I will never book through them again. I have used them at least 6 times, but under recent events, I had to cancel. I had the Cancel for any reason insurance, but I still think I should have been able to get a refund from them. I paid Cheap Caribbian for a trip. When I had to Cancel, The country I was going to Dominican Republic, they were actually telling Americans to get out while you can, That's when I decided to cancel. I was receiving emails from the consulate because I notified them I would be there. I called them to cancel and they made no attempt to give a refund especially when they knew I had the insurance. The Insurance from tripmate only paid me 75% of the cost of the trip. Which was a $1,727.31 loss. Schedule your own flights and book your own trip's People, and forget the insurance.

I agree with the recent negative reviews regarding Covid issues. Like others, I completely understand our trip was cancelled (flight was cancelled first). However, by law we are not required to take a credit or file a trip-insurance claim - that is a lie, at least in the US. The US DOT has mandated a refund in cases where a flight is cancelled. I paid them for something that they could not deliver, now I want my money back in full. I have used them many times in the past but never again.
I also understand that their company is probably experiencing many financial troubles but so are the people that have booked vacations far in advance of Covid issues.
Finally, when I used them once before and my flight was cancelled (solely by the airline) they had no problem refunding my money. This time, they are fighting to hold my money. It should have been the opposite.

Bunch of crap.
I booked a trip for me and my sister back in January. Of course Covid-19 hit and the hotel had to close so the trip got canceled. No problem as everyone is waiving fees and stuff anyway. I also had travel insurance but since they waived everything, I was fine with just a travel credit.
I lost out on the insurance money which was about $300 total but I was fine with that.
I finally got my email from Cheapcarribean and it clearly states that I have a future travel credit of $1650.12 so I set up a new vacation that is just about the same price. Ended up booking a different resort because the original one is still going to be closed.
When it came time to pay, I was told that the $1650.12 does not fully apply because the new flight is cheaper or some crap. I asked repeatedly why they would send me an email stating I have a travel credit with them for $1650.12 but won't actually apply it. The lady kept going in circles that their accounting department won't let them transfer from the airline price to the hotel price. Even though the new hotel is cheaper and the new flights are cheaper. I should have paid $94.55 our of pocket if I got to use the $1650.12 they said I had. I ended up having to pay $224.77 out of pocket because their accouting department won't let them use the airline portion for their hotel portion.
If I get an email saying I have a travel credit for $1650.12 with Cheapcarribean, I would expect to be able to use the full amount. I don't expect to have to contact the airline with no information on how to get my credit from them. I did not get an email from Cheapcarribean saying I have X travel credit with them and another X travel credit with American Airlines.
Straight up crap.
Yes they have pretty good deals, but don't expect them to hold up to their word if they say they are giving you a travel credit. Expect it to be some crap down the line.

We are booked with CheapCaribbean for 28 individuals for the end of May. Because half of this group are young men going their own way come August, we attempted to move our trip to the end of July, but we were unable too because every flight they tried to move us too, they were only allowed to book about 10 individuals on a flight. When calling the airlines they had plenty of seats but apparently CheapCaribbean is limited on how many seats airlines will allow them to book at once. So now we don't know if we will ever be able to book as a group and if we can't go as group there is no point in going, and now we more than likely will have to pay more money to book in the future because we will have to pay the difference. This group doesn't have additional funds to pay more money. Also, why if the airlines is canceling, and the resort we picked had a 7 day prior to arrival cancellation policy, why are we being high jacked when CheapCaribbean can't even accommodate us. Seeing how they are the ones that can't accommodate they should have to cash refund us. I will never book through an OTA ever again. If we would of booked directly with the airlines we would have been given cash refund, and the hotel would of allowed us to cancel with no fees. We are stuck!!!! The government needs to oversee the OTA's.

Book elsewhere, book elsewhere, book elsewhere, all l can say is bad experience
overall. No communication,on hold for hrs. ,no response to emails, have to give
1 star to leave review. Do your homework and book elsewhere

Booked a trip in December 2019 for May 2020. Due to current COVID-19 pandemic, I attempted to cancel my trip. The trip was to the Bahamas, which has closed its borders, and the resort I had booked has also closed due to the pandemic. Even with all of these factors, CheapCaribbean.com will only offer a voucher. When asked if the new trip I book ends up being cheaper than the one I had already paid for, I was told the difference would be a loss to me. So CheapCaribbean.com would be keeping the money I had paid for a trip, if I found a cheaper trip through their company. The airline booked for the trip has no cancellation fees, the resort is closed and is refunding bookings, but CheapCaribbean.com will not issue me a refund for the full amount I paid.

They have told me to call the travel insurance company (***) that I paid for during booking. *** told me a "pandemic is not covered" under my plan, so they cannot issue refunds due to COVID-19 cancellations.

