On March 12th Children of America (COA) sent out a notice that the center would be closed due to coronavirus. It also stated that families would not be responsible for payment during this closure. March 19th COA sends out an email asking the families to continue to pay the tuition and stating that if we do not that the center will not be able to reopen. They also stated that they will be paying their employees 50% of their salary and are advising them to collect unemployment for the other 50%. And the the tuition will go towards the 50% of their salaries as well as operating costs. We sent an email asking why we were told we were not responsible for paying while it was closed and then told we are expected to pay full tuition while it is closed. The response reiterated the information in the March 19th email. We replied again and said that it was abuse of the situation and got no reply. Later that night they announced they submitted a waiver to operate due to the amount of essential workers that attend. We are not essential workers and are working remote for our employers while have to care for our 2 toddlers. So the center is still not open to us however we were told if we did not pay we would be sent to collections. I followed up with director again today (24th) since she did not respond to our email from the 19th to ask how this was going to be resolved since we are not essential workers and she said we had to withdrawal our children so that we do not get billed. However there is a 2 week notice. She did not respond until it was one day too late for us to not get billed for next month. So COA will be paid for 6 weeks of daycare services which they have not provided due to coronavirus shutdown. They are taking advantage of the system. I do not see how this is lawful. I filled out the withdrawal form for my children however the next payment is in 13 days and the waiver had to be filled out 14 days prior. COA did not notify us that this had to happen until it was too late.

to continue to pay their tuition during this time of uncertainty. We know many families absolutely cannot,
those families will have to follow our standard disenrollment procedures. Children of America is not looking for any
sympathy – just know that without ongoing revenue from our families our schools
are put in a position where they can no longer meet their financial obligations
and potentially may not make it through this pandemic. At this time the company is working day by
day to pay as many team members as we can.
Looking at your account we received your official two weeks’ notice on
3/24/20. Per your rate agreement an
electronic withdrawal notice must be submitted (2) weeks prior to your
children’s last day. Failure to submit
this notice of withdrawal will result in additional tuition charges equal to
two (2) weeks of attendance from the date of notice. At this time Children of America will not be

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, Because they did not charge us for the month of April. We are willing to accept their response to resolve this resolution.
