Review: When I called to request a service call, I was told the fee was one hundred thirty something dollars for the first hour, (which is the amount of time the technician has here). I thought this was reasonable so I scheduled a visit. I was not told about an additional half hour travel fee at the time., which I think is unreasonable. If I had been told about it upfront I would have gone elsewhere. So, when I got a bill about 50% higher than expected, I was surprised. After calling and e-mailing several times, and getting no response, I paid $140 for the first hour. Along with payment I sent a letter explaining why I was paying the amount I paid. They are now threatening me with collections over the $70 something dollar difference. I think this is extremely unfair, as well as misleading advertising, since they did not tell me the true cost of the visit. They also never contacted me or returned my contacts to try to resolve this.Desired Settlement: Have them send me a paid in full notice

Response:
We only just received your FINAL REMINDER regarding ID [redacted]. Since today is a holiday, I was unable to reach anyone by phone. I am writing in regards to the complaint with ID [redacted] David [redacted] put a customer complaint in against our business regarding our billing practices. Mr. [redacted] was informed of travel time (which does not exceed 15 minutes) and the fact that any materials used would be billed to him. His bill was $209.70 which was more than $135.00 due to the fact that our tech was at his home for 1 and ½ hours (a time he disputes despite our GPS tracking system showing otherwise) and materials were used. Rather than call our company to discuss the invoice he received, he took it upon himself to delegate what he deemed “fair” to pay. Multiple attempts to try to speak to him regarding his short payment were made to no avail. He did not return my phone call until February 10th in which we came to the conclusion that the $70.00 balance was not worth trying to collect at that point and chose to credit his account. His account has no balance and he has been made aware of that, he is “paid in full”. Please let me know if there is another place that I need to enter my response as I couldn’t find a place on your website. Thank you, [redacted] Chestnut Electric Corp.
