsequent communication.  We have determined that the instructor honored the student’s learning accommodations and that his request for a full refund was denied in accordance with our...

refund policy.  This decision was not made lightly and included consultation from Penn State’s Office of Disability Services and the College of IST.  Unfortunately we are not able to provide any additional refund to Mr. [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I dropped the class because my Lionpath account showed that I WOULD NOT receive the pell grant financial aid! I immediately contacted Penn State and dropped the class and asked them to withdrawal me from the semester because they took away my grant! I would not have dropped classes that I was receiving A's in if this weren't the case! Penn State said that financial status of accounts would be current on June 8th and as of June 8th my grant was showing on my account. On June 19th when I logged on to my financial account the grant was REMOVED from my account and a balance of $1267 was due. I accepted the grant prior to term starting and declined financial loans that were offered through subsidized and unsubsidized loans in the amount of $10,000. I didnt want to add to my loan debt.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Based on the Penn States response and the fact that I did not qualify for the degree requirements, I should receive a full refund. Not refunding my application fee is shameful. If you are that hard up for $65, you really need to reconsider your business model.

Hello [redacted], I am sorry to hear of the challenges you experienced in dropping your courses for fall semester.  The time and date on which a student adds or drops a course are recorded in Lionpath.   A review of your record shows that you dropped the LING 100  course in...

Lionpath on 8/31.  We can also see that you attempted to drop NUTR 251 on that same date. The last date to drop a course without penalty was 8/27.  The 25% tuition penalty you are being charged is for the late drop of  LING 100.  You received a full refund on the NUTR 251 course that was processed as a withdrawal.  The Registrar’s Office honored the date of 8/27 that was entered on the withdrawal form.Sincerely,Karen ** P[redacted]
