Charter Fitness of Hobart

When I joined Chart Fitness in August 2014 I was given a brochure and a T-shirt. I was not given an actual contract to read nor review prior to signing. I was under the impression that the memebrship was month to month and not annual. The sales person did not mention the extra $50 annual fee. I found out about the fee because it was deducted from my account.

Now I am in the middle of moving to a different state and I need to cancel my membership. To cancel my membership I cannot move with in a 25 mile radious of a charter fitness (or else the membership would simply be transfered), and I must provide proof. They want me to send either a bank statement wiht new address, a letter from the post office, an offere letter from an employer, or a lease.

Even if I decided to continue my contract until it expires I will still have to write a letter because their renewal is automatic.

Basically you are trapped into a contract.

Charter claims that the policy is ABC financial's and ABC financial claims that it is Charter's policy.

This contract is a scam.
