We listened to her comments and confirmed that she possessed the original receipt. 
 
Privacy laws prohibit sharing much information about transactions with anyone but the customer, so it was difficult to discuss the issue in detail with her.
 
Perhaps a resolution could have been reached quickly if the customer had been present.
