Chelsea Realty Group Reviews (4)

We have been customers of Chelsea Realty Group for 3 years, renting a property through this company at [redacted]. Our lease has now expired and we have moved out of the property at the completion of our lease. We have made several attempts to reach the management staff with little to no response. We have called the contact number, left voice messages, and emailed through the proper contact information through Chelsea Realty Group's website. The responses we have received back have been "Please provide us with a phone number where you can be reached". This response has been strictly via email to which we have sent immediate response. This company has had our contact information since we signed the lease agreement in 2011, and our contact information has not changed. They have made contact promptly with us with regard to showing the house to new/potential clients looking to sign a lease at this property, however we cannot receive a response otherwise to discuss our lease and the finalization of it. Throughout our 3 year plus lease, this company has not been responsive to a variety of issues related to the maintenance of the property, including fixing an improperly working stove for over 6 months. We have consistently made our rent payments throughout our lease term. In addition, we were asked to provide a double deposit prior to moving in back in 2011, which we did. Through our recent calls and emails, we have requested a final walk-through to review the condition of the property as compared to when we moved in, which was substandard and indicated on the move-in reports. We are extremely dissatisfied with the level of unprofessionalism and lack of communication from the management staff. Upon research, there are similar occurrences of these issues posted online from other similarly treated customers. This business should not be allowed to operate in this manner.Desired SettlementFull refund of our initial move-in deposit $2,000.Business Response I have spoken with the tenant and explained that we are still in review of the property and have 30 days after moveout to resolve all SD distributions. We have agreed to resolve the issue before the end of March 2015.

company breeched contract agreement by quitting on the owner/landlord one (1) day after request was made concerning rental documents. chelsea realty group was in charge of managing property at [redacted] which is an apartment building.property was owned by my aunt, who lives in [redacted] However, I live next door to said property and notified my aunt of the problems that were going on. She gave me power of attorney to act in her stead. When I presented the document to the office manager, she refused to provide me with the document or contract that stated the agreement for them to be the agents. My aunt had informed me that she did not know how chelsea came to be the agent and was told that the previous agent was no longer in business. This statement is not true. When asked for the documents, office manager became offensive. I asked what I needed to do to terminate the agreement and she stated that I needed to present a written sixty day notice of intent. This incident occurred on September 17, 2013.However on the 18th of September, my aunt called and told me that office manager had called her and stated they would no longer manage the property after that date. At this time my aunt had her attorney draw up a quick claim deed transferring property to me.I have asked for the moneys that were paid for the tenants rent for the partial month, I asked for security deposit from evicted tenants. Office manager informed me that she sent it to my aunt. When I asked my aunt about it, she stated that she has never received any money from chelsea and that she did not file taxes on personal income. The realtor commission was given complaints and responses were all untruths. I still have not received the moneys, keys to certain apartments, documents for service and rental collections, and there is proof that my aunt, as well as other tenants signatures were forged on the paperwork they did provide. According to an unsigned and scaterred documents, chelea became the agent in 2008, but company can not or will not provide documents for proof.Desired SettlementI AM SEEKING MONEYS THAT WERE COLLECTED FROM TENANTS RENT FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER, AS WELL AS SECURITY DEPOSITS FOR TENANTS THAT WERE EVICTED AND ONES THAT WERE COLLECTED PRIOR TO 2013.Initial *usiness Response Ms [redacted] has already had this issue sent to another agency twice and both times that agency confirmed that we did follow proper protocol. We feel that the following copy of the responses we have already given sufficiently refutes Ms [redacted]'s claims.First Letter:This letter is in response to a complaint that was filed against us from Ms. [redacted] received Monday September 23, 2013. In reference to her concerns regarding the tenant issues at the property at [redacted] NC XXXXXOur office has had multiple conversations with the owner of [redacted] Ms. [redacted]. During that time she had not given our office written authorization to speak with Ms. [redacted]. Therefore, prior to the office receiving her power of attorney we could not speak with Ms. [redacted] regarding her concerns about [redacted] Ms. [redacted] did bring in her power of attorney paperwork on September 16, 2013. *t that time we immediately set up an appointment to meet with her. During our discussion in our office, on September she mentioned to us that she would like to take over the management of the property effective immediately. Following our meeting we spoke with Ms. [redacted] and expressed to her what Ms. [redacted]'s wishes were and what her plans were for the property. *t that time all parties came to an agreement that our office would no longer manage her property at [redacted] NC XXXXX. *fter our conversation Ms. [redacted] was sent a letter of termination and Ms. [redacted] was copied(see attached). *t this time we are waiting for Ms. [redacted] signature on the termination of management form. This is just for a formality as both parties have agreed and been notified of the termination.2nd letter1. On September 18, 2013 Ms. [redacted] came into the office and picked up the two current leases for [redacted] and [redacted], that provide the necessary information for her to see the rental amounts and lease dates. She also was given all of the keys to [redacted] & ** There were two witnesses in our office to this encounter. 2. On September 18, 2013 we sent out a letter to both Ms. [redacted] and [redacted] informing them to let their tenants know where to send their rental payments (see attached) because at this point we had received verbal requests from both Ms. [redacted] and Ms. [redacted] each requesting money be sent to them, Ms. [redacted] emphatically told two different people at this office it was not her intention for Ms. [redacted] to receive money. We were never given anything in writing informing us of where the rent checks should be sent from the tenants. On September 19, 2013 I received a phone call from both [redacted] and [redacted] voicing their concerns regarding Ms. [redacted]'s behavior. *t that time they both told me that they had received written notice from Ms. [redacted] to send the rent checks to her. We requested and have been waiting since September 18, 2013 for Ms. [redacted] to come in and sign the change of management form so that we had written authorization to allow us to inform the tenants of the mailing address for their checks and who to call for maintenance issues. Once we receive the signed form we will send out a follow up letter to the tenants informing them of the same.3. On September 30, 2013 I printed a check # [redacted] in the amount of $230.00 for the rental payments received in September 2013. I mailed the check on October 1, 2013 to Ms. [redacted], the owner of [redacted]ccording to our records with [redacted] bank, this check cleared on October 31, 2013.4. On Friday October 4, 2013 we hand delivered two security deposit checks; one for [redacted] in the amount of $733.50(Check # [redacted] and second for [redacted] in the amount of $600.00( Check # [redacted] ( see attached copies of the check stubs) On that same day [redacted] from [redacted]ank called to inform us that Ms. [redacted] was unable to obtain a signature of Mr. [redacted] the tenant in [redacted] Therefore, she was unable to cash that check. *fter confirming with you that we do not need to include the tenant's name on the check, we reissued a check for $733.50( ch # [redacted] ) that Ms. [redacted] came into the office to pick up on Monday October 7, 2013. (see attached signature from Ms. [redacted] confirming receipt of check ). We confirmed with [redacted] from [redacted]ank on Monday October 7, 2013 that Ms. [redacted] was able to deposit both checks on Monday October 7, 2013 and there were no further issues with her transactions. Due to Ms. [redacted]'s mistreatment and unprofessional demeanor towards our office staff as well as with her own tenants when she expressed to us that she did not want us to manage the property we eagerly jumped at the chance to release her from her management contract. We could tell by Ms. [redacted]'s actions that she would not appreciate the time and care that we put into our clients nor was she willing to put the money into fixing up the unit into one that we would feel was a safe and habitable unit for the tenants. We have received numerous complaints from her tenant's stating that she was harassing them and knocking on their door's at all hours of the night. The police have had to be called numerous times because of her behavior. Due to her actions as well as the tenant's complaints against her we felt that she would not be an ideal type of client for us to continue a relationship with so when she gave us an "out" on the 17th of September we agreed to let her terminate the contract with Ms [redacted] without her having to give us any notice.

