Children's Primary Dental Reviews (1)

Review: I took my daughters to their location on [redacted] Chula Vista ca for their first check up. It was a good experience. They were both checked and got a good check up and were happy. One of my daughters was 15 and the other was 17 yrs old at this visit. The next time I took them for their routine follow (6mos check up) we were told that they have a new location and was located on [redacted] Chula Vista ca but was still under the same group so I didn't think anything of it at the time. I was shocked to find out that during this visit, I being told while I was also being worked on by the dentist that my younger daughter who was 16 then needed a lot of work and had a lot of cavities! In 6mos time period and would need at least $900 plus worth of work. And while I was still on the chair they also told me that my other daughter who turned 18 yrs old by this time needed sealants done on her molars and of course wouldn't be covered by my dental insurance and cost $700! I didn't sign the consent but apparently had my recently turned 18 yr old sign the consent for treatment without being told it wasn't covered and I would need to pay for out of my pocket. I had asked them why this was not done when we came to the appt 6 mos prior while she was still 17yrs old and would have been covered by my insurance, I got no answer and was just told that I needed to pay. I don't even know if they really put the sealant on my daughter's teeth but I am still receiving a bill to this day. I refuse to pay this since I feel that they took advantage of us and I'm sure a lot of other people. I have sent a complaint to my insurance company as we'll re: the issue but have not heard of an outcome as of yet. I really urge people to be careful when dealing with this people. I am also not alone. They quoted a family friend a ridiculous amount of dental work for his son and good thing he went and got a 2nd opinion before he got taken also by these crooks.Desired Settlement: I just want them sto stop trying to bill me for something I shouldn't have been billed for.

Statement of Facts

[redacted]- Patient has a past due balance of $480.00 for DOS [redacted]- Patient has a past due balance of $120.00 for DOS [redacted]

Treatment plans for both [redacted] and [redacted] were presented and signed by

mom [redacted], she was fully aware that she had a co-pay for the visit.

[redacted]'s total was $120.00 and [redacted]'s was $720.00. The next day, mom [redacted]

contacted our office stating that after going home and realizing she had accepted

to pay $840.00, she claimed she wasn't paying full attention to what she had

agreed to before leaving. She claims she was overwhelmed while here at the

office, and she didn't think she can afford to pay it off all at once. I offered to

work with her and together, we set up a monthly payment of $120.00 until both

accounts were paid off. Mom was so glad we could work out such payment plan

to help her out. She left her credit card information in order for us to charge

$120.00 starting on 6/22/12 which was taken out the following 2 months. When

trying to take a third payment in August 2012, the [redacted] ending in [redacted] suddenly

declined. I contacted her with the news and she simply stated that she was filing a

complaint against our office because she felt she was being overcharged and

wasn't going to pay us anything else. Attempts were made to collect past due

family balance of $600, but remain unsuccessful. She has been our patient from

our [redacted] office and we regret to get this type of complaint. Unfortunately, we

did explain the treatment with cost prior to starting any work on her daughters

and she accepted, as well as signed consent form and financial obligation.

Attached you will find itemized statements for both of her daughters as well as

treatment plans signed by mom.

Sincerely,

Accounting Department
