Chi Cha Lounge

Review: This past weekend I was visiting Washington, D.C. from New York City, I used to live in D.C. and frequented this lounge. Myself and nine friends walked into Chi-Cha lounge in the early morning hours of 5/27/13, approximately 1:15am and the establishment was not too busy, people were seated all wrong- I counted four tables that were originally made to seat large groups with only one or two people sitting at them, therefore limiting the amount of tables for actual large groups. It took us 10 minutes to get a table, the waiter mentioned that there were only 3 servers working so it was going to take a long time to get our hookah- once again bad planning on management's part to have only 3 people working during a long weekend, it was Memorial Day weekend.

Our table initially ordered two hookahs, but we had to go and find our waiter before being able to do so, another 10 minute wait and our hookahs were delivered. About 20 minutes later we ordered a third hookah, five minutes after that the lights were turned on and the music turned off. An employee came over and stated, "There was some confusion as to when we were closing, but we are closed now.", it was 2am. Last year I can recall leaving Chi-Cha lounge closer to 3am. For some reason the employees were fixated on getting my large group to leave first. They literally came and took the hookahs out of our hands while we were still smoking, but allowed other groups to continue smoking theirs. I would have NEVER ordered anything if I would have known they were closing in twenty minutes! As my friends and I were walking out the door we heard the bartenders say, "Why you still here, what the (expletive), you don't think we want to go home?", interestingly enough they said this to us when there were 3 other parties still smoking hookah and their employees were "confused" about closing times.

Since then I have emailed Chi-Cha to attempt to get the contact information of the general manager or owner and I have attempted to contact them via [redacted], as of the writing of this review I have not received a response. They pretty much ripped us off of $50 for 20 minutes, were superiorly unprofessional, and the treatment we received was so aggressive.Desired Settlement: I would like to be contacted by management, issued an apology and complimentary service if I decide to visit Chi-Cha Lounge again.

I am rejecting this response because: several of the statements made in the response are untruthful. Attached please find the only email correspondance I have had with anyone from Chi Cha Lounge as well as my outreach to the establishment via [redacted]. My party and I did not escalate the situation to the General Manager for several reasons- we only saw wait/bar staff, we were on the receiving end of aggressive behavior and didn't want the situation to escalate further so we agreed to contact management at a later time.

The manager on duty on 10/8/2015 by the name of Ida, did a horrible job representing the company. She was very rude, and did not treat potential paying customers with respect. She falsely accused a young African American man of being drunk and refused him entry into the establishment. When she was explained to, in a respectful, civilized manner that he was in fact sober she continued to refuse him entry in a disrespectful tone. To treat potential paying customers with that negative attitude should be brought to the owners attention.
