Beware of doing business with Cherry Roofing and the *** family
In July, my wife and I looked for a contractor to repair a leak in our flat roof - it only occurs with heavy rainWe came across *** *** of Cherry Roofing online - he and Cherry Roofing both had excellent reviews in multiple placesHe was friendly, polite, and eager to helpHe explained that Cherry Roofing had been in business for more than years and his family goes the extra mile for their customers
He quoted $to fix the roof, to which we quickly agreedThat Saturday, he came over with one of the Cherry Roofing employees, climbed on the roof and came back to say the repair would be more extensive than he expected and would cost $1500, but he'd warranty the repair until the roof was replaced, which should have set off every warning bell in the firehouseI was concerned about the leak, so I told him to go aheadIn a couple of hours, they'd completed the repairHe pointed out a couple of additional spots on the roof that he said were soft, but I didn't have the money for any additional repairs and declined
A few weeks later, he called out of the blue and said they'd just finished a job in the area, had some extra materials, and could fix the soft spots for $I didn't like the approach he used, but I figured that was a decent price for patching the other spots, so I agreedHe came over with his brother *** and put on a patch
I thought everything was good, but we started getting heavy rains and I saw that the original leak was still presentI called him and he told me it was a new leak so he'd need to charge extra to fix itI told him it was in exactly the same spot, so it was the same leakHe assured me that since he'd repaired the first, it couldn't be the same oneI went off on him and he conceded that he needed to fix it and would be out on Friday
That is when I discovered how the *** family works - they promise they'll come out to get you off the phone, then they don't show upAfter a few weeks of this, they stop answering the phone when you call
Once *** stopped taking calls, I called their office insteadThe owner, ***'s uncle ***, said that *** and *** don't work for him and are ruining his good nameHe told me he sympathizes with me and would "make it right."
Obviously, this was a lie, since if *** doesn't work for him, why would he bother?
However, I stayed in touch with him for several weeks and saw the same pattern - "raining, can't do roof repairs today," and "busy, but will have someone out soon" and "got an independent contractor who is taking care of several things for me, he'll be out in a couple of days." Then *** stopped taking calls
I've explored small claims court, Department of Business & Professional Regulation, and the district attorneyNothing is going to change the fact that they've got $of my money and I have a roof that leaks
I'm not saying you will have the same experience - they have a number of positive reviews - but please take my experience as a cautionCherry Roofing is very happy to have good reviews that even mention *** or *** by name, but they wash their hands of them if there are any complaintsIf that doesn't sound honest or trustworthy to you, try a different roofing companyThere are plenty of them around!

I hired this company on July 6th to completely replace my roofI made it clear to them that I was hiring them to permanently resolve leaks in my roof and that time was of essence
After paying them 85% of the total amount they stopped working and returning my calls, texts and emails for which I had to hire a lawyer!! During this time Hurricane Irma hit, the house flooded and the furniture was lost!
After several weeks of letters and phone calls from my lawyer to this company the work resumed but by this time the underlayment had been exposed to the sun and rain for many months which will probably end up reducing the life of the roofIn total, it ended up taking months to do the work (should have taken less than a month) which ended up having several flaws
In addition they placed the tile pallets on the grass which damaged the grass and broke the sprinklersAnd, they didn't cover my pool which broke the pool pump and left truck tires marks on the driveway which had to be repainted
Cherry Roofing service and quality is a disasterIt has been the worst experience I've had in years with any building companyUnless you want months of headaches I would suggest to NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY

Their work was timely, professionally done, and fairly pricedI got his name by word of mouthHands down, I will only use Cherry roofing for any roofing work I need to do in The future in South Florida
I have consulted with the owner of this company after doing so with many other roofers. The owner seemed very thorough, professional, and straight forward. His price was not the cheapest, but it was also several thousand less than many others. He uses the proper hot mopping method and makes sound recommendations about which tiles are best to use for practical purposes. We thought we had a good roofer prior to this, but we found out that was not the case. We have been through several roofers which were utter disappointments. I am always able to reach this roofer by phone or email and was patient with us, unlike the others. He provided a copy of his roofers license and insurance coverage for the job. He also is flexible if we should have to pay with credit cards . This roofing company is well known and respected by other roofing companies and has a good reputation. An F rating in this instance by one individual trying to substantiate how long the family business has been in business since 1954 should not be a reason to give someone an F.
John Cherry himself got up on my roof and assessed the damage. I called him for a re-roof, Which would have been about $7000. He said "save your money your roof still has 3 to 5 years". I had 3 other roofers out before John and none of them said my roof was ok. Then he advised me call the building dept. to verify the age of the roof, John was spot on, roof was only 16 yrs old. He did advise me of some issues, which were taken care of with before and after pictures. Final cost $500. Now on too the next project with money to spare! Thanks John and The Cherry Crew
Wonderful experience! Great communication, easy to get a hold of. Was selling house and needed some repairs to roof, fascia board and flashing. Came out and gave an estimate, two days later came and did the work. Crew was there bright and early and very courteous; took pictures for me. Work completed as requested for a very fair price. Straightforward, no hassle. Pleasure to work with. Highly recommend.