How CheapCaribbean.com can take my money, and flat out refuse to return it to me has me completely baffled. If I paid for a trip that I can no longer take due to a Global Pandemic, how can CheapCaribbean.com legally withhold my refund?

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID. The issue at hand is with the fact that Cheap Caribbean will not issue a full refund, regardless of policy, due to the pandemic outbreak. We accepted a voucher because it was that OR a partial refund. The second issue is with the fact that the voucher is for the amount we paid, regardless of what the price of the new trip is. Booking a cheaper trip will result in us losing money, because the difference in price is kept by the company. There is a global pandemic; Cheap Caribbean needs to consider this and adopt their polices to better help their customers.

Due to COVID 19 our trip through Cheap Carribean had to be cancelled and rebooked. After calling multiple times I finally was able to speak to a manager on 4/9 and was told even though we just paid an additional $125 per person to change the flight and switch airlines. With the new flights we found we would lose $115.00 per person since the flight is cheaper and if *** decides to give a refund cheap carribean will keep the money and not refund us anything. Then when I asked to confirm Arianna's floor managers name he provided a fake name that he did not give at the beginning of the call. Poor customer service all around.

4/7/2020 *** Loves Park, IL *** To Whom It May Concern, Our family had planned a once in a lifetime trip to the Dominican Republic through Cheap Caribbean. We were so looking forward spending this time with family. Unfortunately, 2 days before we were to leave for our trip, the Dominican closed it borders due to the Covid-19. We live in Illinois and have been quarantined for over two weeks. We are not to leave our house and are not working currently. I understand your policy of no refunds without insurance, you must understand no one new that this pandemic would occur or the effects it would have on the world. Also we did not cancel our trip, we couldn’t go because of the closed borders. We are struggling to pay bills, mortgage, food etc. We are asking, please, we really need the refund, That money would go along way to help reduce the stress we have been living as a family. I understand policies but I also know in extreme cases, policies can be changed, we are a family struggling to pay bills and yet you are in a way holding our money hostage. Please rethink and refund so we can live through this pandemic without the stress of working about money. and refund so we can live through this pandemic without the stress of worrying about money I am requesting Cheap Caribbean to refund me the balance of $6,051.33 ($6541.26 total paid by me minus $489.93 refunded by ***). My booking numbers are *** and ***. Thank you in advance. ***@***.com

We need this money in order to pay our bills. Cheap Caribbean refused to give us one. I have contacted the company by email and phone. The last customer service rep hung up the phone on me.

I know their policy is no refund without insurance but the airlines and resort cancelled on us, two days before we were to leave for our trip.

I consider this a health issue because of the COVID 19 pandemic.

As everyone is suffering through this pandemic, losing jobs, Trouble with feeding families, medications , etc. Cheap Caribbean had no remorse, they literally don’t care about their customers. They only finding strategies of how they can still possibly keep the money. Instead of providing refunds for all
Cancelled trips they are only giving credit for a full year and supposedly only refunding those with privacy protection. Who is even thinking of their next trip with all going on? Someone that has lost their job will be grateful to receive their refund to help themselves and their family. While on the phone for 2 hrs I asked to speak to a supervisor and the agent declined my request twice!!! Then he told me He had people waiting on the other line and had to close! He literally hung up on me not caring about any of my concerns. I have bills to pay! Yes I cannot get evicted but so what I will still need to pay it later on. Receiving my refund would had helped me and my family on this hard times! For at least 2-3 months we would’ve been good! They said they are only offering a whole year to plan my trip ahead ! But who wants to travel?? I do not have a job!! Smh I am so disappointed at this company. So sad to see that when hard times like this happen people that own this company is still thinking selfish on how they can keep money for themselves! Is disgusting! Never will I ever make a purchase here again!

We had a vacation scheduled for May that was cancelled due to pandemic. I asked Cheap Caribbean if there's any possibility to get my money back since this was out of hands. I spoke to a representative named Lil who stated that she could release the purchase of airline tickets to *** so that way I could contact them direct to try and get my money back. Cheap Caribbean did say that any money paid above ticket prices would remain a credit with them. I was fine with that since most of the money was toward the tickets.I then submitted a refund request with the airlines. 2 days later they issued my full refund to the travel agency. When I called Cheap Caribbean they started that they keep that money as a credit voucher. That is wrong. They stole my money. I explained that I had two of the passenger's going in to the military and would not be able to use the vouchers. I'm begging for help to get my money back for the flight. I spoke to *** and they agreed that they are suppose to refund that money to me. I feel stuck and helpless. I appreciate any help. Thank you

Also, according to Frontier Airlines stating that there airport is closed via. website. A pandemic is a world wide issue which is considered a disaster.
CheapCaribbean is not offering the 100 total value of the trip. I see this is inconsiderate due to a pandemic. I am not canceling the flight the Airlines canceled it due to this unfortunate event. I would appreciate if you can assist me via. email or call.

