at our first appointment I learn they are new buyers of a year old home with an outside exposed stone chimney with years of rain exposer years of freeze and thaw damage their only options were to demo and rebuild or tuck-point the interior and exterior of the chimney install gutters to keep
the rain waters from flushing down the sides of the chimneywhich they never didfor years and a life time of rains and freeze and thaw is the cause of the of there chimney condition I did exactly what they asked me to do and recommended regular inspections and maintenanceThey failed to mention the interior condition of there chimney is solid as a rockthey understand what freeze and thaw is but lack the understanding it takes more than three years for your chimneys mortar to crumble and stone to fall apart.after there final inspection they signed the check and understood (disclaimer) at the bottom of there receipt a paragraph that reads. I have read this data base form and understand which areas of my chimney venting system appear to be satisfactory or not satisfactory, The data results are by visual inspection on the appointment date belowData results are for customer safety awareness,as a safety precautionIt is not implied as a certification of fire worthiness, as hidden conditions and construction defects may exist beyond our control

I am rejecting this response because: water ran down chimney for years without entering house In rebuilding sides of chimney, vendor sloped sides so that water pooled against house There have never been gutters on this section of cabin Vendor never mentioned gutters when he came and looked at chimney after defect brought to his attention First excuse was house settlingVendor will say anything to avoid taking responsibility for shoddy workmanship
