Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/09/13) */
Homeowners patio was completed as desired beyond her expectations as addressed in the contract. (See exhibit attached) Contract addresses that customer will provide a wash out area. Homeowner was told patio can be used once dry and I...

personally assisted in moving her patio furniture/fixtures back on patio. Homeowner allowed her pets to run through wash out area and track dusty/dirty foot prints over our work. Contract also states that contractor is not responsible for protecting finished work. Homeowner called our company concerning foot prints. My project manager personally went out to her home immediately and cleaned patio. Color variation is from acid washing. Contractor is willing to apply another coat of sealer to patio but there is a cost associated with this.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/09/15) */
The Owner shall not enter the work area until the installation is ready for use. The contractor is not responsible for overspray or splatter of products and minimal damage to property. Minimal is at the edge of the lawn that is next to the patio.
The damages were excessive in the area they rinsed in. The finished area became damaged due to the excessive paint in the lawn. Workers stated when they came back to clean it sorry for the mess, it usually soaks into the ground and that the village would have fined them if they rinsed their things in the street. I was also told that they would come back to seal the patio in the acid wash area and that has not happened. This all happened because of how they cleaned their equipment in my yard. This is a contractor error resulting from how they cleaned equipment carelessly.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/09/19) */
Initial response is still pertains. We do not use paint. I personally visited site and spent time with the owner moving her furniture and shed which supposedly was directly behind area in question. It was/is not excessive. Our company can not be held responsible for damage caused by owners pets. Although we did take care of it for her. We will more than happily come back and perform a clean and seal, but need to be compensated for time and material. Contract work has been completed in its entirety beyond satisfaction.
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2014/09/20) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I would like to know contractors definition of a wash area and proper disposal of chemicals. I would like the MSDS as requested for the chemicals used to overlay my concrete. I would like to know is this normal practice to have a wash area that kills an extensive area of lawn. I would like to know if it is contractors common practice to leave wash area as did in my yard for all contracts. Due to the condition of the wash area is what has caused all of this. Is it contractors practice to email client stating that they will come back and seal coat acid wash area but never answer phone or emails? This is the first time through Revdex.com that I have been told it would cost me extra from contractor.

Customer is responsible for providing or directing a suitable washout area. All products used are "Green" in washout area. Grass will grow back, turned brown more than likely from stress caused by foot traffic in a narrow path. As stated before we would be more than happy to perform a clean and seal, but have to be compensated for our time and material.

I have email dated August 1st from [redacted] stating ,they Will be out to throw another coat of sealer on it.
On August 7th an email stating that [redacted] is going on vacation and that his worker will take care of it , and if not he would take care of it when he returns.
Did not hear from this company again until Revdex.com contacted them. Not once until Revdex.com notified Chicago Decorative Concrete was the mention of additional costs ever mentioned.

In short I would NOT recommend Chicago Decorative Concrete. Chris came out and I showed him the floor in the office NEXT door and asked if they could do the same. A simple concrete overlay with minimal natural texture. Here is what transpired next.

Floor #1- Day one none of the equipment was working (grinder and vacuum). the job was to be 3.5 days and already would be 2 days over due. The 1st floor had lots of "fan" pattern texture. Clearly Chris had not told Jake and the team what I wanted. 20ft away was a whole office with what I was wanting. ** Not listening to customer wants/needs

Floor #2- Jake was nice and agreed with Chris to redo the floor using a different material. This batch was "bad" and was overstock from another job. Fair enough, they have to buy minimum amounts. They agreed to redo it a third time. ** Poor material management.

Floor #3- Floor was better but had HUGE swirl marks and major color contrast issues in 3-4 areas. Basically the whole floor was grey and in 4 spots there was dark grey swirls and drips. At this point I was fine to let it go. Not what I really wanted, but was willing to move on. ** Was not honest about what they can actually do.

The breaking point issue was with the clear top coat. Jake and crew put down the clear coat and I paid the remainder thinking all would be ok. Jake agreed on a discounted price as the job took weeks to finish instead of the agreed upon 3-4 days. ** DO NOT pay until the final coat is FULLY DRY!

However, the top coat dried with white spots and roller marks all over. I called/text to tell them how it dried and that it did not look like anything we agreed upon. In short, after another couple of weeks going back and forth they said I had to pay the FULL amount if I wanted them to come back out and redo the top coat as per our agreement. ** At the end of the day they DO NOT CARE about their customers if the cost of THEIR mistakes are too high. My time and inconvenience was of no concern.

Crappy Co. Crappy materials and just a bad Co. to deal with.
