Charles Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing & Electrical Reviews (3)

The customer contacted us to see if we could help him out in a jam. The previous contractor he had hired to install his hvac system had taken his money and never returned. After a few meetings we came to an agreement that Charles Heating would finish the job for him. It was our job to finish his... installation of the equipment that was left in basement as well as trying to finish the duct system for 2 systems next to each other. The contract was for $1900 which was labor and a little material. The customer was also aware that because we were providing labor to finish the job for him that we were not responsible for any warranty on the equipment that he had provided. The job was completed during the fall/winter time. This year when he turned on his air conditioner, he contacted us because it wasn't cooling adequately. The first service call that we went on we found both filters plugged. They hadn't been changed since the install. After a short time the customer then called again and said the A/C was still not coiling for him. This service call we found that it was low on refrigerant. At this point the customer felt that he did not need to pay for either service call because he thought it was due to our installation and not the equipment. After discussing this with him he decided to call someone he knew that was in the business that would come over to inspect the job on the side. After the other gentlemans inspection he found that there was nothing wrong with the install. He thought that due to the distance that the lineset was traveling that it needed a little extra refrigerant. Which could have not been figured out in the winter time due to the fact that you cannot properly check the charge of a system with low outdoor temperatures. After this had taken place I had spoke with the customer and he agreed that it wasn't our fault. We decided to do him a favor and send him $60 (which was what he spent with the other heating guy) as a sign of customer service.