I rented a home from Chelsea Realty for a year for my son, and they were the most unprofessional people I have ever come in contact with. When my son moved in, there were tons of issues with the home. He did not have A/C or hot water and I had called quite a few times to try and get both fixed and no one bothered to return my calls. I had to take money out of my own pocket for the repairs and was promised I was going to be reimbursed and wasn't. The home also had serious electric issues that were not addressed properly. This company has no regard or care for their tenants or property and are not professionals at all. Even the owner is a [redacted] and does not care about her customers. Also, my son has since moved out a few months ago and we still have not received our security deposit back.Desired SettlementI want to be reimbursed for the money I was forced to spend to make my son's dwelling habitable, and I would like my security deposit back.Business Response Their lease ended 7-31-2014 which gives the owner of their property a couple more weeks to finish finalizing the repairs.Everything was done with accordance as to what was legal per the property owners wishes and attorney we use to consult on such matters. We were dealing with the son and not the parent and so it sounds like the parent and the son were not corresponding with each other but the son was the tenant so that was who received information. The owner of the company never had any dealings with these tenants or their parents. Either via phone or email so they must have been mistaken the owner of the property did leave his email for all tenants in the unit and that may have been who they meant. This is a super cute house with hardwoods and an updated kitchen, bay window and a front porch it is one of the offices favorites it is a 1950's ranch so older homes do have quirks.Consumer Response All of the information they responded is incorrect, but I would not have expected anything else. I the parent did all of the handling with Chelsea Realty, they are beyond horrible I recommend for anyone interested to check out the web, lots of complaints. The house is outdated and the "cute" home now is after we spent in excess of 2k to repair and even with that it is not up to code but I will report that to the local agency. They lie beyond belief but I want to put out as many warnings to help any parent so they are warned before they deal with these people. Thank youFinal Business Response whenever work was reported emails were sent to the tenant to confirm it was done so along with invoices from third party vendors we would get emails from the son the tenant it is hard to dispute emails saying everything is fine directly from the tenantas long as the owner of the property agrees to improvements we have them done but if the owner of the property says no it is a no however there is a history of who went and what was done again it would appear that the mom did not know the son was emailing us that all was well

Failure to respond to phone calls or certified mail. The property at [redacted], [redacted] has fallen into pre foreclosure and we had to move out on 29 August 2014 to avoid losing any deposits. [redacted] assured us that due to the unfortunate circumstances with the precedings, that she would work with us to ensure we get our deposit back and would allow us to move out on 1 Sep 2014 if we found a place. We found place and various calls and emails had been sent without any oppurtunity to speak with someone concerning what processes needed to take place prior to the move...ie keys or cleaning of property. I'm concerned about getting my refund of $1950.00 back and no one has responded from that office. I went to the location and there was a sign that said that they would no longer have walk-in and that they were operating on an appointment only basis. I was unable to get an appointment or speak to anyone. I've been in my new property for 2 weeks now and still have not gotten any response from anyone associated with the company. The phone line propmts you to leave a message and no one calls you back ever! The propery has been vacated since 29 August and cleaned. The keys were dropped off to the office via envelope because I wass unable to communicate with anyone concerning the process. Desired SettlementI would like to get my full deposit which was 975.00 x 2 totalling 1950.00.Business Response The tenant had been previously been told several times that the security deposit accounting would be sent within 30 days of his move out which would be the end of this month. We really don't understand where his concern is we are still within that time frame.Consumer Response Im not sure of the several times being told this because I have not spoken to anyone live. No one has contacted me with that info...it was told to me in the office when it was possible to go to the office but since the change with appointment only, I have not spoken to anyone. I will wait for the end of the month for the refund.Final Business Response ok
