When the payroll data was moved from 2014 to 2015 I did not realize the federal tax line did not get transferred for the employees. ...
This had never happened before to any client and I never thought I would need to check that.
I know you believe we should have seen the problem but as you stated to me you never looked at the reports and no one said anything regarding the fact that no federal tax was coming out after 2014 and their nets were higher than usual. The problem continued for all of 2015 and it was not until W2 forms were issued in 2016 that the problem was brought to my attention.
I accept my part in the situation but I feel you should also accept part of it too because when reports are sent to the employer it is up to them to make sure everything is correct. The payroll reports and stubs were e-mailed every pay cycle and the stubs were available to print and give to the employees. The fact that the employees never once looked at their check stubs or asked for them if they did not receive them also contributed to the situation. If anyone had seen that the taxes were not coming out of their check early in 2015 the error would have been corrected immediately.
You are correct regarding the refund of 963.00. As I mentioned in the e-mail it could be credited to your account or a check would be mailed to you based on what you wanted. I do not recall ever hearing from you so I did not do anything at the time. Right after that the services were terminated and I did not think of the refund or credit to you. I apologize for that and a check can be sent at any time.
