Chimneys & Gutters R Us

On August 26, 2013 I had a problem with critters in my attic. The Chimney King company that is listed in the Yellow pages came to fix the problem. They insisted on being paid with a check. They charged me $3600.00 to replace a portion of the roof, put in a roof fan, put a screen around the chimney and remove the critters. The job was done and I paid them. I called the company to say I wanted the roof to be rechecked because I felt the work looked bad. I called them twice to come back to review the work but they never came back. I checked with my insurance to see if I could be reimbursed some of the money. The Chimney King company didn't cooperate with the insurance co. The insurance company sent a Servpro contractor to determine the work done. That contractor said the work was over charged by $2,000.00 and that the work is shoddy and need to be replaced. I am not happy with the work and with the high price of service. I want to warn everyone not to use this company.

Review: This company was initially paid to clean and install a topper on my chimney to prevent elements from entering the chimney in the amount of $450.00. I started to have a problem with downdrafts that was putting out the flame on my hotwater heater. The company was contacted and was paid an additional $585 in cash 7/14.13 to install a chimney topper that would prevent the downdrafs. I am still having problems with downdrafts and rain entering their installed pipe that is attached to my chimney. I have contacted the company from 7/19-7/25/2013 for the repair to be completed, because rain and other elements are entering my chimney through the open pipe they installed. The business owner is aware of the problem, and promised to install a chimney topper 7/25/13, (e.g., which was already paid for in the amount of over $500 in the original bill of sale),but have failed to do so. If this is not taken care of immediately my hot water heater will be damaged. I am requesting that the company keep their word and install the chimney topper or issue a refund of $500.Desired Settlement: If the owner is not willing to install the proper equipment (i.e., chimney topper) that was paid for in the second transaction, I am requesting a refund of $500 to hire another contractor. This matter can be settled by the owner keeping his word and, having the correct chimney topper installed ASAP!