Due to the Caronavirus, my vacation got cancelled. I have the emails to confirm that cheap Caribbean cancelled my vacation and I am no longer to go on the dates I selected. They will not give me a refund and only a credit. I no longer will have my vacation and do not want business with cheap Caribbean. I feel they are holding my money and I want a refund. They are causing me to get angry and they are collecting interest on money I have paid for a vacation that got cancelled by them.

-booked all-inclusive vacation on 11/5/19 $6715.68 through cheapcaribbean.com
-flight and hotel stay have been cancelled by cheapcaribbean.com and/or suppliers (*** and *** in Montego Bay, Jamaica)
-multiple emails to request information on refund
-Call on 4/4/2020 from 10:35am-1:36pm with Marie, customer service rep. Results of call: offered travel credit, but absolutely refused refund.
-Reviewed Cheap Caribbean's Terms and Conditions, primarily the clause in section "MAJOR CHANGES AND AMENDMENTS" which states: "...in the event of complete cancellation by us or a supplier, our only liability will be to return all monies paid..."
-Marie verbalized understanding but continued to refuse refund of monies paid. She continued to offer travel credit which is unacceptable resolution given the details outlined in Cheap Caribbean's own terms and conditions. She also refused to transfer to supervisor or give mailing address for certified correspondence.

I booked a vacation through Cheap Caribbean in February for travel to Mexico in middle of April. Due to coronavirus health concerns, my flight to Mexico was cancelled. Hoping to get a refund for myself and my travel parter (totaling $1612) I called the airline- ***- seeking reimbursement for the flights. They advised that because the airline cancelled the flight I was eligible for a refund in full, but would need to contact Cheap Caribbean to issue itsince I purchased the flights through them. When I contacted Cheap Caribbean I spoke with Denise in customer service who refused to provide a reference number for the call. She told me that it was "industry policy" that they are only issuing flight vouchers and are not refunding, as that is what airlines are doing. I told her I had already spoken with *** who said I was entitled to a refund in full. She continued to say "a voucher for future air travel" is the only option they are offering, even if the airline cancelled the flight. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she refused saying "we are not able to connect you to a supervisor and this is the only option you have."

I am writing to formally lodge my complaint with CheapCaribbean.com for unethical business practice in the middle of a national crisis. We paid them more than $2,000 for a trip we can not take and they are refusing to refund our money. We paid half up front before the COVID-19 pandemic. Last week, after our hotel closed in Jamaica, they took the other half of our money. We learned from my hotel's website that they had closed on March 19th. When I called Cheap Caribbean and asked why I hadn't been notified of this I was told to collect on my insurance or I could get a refund limited to travel by October 2020. We tried calling Cheap Caribbean for 4 times and was on hold for over 2 hours each time and then the call was dropped each time.
On March 19th we were notified that our hotel shut down and will remain shut until April 30 and that the remainder of my trip balance was taken on March 21 from my credit card. We were supposed to stay at this hotel from April 11 through April 18. We are very anxious about losing more than two thousand dollars. We have literally spent hours on hold trying to reach someone at Cheap Carribean by phone and we have resorted to a very slow process of email back and forth and the information is vague at best. Even if we went on our trip we would have no where to stay once we got there. In addition we both work in industries, education and healthcare, where our employers have forbid us to travel during this time, in the midst of a pandemic. The travel insurance we purchased does not cover Pandemics.

My wife and I had our trip canceled due to the covid 19 pandemic worldwide. Furthermore, it deeply hurts me that I even have to file this complaint.
Our trip was scheduled for april 10, from newark to santiago, Dominican Republic, the reservation id is ***.
I made numerous attempts to contact them regarding this matter, though I was never provided with a refund.
The vacation package was for airfare and 6 night stay at an allinclusive resort.
The U.S. department of transportation requires that a full refund of my flight be refunded for any cancel flights.
In addition, the resort portion of the trip also needs to be refunded. The resort we booked on the island is shut down, for I called them directly, and they did not even have a date to reopen.
A resort credit doesn't work and will not work....furthermore its not fair considering the resort is closed and who knows when anything will get going.
My wife and I are currently out of work, as with most people due to this pandemic. We find it calous for any company to make it difficult in getting a refund in this serious situation.
In conclusion, cheap caribbean mission statement is to "Do the right thing by customers"
Please understand...im not looking for any type of travel credit, it does nothing for us at this current pandemic.
I want a full refund to my credit card...
I hope it can be resolved at this level.
thanks

On Feb 20. I purchased a vacation through, Cheap Caribbean, C/O Apple Leisure Group. The all-inclusive vacation was scheduled for March, 24, to Los Cabos, Mexico. Prior to the vacation, Congress declared a travel ban to Mexico territory from the US. All parties including *** airlines informed me the flight and trip were canceled. Cheap Caribbean has yet to refund me for my trip and our screening calls for 4-6 hrs speak to a representative during, the week of March 15-March 20 when the travel ban was enacted. Now the company is only offering waived cancellation fees and not offering to refund money. I spoke to a representative and the statement was that because of the current cov-19 virus they have amended and altered their original policies that were stated when I bought my vacation, they would not penalize customers who had vacations canceled by airlines and hotels due to the Corona Virus, but have not refunded my money to my credit card.

