Review: On November 3rd, 2014 we looked at purchasing a Xmas gift of a brand name new Hearts on Fire ring at Chateau Jewelers for our daughter. We were not sure about the purchase and Chateau showed us a Hearts on Fire warranty / refund policy good for return for any reason for 90 days. We left the store to think about it and returned to purchase the ring knowing we had the refund policy if our daughter did not like it. The ring was $4,943.40 with tax. We felt comfortable with Chateau being we spent in excess of $25,000.00 in previous purchases with them. We were given the ring and the warranty / refund policy in a binder. On Xmas we gave our daughter the ring and she did not like it. She thought it was strange her parents purchased in her eyes an engagement ring we we meant it as a right hand ring. A right hand ring is a symbol of a strong woman. At that time we were on a cruise in the Caribbean. Upon returning home early January 2015 we tried returning the ring but Chateau would not honor the warranty / refund policy they gave to us. They said they their store receipt of exchange or refund was only valid and supersedes the Hearts on Fire warranty / refund policy that Chateau gave to us. We then contacted Hearts on Fire manufacturer to find out two very disturbing concerns. First Chateau Jewelers was is not an Hearts on Fire dealer and should not have had the ring. Second through the manufacturer we come to learn the ring was used. We don't buy estate jewelry and this ring was not in a separate section in the store the does sell estate/used jewelry. I would never purchased used jewelry and can't believe we actually purchased someone else's heartache. We tried filing a compliant with our credit card company, Discover, but Discover says although they feel are complaint is more than valid being Chateau is not an authorized retailer of the ring they can't make them uphold the warranty / refund policy they themselves used to get us to purchase the ring. To date the ring sits in our safe and has NOT be worn.Desired Settlement: I would like Chateau to take back their used ring and refund my credit card in full. The ring should then be placed in the section of estate jewelry in the store where it should have been to begin with and not sold as NEW.
