This management company is very unorganized, disrespectful and unapologeticThey are not transparent about their application processIt is very inconvenient to do business with them because they NEVER answer their main office phone and are only available Monday- Friday 11am to 3pm (hours a day only). One literally has to take a day off from work and travel to *** *** ** *** ** just to directly communicate with managementThey operate mainly online but are also unresponsive to ANY online submissions (e.grepairs, inquiries, etc.)They conduct business with unorthodox practices although their written policies differI would not work for a business like this or ever recommend anyone to apply to any of their propertiesI would suggest to proceed with cautionThis management company is unethical and already has a horrible reputation amongst it's tenants

Review: I have repeatedly called and emailed Chesnut Holdings concerning a bed bug issue at their property at [redacted] in the Bronx. Chesnut Holdings has not addressed the problem and has also not gotten back to me in response to my repeated calls and emails.Desired Settlement: I would like Chesnut Holdings to inspect the apartment and exterminate as necessary to remove the bed bugs.

Review: We lived in the apartment [redacted] from 2013 to 2014, which is the property of Chestnut Holdings Inc. According to their policy, they should refund the deposit in 30 days after we move out. We move out on April **, 2014. However, over 2 months, we still haven't receive the money. During this period, we called them and mailed them many times regarding the refund, but never got any response from them...no one answered the phone and no one replied our mails. Today I called them again, finally they picked up the phone, the guy said I have to provide an empty envelope to her so that she can mail the check to me. In fact, I already mailed an envelop with my bank account info and new address to them at around April **, which is 2 weeks ago before we moved out....now they asked me to mail it again! The ridiculous thing is that how a company does not have an envelope and ask their customers to provide it!!! I can't believe them anymore. They don't refund my deposit on time and they are liars.Desired Settlement: I want to get my money back ASAP! It is $2250.

Review: I am giving this company 1 star because that's the lowest I can give them! Rented me an apartment with bedbugs!!!! Thank god, I found out the first day and I moved in and never slept there, they were force to give me my money back because I threaten them with lawyers and it's illegal to rent apartments with bedbugs and not warn tenants . The office manager is a huge [redacted] who un-professional and pathetic. However, I lost all my furniture. On top of that when I was throwing everything away the super try to harass us until I threaten him with the cops! Do not do business with this company! I rented [redacted] apartment **. Hopefully, I can save someone from the horrible/costly experience me and my boyfriend went through. However, we were never repaid for the furniture money we lost.Desired Settlement: $5,000

Review: I have a big problem with this holding company. I recently became a new tenet for them in [redacted] on Friday September * 2013 at 9am. Now after signing the lease in the morning, I was promised the keys to the apt, the same day from the super of the building. Once I got to the building and my new apt, I noticed that several repairs still needed to be done. The super of the building and building management promised all repairs will be done by the afternoon by the time I move in all my stuff, who then brings in a handy man to repair the broken stuff. The super then gives me 1 copy of the key and he says he is keeping the other till the afternoon when I come back to drop off my stuff. Now at this time, I contact con edision about turning on the light to my apt. Con Ed then informs me that there is a work stoppage/clear access to my new building because of flea infestation by the circut breakers for con ed, and they have informed building management of this situation before and the only way they will turn on the electricty is if building management sends a letter with an extermination bill for stating there is no longer an infestation problem. Upon hearing this I try over and over again to contact building management but to no answer. I have already rented my truck to deliver my funitor, cloths and my property to the new apartment. While delivering all my property to my new apartment; I noticed most of the repairs were never done and I am trying to contact building management about the con Edison situation and my repair work but still no answer. I then contact the super asking him for my key to the apartment as I wish not to have a person with a key to my apartment while all my belonging are already in there and I have to return the truck or I will be charged an extra day. While contacting the super, he then tells me, he already left for the day and will not give me my key until he see fit which will bemMonday. I immediately demand that is unacceptable and he again tells me , he not around the area and will not give me the key to my apartment. I again try to contact building management ([redacted] holding) but no answer once again. I then contact the broker I dealt with for the apartment who then calls a property manager from [redacted] on their personal cell phone and informs me building management has been inform and the best they can do about me not having my key and me not having electricty is Monday. So now I am unable to sleep or be in my new apartment because having no electricity is a serious health violation on the landlord part. So now comes Monday morning 10am when I arrive to [redacted] holding office. They immediately apologies and inform me the super has the proper documentation that con Edison is asking for. I return once again to [redacted] asking the super for the paper work, that the office promised me he had. The super then informs me, he has no idea what I am talking about and he does not have any paperwork. I also ask about my key to the apartment, which he says he doesn't have it in him right now. I then go into my apartment so I can call building management and con Edison, which is the first time, I have been in my new apt since I left it friday evening after I dropped off my property. Upon entering my apartment, which I had to use my key to UNLOCK. I noticed my apartment was robbed worth if several thousands dollars of stuff is missing. Such as my tv, video gamessystems, blu rays, Dvds and other electronics. I then immediately call the police and make a report m the super, then arrives to my apartment x as I am telling the cops, that he refused to give me the key of the apartment. The super then admits to the officers, yes he does have the key and refused to give me it. He then also admits, he gave the key out to contractors while I was away for repair work to be done in the apartment, that still isn't done. While this is going on, I have calling building management for hrs a more then 2 dozen times to inform them of their breach of security, how thr super refused to give me the key and how he gave the key to other people and lied about giving me the key once I come back the same day last Friday Sept *. However, building management still doesn't pick up their phone till the afternoon who says I must talk to someone named [redacted]. So Immediately call this person [redacted] over 10x and finally get a response in which he says he will call me back but never does. After waiting hrs for [redacted] to call me back, I head out to [redacted] holding in person, since no ever answers the phone there. Once over there, I inform one of the workers of the situation, the worker, named Tara, then informs me, I must talk to [redacted] about all concerns even the con Edison situation, then tells me nothing she can do today and I must wait till tomorrow morning Tuesday sept ** about my robbery situation. I then contact my broker [redacted], who has the property manager personal cell number, who turns out to be [redacted]. Now [redacted] informs [redacted] that he will replace and reimburse my stolen property and promised I will have light Tuesday. So on Tuesday morning Sept **, when I arrive to the office asking for [redacted], he is not where to be found, and no one, in the [redacted] office can tell me if he will even try to contact me. I was informed that I would just have to keep calling asking for [redacted]. Now at this time, [redacted] gives me a letter, which looks like it takes 2 minutes to type. Stating con Edison is allowed to do work in the building. I then immediately send the paper over to con ed and was informed that I would take atleast tomorrow Wednesday Sept ** 2013 to turn on my light. I then try to contact building management, and then no answer. After calling the entire day, I finally got to reach [redacted] again around 425pm. She then transfer me to her supervisor who promises me Petee will contact me shortly. Finally around 5pm. [redacted] calls me and while telling him what happen, he then cuts me off, laughs at getting robbed and calls me lair, stating none of this happens. He then says he will talk to his supervisors about me and stats con ed will turn on the light tomorrow Wednesday morning at 10am and proceeds to hang up on me. I then try to call back to the office and receive no answer. So now comes Wednesday morning, and con Edison informs me they will might not be able to turn on the light today, but promises by tomorrow afternoon the latest they will. Then around 5pm, I received a call from the broker [redacted], stating the landlord, building management, and [redacted] holding now will not reimburse me for my property and they don't care that the super refused to give me my key nor they don't care that if they would have resolved this con ed situation before I moved in, none of this would have happened. Even though earlier in the week they admitted fault to all this. [redacted] then informs they are breaking my lease and want me out by the morning. I immediately then call building management, and [redacted] answers saying she is breaking the lease, and I better be the by the office on Thursday Sept ** 9am or else she keep my deposit and still kick me outDesired Settlement: I want a replacement for my stolen property, as the only person with the key was me and the super. When I left friday, I locked the door and the windows. And Monday morning when I came back to the building, the door was locked and I had to use the key to unlock it. So that means who ever robbed me, had a key to the apartment and re locked the door. So I want the value of my stolen property, an apology letter, repairs to the apartment that werw never done not to break my lease and to be compensated for the time living there without electricty which is a health Hazzard.