We scheduled a trip to Cancun for myself, wife, and two boys. The sum total was $5,780, and our flight was scheduled on ***, and Hotel at *** in Cancun, Mexico. Because of COVID 19 the flight was cancelled by the airline and we were removed from the flight (scheduled for April 4, 2020). I contacted the airline, who asked me to accept a travel credit, but I got them to refund the money to Cheap Caribbean. I also contacted the hotel, who informed me that they would accept cancellations without penalty. I then called Cheap Caribbean to cancel and get a refund issued. I stated my case and informed them that I was seeking a refund of $5,580 which is less $200 then the total, allowing them to keep the $50 per person booking fee, since they did make all the reservations. They now had all the money with no commitment to *** or to ***, but they still refused to return the money to me. They stated that is was their policy, and there was nothing I could do, except to accept a travel credit for future travel.

I think this position is entirely unreasonable and bad business practice. They should have to refund the money. If airlines have to refund money when a flight is cancelled, why should a travel agency be allowed to keep that money just because I booked through them. That does not make sense to me whatsoever.

My expectation is that they refund our money in the amount of $5,580.

We purchased our reservations through Cheapcaribbean.com, in good faith, for a family vacation to Mexico for March 25-April 1, 2020. It was a really big purchase for our family, but wanted to take a chance and make as many memories as we could before our oldest leaves the house.

Due to the Corona virus outbreak, borders have been closed, and the trip we originally purchased no longer exists. Both *** and the *** (the travel partners we booked through Cheapcarribean.com) have said they will give full refunds with no penalties.

We have reached out to Cheapcaribbean.com via email, and tried on the phone several times to confirm this information and get a refund back on our credit card. Finally, was able to get a hold of someone yesterday after waiting for over 5 hours. We were told although everything is being fully refunded we could only get a credit good for a future vacation to be used within the year. We then asked to speak to a manager, and was originally told his name was Juan, but later he changed his name to David.

Juan/David said he had no authority to refund our purchase even though the airlines and hotel were fully refunding with no penalties due to the pandemic and the borders and hotels closing and therefore our trip no longer existed . He also said, when asked, that he was given no direction from the executive level in how to handle this new and extreme human situation. When asked if we could talk to his manager, or whomever was above him, he said there was no one, and that we needed to contact [email protected], and that they were the ones who could help us. After further persistence on our part, we still got the same answer.

I have several communications over the last 2 weeks respectfully reaching out through [email protected] the responses were auto robot responses, no names to reach back out to and continue a conversation with regards to our urgent matter. After we filed our first complaint with the Attorney General of Pennsylvania we got an email with a generic response similar to what is currently on your BB pages, and a phone call that got disconnected, and when I tried to call back was directed to an answering machine and received no further communication back.

We are asking for help from you for ourselves...I am an Independent Contractor/Artist in the Advertising Production Arts...and all my work immediately dried up with the pandemic. Being an independent contractor I do not qualify for Income Assistance because of this. As a significant contributor to our family of 5 the $5107.15 would help greatly with mortgage payments and food. We, like so so many, are not in a position in these current times where $5107.15 is anything we can live without.

https://www.consumeraffairs.com/travel/cheapcaribbean.html
https://www.***.com/review/www.cheapcaribbean.com

We are also filing a complaint with you, and whomever may be able to help us, for all the others who are also fraudulently being taken advantage of by Cheapcaribbean.com. ( please see above web links for some examples).
A car dealership would not be allowed to take someone's money with the promise of delivering a car, and then after it was determined that car was not existing anymore, keep the person's money and say you can just have a credit. This is considered stealing, and fraudulent...and the case is the same here. The trip we originally purchased is determined to be no longer in existence, and the travel partners are fully refunding...so in order to not be fraudulent CheapCaribbean.com needs to pass on the refund to their consumers, including us, in order to not be fraudulent. There is no language in the long contract with all the little words that specifically addresses cancellations due to world wide pandemic or acts of God.

Please help us, and so many others who are being taken advantage of by this company.
All we are asking for is our original credit card, used to purchase this trip that no longer exists, be fully refunded with the original total purchase amount.... And helping others who may like the same results..
Thank you so much for time and help in this matter. We really appreciate all you do for MN, PA and our community.
