Complaint[redacted]We first bought our brand new RV last Spring/Summer from Chegus RV in Watson. Over the course of our first season, we kept an ongoing list of issues and deficiencies that needed to be dealt with as far as warranty goes. We then took our RV back to Chegus at the end of camping season to have these issues looked after. We were told that of these issues required parts and needed to stay there longer...so we reluctantly decided to have Chegus complete the winterization on it and have it stored there over the winter, so they can finish the service come Spring. This camping season came and went, and we took our camper to a business in town to have it winterized. From the outset, the technician at [redacted] told us it was either winterized wrong, or too late last year, as damage was caused to the bypass valve on out camper. Not being able to avoid the winterization process, we had no choice but to pay the extra money needed to fix the issue. [redacted]Desired SettlementHonestly, I am looking for Chegus to be responsible for the cost incurred from this damage. We paid for the "deluxe" winterization package last year...only to realize they either did something wrong or waited to long to do it...[redacted]. We expect that Chegus refund us the money it cost us at Traveland for the repairs.Business Response [redacted]The complaint states Mr. [redacted] was informed by another service centre that the problem experienced was due to improper service provided by our business. We contacted [redacted] and they informed us they could not determine the exact cause, other than typical component failure. [redacted]The Service we provided to Mr. [redacted] is a service we perform hundreds of times per year and have been doing so for over twenty years. The nature of the problem the consumer has experienced is one of enclosed plumbing and there is no possible way to determine the cause unless there was physical evidence externally, of which the Service Manager of [redacted] stated to us there was none. Mr. [redacted]'s issue is one of component failure which he may not be happy with, but it can happen in any RV at any time, without prior symptoms or warning. As evidenced in the attached workorder from [redacted], the cause is not stated.Further, our records show the winterization service we provided to Mr. [redacted] was performed on September 18, 2013. If winterization was performed improperly in fall of 2013, any problems caused by this would have been very evident when we dewinterized Mr. [redacted]'s RV in May of 2014. Mr. [redacted] purchased extended warranty insurance on his RV, which may have covered this type of component failure. We did let him know that he could use said insurance with any authorized RV dealer. We feel we have responded to the concerns raised by Mr. [redacted] within an acceptable time frame. Unless further valid evidence arises that proves our negligence, rather than simple component failure, we are considering this matter closed. We have also included the timeline and history of Mr. [redacted]'s service related to his complaint.Again, thank you for the opportunity to provide our response concerning this matter.Respectfully,[redacted]Chegus RV Sales Ltd. CHEGUS RV WORK ORDER [redacted] - Summary of Time Line of Work in Question- Customer dropped unit off September 14, 2013- Issues noted by customer were diagnosed/repaired September 17-18. Estimates for repair of remaining issues were created at that time.- Unit was winterized September 18, 2013 - Customer requested Premium Winterize. o Basic winterize includes completely draining the water system, running antifreeze through the water system and plumbing fixtures - Premium also includes the flushing and deodorizing of the grey and black holding tanks as well.- Warranty Authorization paperwork was submitted to the manufacturer September 20, 2013.- Authorization from the manufacturer to proceed with repairs was received September 26, 2013- Parts for repair of remaining issues were ordered September 30, 2013 and were received October 30, 2013.- Remaining repairs were completed by November 12, 2013.- Customer did not want to come and get the unit at that time and requested unit be stored on our site for the winter. We made an exception to our policy of not storing units and allowed it.- Customer asked us to de-winterize the unit and have it ready for pick up on May 10, 2014.- Unit was de-winterized May 9, 2014 - no leaks/damage to the water system or plumbing fixtures were found at that time.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)[redacted]. The response back from Chegus is the response I expected. Throughout the past few months it has been a struggle to actually hear back from anyone regarding this as well as other service issues. [redacted] Even looking at the response I received after they say they "fixed" our sensor in our tank was quite unfortunate. Even though they claim it was fixed, it was still not working properly but refused to look at again without having it cost us outside of warranty...even though it was first "repaired" under warranty. [redacted] I am not saying that one company is more right than another, but after speaking with a few dealers in and around Regina, they only could have speculated what the issue was and most of them came to same conclusion of it not being winterized properly. And that is the only ground I have to stand on. [redacted]Final Business Response We regret we are unable to please Mr. [redacted] in a manner he considers satisfactory. However, we feel we have responded to his concerns in a timely and appropriate manner and have done all we are required to do. We therefore consider this matter closed.