[redacted],

In response to the tenant complaint, see ATTACHMENT #1 -

The complainants signed a lease and became bound to that lease, subsequent to signing and before moving into unit they claimed to have left electronic equipment in the unit that belonged to them, but they accused the superintendant of stealing. Being that there was no way for a reconciliation to take place, [redacted] gave them back $3,000.00 + $100.00 in cash (application fees) and the complainants signed a general release which I am attaching as ATTACHMENT #2, thereby releasing the owner and Chestnut Holdings Of New York (managing agent) of any current liability as it relates to the entire landlord I tenant relationship, and [redacted] LLC and Chestnut Holdings Of New York released the complainants of any current liability that they may have as a result of the executed lease. When we asked them go through the entire document, they did so and signed the document.

Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at [redacted]

Review: I moved in the building in 2008 with no Air Conditioner & had know charges on my bill, then in 2010 Chestnut started charging me $5 for it. The [redacted] visited my residence and seen that I had know A/C and said & quote " I will make the changes" nothing has happen since and I'm still being Billed. The conditions me & my family have to live in is disgusting and when I make a complaint to the super regarding things that need to be fixed in my apartment it takes months. I purposely hold the rent till my apartment is fixed and then Chestnut Holdings will turn around and take me to court and bill me with there legal fees and late fees. I recently sent my Feb. 2015 & March. 2015 rent and [redacted] sent them back to my house with letter stating that they will not except it cause its short $55. When I call the Chestnut holdings office and request documents stating that I owe $55 I get yelled at by [redacted] saying "If You Cant Pay Then Move Out". I feel like Im being harassed to move out. Please Help.Desired Settlement: I want my security deposit back so I can move out this building but Chestnut Holding said that my security deposit will go towards there legal fees.

Review: I rented Apartment ** at [redacted] for 1 year (2011-2012). During the 1st winter there I was pregnant and gave birth to my daughter December 2011. Prior to going to the hospital I called the office and notify them that I don't have heat in my apartment. They did nothing and when I returned from the hospital there still was no heat. I had no recourse but to stay with my older sister in Brooklyn for 1 month with my newborn baby since there was no heat. I took them to Landlord and Tenant court and they were told to fix the problem. I moved out at the end of the lease.

Recently I checked my credit report and found that they have failed a non-payment. I have reached out to them and they refused to provide any information. What I know so far is that they are charging me $1292.14 of that $530 are legal fees (for when I took them to court) and they are not able to tell me what the reminder is for. In June of 2012 I went to their office and I spoke to their lead account and it was deemed that they had a credit for me. Now they are saying I owe them money.Desired Settlement: I would like this to be closed
