Review: I have been a customer of Charles Moon Plumbing for many years. I have always paid my bills on time and have been happy with the service Charles Moon Plumbing has provided. All that changed this Summer 2015. Normally, every year, Charles Moon Plumbing winterizes my mobile home in Fenwick Island. I am not present for the service. They have a key to my home, we schedule a day for service and they go and winterize my lines to protect them from freezing.Normally, I receive a bill for services indicating what they have done and I promptly send the check for payment. Last November 2014, Charles Moon winterized my home and I made payment. Normally, I do not pay them to De winterize my home in the Spring. The reason is because all that is needed to do is to simply turn the water on when I arrive in the Spring and allow all the antifreeze to drain from the lines. I believe that the winterization service consists of using air to blow out the lines and adding the antifreeze.I do this EVERY year. It has always been standard operating procedures. Upon arriving this year and turning on my water, everything seemed normal. The water flowed freely, the antifreeze flushed out.However, when I turned on my brand new hot water tank to heat hot water, I noticed after an hour that the water was not heating. I waited another hour and called Charles Moon to ask if they knew why. I also noticed when I inspected the tank, that there was a screw missing on the control panel. I mentioned it to Charles Moon when I called. They said they would send someone out.When the repairman arrived, he told me that, They have disconnected the water lines going to your tank when they winterized it and you have burned out your heating element in the tank by turning it on.In my horror, I explained to him that this is never done! No one had informed me of this dewinterizing procedure! If I had KNOWN they had disconnected the water lines I would have had them dewinterize for me!It has always been my understanding that if there is a problem with winterizing a mobile home when a company has been paid to perform the service, the liability lies with the company and their service.I telephoned Charles Moon Plumbing in an attempt to discuss this and remind them that the expense incurred belongs to them. I explained that I was not informed and did not know they disconnected my water lines because they NEVER DO. After the installation of a new heating element, I was presented with a bill for $178.00. I was told I was being given multiple discounts, i.e. $40.00 off and also 15%. As I insisted that this was not my fault, I was told that some checking would be done to see if there was any error on their part and they would call me on Monday, May, 12th with the final conclusion. When I didnt hear from them on Monday, May 12th, I called them to discuss this. I had thought about it all weekend and decided that it would be fair for us to splint the costs. I offered to pay $89.00 and send the payment immediately.I was told that the owner of the company would be informed of my complaint and to expect another return call.When I finally spoke to the employee, I was told that, we have given you multiple discounts and we are not willing to split the costs with you.There followed a heated exchange from the office employee and myself. I told them I was going to contact the Revdex.com about this. I was told to go ahead.I feel I have been unfairly billed by this company and I do not appreciate having someone raise their voice to me in such a disrespectful manner. I feel I was more than fair in offering to split the costs for a charge that never would have happened had they been clear about the CHANGE in their services. To me, the error lies in their changing their service and not letting me know about it.Desired Settlement: I am seeking a fair resolution to this dispute about charges and am willing to pay one half.
