Customer contacted me through Facebook asking if I could remove her thermostat because it was over heating and asked if it would be ok to run this way. I replied to her stating she should not do this and it would cost her $50 to $75 to replace for labor. She asked if it would be cheaper if she got...

the parts and that she already had antifreeze. I said that was fine if she picked up the parts and dropped them off with the car. I knew she was in a bind and needed the 2000 Durango 4.7L back that weekend to take on a trip for Easter dinner. Her girlfriend dropped off the parts with the Durango a little while later.  We was really buried in work that day and I was doing a favor and squeezing her in. When we got the vehicle in the shop and removed the thermostat we realized the part was wrong. I contacted the parts store with the part numbers she sent me and they was for a 1999 5.9L engine. I was in a hurry and went ahead and order the right parts. We then installed the right parts and when we were getting ready to add the antifreeze  she brought realized she had brought Dexcool which is for a General Motors vehicle, so we had to top off with the right antifreeze which we had on hand. Our hours of operation are 9am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and it was already after 6 pm on  Thursday March 24th when I tried calling her so I then sent her a message at 6:11 pm stating that the vehicle was ready to be picked up and that they had brought the incorrect parts .  She then picked the vehicle up at almost 7pm. When she showed up the customer explained how she appreciated the fact that I squeezed it in and got her back on the road. I explained then about the parts being for a 1999 5.9L and that the bill was a little higher due to having to get the right parts and gave her the parts they brought so she could return them and get her money back. The cost of labor was $75 like I had told her in the beginning and the thermostat and gasket was $25 . The anti freeze was $20 and would have tax on top of the bill being $9.06 bringing the total to $134.06. She stated she only had $110 on her and with her being a repeat customer I  ate the rest of the cost. When the customer left she seemed happy with the work . My labor rate is $50 per hr and the work took and hour and a half to do.  I pride my shop on not taking advantage of anyone and I would say 90% of my customers are women due to me not taking advantage.           Owner of the business Brandon C[redacted]PS.       I have text messages back and forward between  [redacted] and I that will back all of this up.
