Chefo's Pancake House Reviews (1)

When we booked our vacation through [redacted]) Vacations, we were informed that the resort, Arizona Grand, had a $25 resort fee per night (which was/is subject to change). Knowing that in advance, we went ahead and booked with them.
Upon arrival we were notified that their resort fee was now $35 (over 40% increase from $25) and were normally $40. I was very aggravated with such a huge jump in cost! I was livid considering why they believe they’re justified in charging an additional "Resort" fee!
They state their fee covers:
WiFi access
Unlimited local calls, credit card calls, toll free calls and free unlimited collect calls.
Free [redacted] paper (upon request)
As well as 10% off a round of one golf and 10% off one spa massage.
I’ve never stayed ANYWHERE that an available WiFi connection wasn’t provided free of charge (besides which, I have internet access through my provider and don’t necessarily need a 2nd party internet access). I have my own cell phone to make phone calls and am insulted when it's suggested (and put forth as a feature/benefit to their guests) that their fee covers/allows their guests unlimited toll-free, collect, local and calls charged to my personal credit card using their hotel room phone! I don’t read the news paper and don’t want to spend money to save 10% on golf (which I don’t play) nor a massage (which I don’t need). When we checked in, we were given a preprinted (credit card sized) card which had, printed on it, the current fee of $35/day as well as the valueless “features” it offers. Every time I looked at it I got enraged knowing I had to, not only pay the frivolous fee, but I was going to pay TAXES on top of the damn fees!!! I finally threw the card in the trash.
To make matters worse, when we checked out, they tried to charge us $40/day for resort fees! The clerk told me the fee was correct and I was in error (like she didn't have a stack of these cards behind her counter). Since I had already threw the card away I had no way of proving my case! I was then told that even if I was correct, she was unable to make the changes!!! This suggests poor training on the part of the resort or they cannot trust their employees to make adjustments in such cases. I was astonished and VERY upset at their bait and switch tactics, to say the least. I even refused to sign paperwork when I left the “resort” that morning.
In the end, it appears we were only charged the $35/day fee + tax which ultimately provides NOTHING to their "valued" guests except the opportunity for them to shell out more money to the resort for additional services. The audacity to charge a fee in addition to a daily rate then expect your guests to pay taxes on the additional fee! Pathetic.
If your "resort" is worth the extra money, roll the "fee" into your daily rates and quit being deceptive.
