As the owner of Chicago Inspection Agency, I felt compelled to respond to our lone negative review, as I wasn't given the opportunity to address it at the time the review was posted, and as there is no way to respond once the review is posted. While we take every complaint we receive very seriously, we never received any complaints, save one, in many, many, years...probably something to do with over 40 years home building/inspecting experience. No customer has contacted us about any chimney' issues, and we have no record of any "Lynn" in our system except some of the realtors who use us regularly. We are left doubting the veracity of this review, as it bears no resemblance to any other review we've ever had save one...We did receive a negative comment on another review site, and that person turned out to be a local drunk who resented the fact that we helped the owner escort her from a restaurant, and maybe this is her.... Also, chimney's are easy....we can only comment on what their exterior's look like, and we say that the flue "NOT FULLY VISIBLE" on every single report we've ever done...we can only comment on visible damage at the time of the inspection, or heavy creosote buildup within the flue...that is it! If this person was our customer, and we can find no record of any such person, we wished they had contacted us. We endeavor to be professional, and do our very best, for every client.

I have used [redacted] on two separate occasions and I found him to be honest, helpful, up front, and on point with his finding on the inspections that he performed for me. He answered all of my questions and responded to all of my phone calls and trust me I called him a lot. He gave me some critical information on one of the properties (THAT I DID NOT WANT TO HEAR), but I followed thought on what he said and it saved me from a lot of wasted time and most importantly MONEY! Brett [redacted] is competent, thorough, and kind. As he examined every inch of an apartment we are buying he explained what he was doing. He is an expert in the inspection business and we would highly recommend him and his agency.

Brett did a terrible job with our home inspection, and, as a result, has cost us a lot of money. He missed obvious defects and problems, including a significant issue with our chimney, which was quite expensive to repair. This was a problem that should've come up in the inspection, and absolutely would've been negotiated with the seller. But this is not the first time a home repair has come up; one that we were told by the specialist who ultimately repaired it that it absolutely should've been found by the home inspector and would've been addressed prior to the close. I do not recommend anyone looking for a home inspector call this company. There are plenty of experienced, professional, and ethical home inspection companies out there. This, from our experience, is not one of them.
