MaryThe four pieces we are restoring for you will be ready for pick up on July Thank You*** Schulefand

Sent a china plate there that had two pieces broken off. I paid almost $300 for restoration. It has now been over a year (Mar-2015) since they received it and I still have no plate. Last update was in January that it was 80% done but nobody answers my emails anymore.

Review: My name is Richard Davis. In November of 2011 a local clock maker here in california sent the ceramic top and base of an Ansonia clock to Mr. Schulefand to repair and restore to museum quality. I received a quote from Mr. Schulefand for his repair work in February 2012. The quote was for app $2600 and we paid a 50% deposit. At the time of the transaction Mr. Schulefand indicated the repair could take as long as 9 months. I expressed some concern at the time involved but Mr. Schulefand convinced me this was the time necessary to accomplish his work. In approximately October and November of 2012 I contacted Mr. Schulefand both via email and via the phone as to progress and he indicated he needed more time. During the course of 2013 I had a number of email/phone conversations asking for a time commitment to complete the work. Finally, Mr. Schulefand made a commitment to finish his work in a June/July time frame. In June of 2013 we finally received the ceramic top to the clock. I am still waiting for the base. I did send Mr. Schulefand an mail in November of 2013 asking for a final time for completion and a verification that he still has the clock base in his possession. I am so frustrated. I want Mr. Schulefand to complete his work with the quality he committed to. The Ansonia clock in question has been in my wife's family for close to 100 years. Quite frankly, with my wife and I being in our sixties I would like Mr. Schulefand to know that time is passing and would like to enjoy the clock before much more time passes. Thank you!Desired Settlement: As described above I want Mr. Schulefand to meet his commitment to restore the base of our clock with the museum quality he promised. Ideally, I would like the base back within 60 days with the work completed.

P.S. Mr. Schulefand please keep your commitment!

Review: My Mother purchased a large(24")china plate in 1949 in [redacted]. She packed and kept it safe for 20+ years while my Dad traveled to different countries. After my Mom died, I gave the plate to my son, who broke it accidentally. Nov.2012 I saw an article in our paper about Mr. [redacted] repair business. I called him and them sent the plate to him to be repaired. I had it packaged properly to be sent(pack and send). I paid him what I could until I finally paid off the $300 he wanted to repair the plate, around March 2013. He finally sent the plate back to me the last of April 2013. [redacted] delivered the plate. I saw [redacted] throw the large box to the front of the truck. It was April 29th. When I opened it, the 3 pieces were put back together, but it was broken in 9 little pieces. The box did not have "Fragile" written on, and was to small for the large plate. I took photos and sent it to Mr. [redacted]. He then asked me for an estimate, I got two, one on a business card, for $650 then a month later he said after I called him for another estimate, I got on a letter head stationary. He has not called me since the second estimate 8/24/13. He won't email me. He has very poor customer service. [redacted] won't talk to me, because I did not send it.Desired Settlement: I want him to pay me the settlement [redacted] is giving to him. It was not his plate. It is my plate. He is rude and does not back up his word or his promises. I feel he is a real scam artist. He won't return my calls and has not kept me informed to his intentions. I would never recommend anyone sending any china or crystal to him for repair.

Response:

In response to Ms. [redacted] accusations and complaint, the original restoration that Ms. [redacted] had requested was to only cement her plate back togther, the piece would still have missing pieces and the cracks would be visible. When the plate arrived back to Ms.[redacted] via [redacted], after having been restored, the restoration work which we had completed was still intact. In shipping, [redacted] broke the plate in other areas. At the time, Ms. [redacted] stated that the box was damaged, causing damage to the plate inside. However, now she states that it was packed in a box which was to small, which is not correct information. Also, we have not received any money from [redacted] in regards to her claim. If Ms. [redacted] would like to return the plate, we will recement the broken pieces back together, at our expense, as long as she agrees to pay for the shipping both ways.

This plate may have sentimental value to Ms. [redacted], however it has no monetary value since it's damage occured the first time in Ms. [redacted] possesion.

Very Truly Your,

Consumer

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Sincerely,

The plate had 3 pieces that Mr. [redacted] cemented together, that was done well. No pieces were missing as he stated. I feel he did four important things incorrectly.

1)The box was to small, my opinion, or perhaps not packed properly.

2)The large plate was packed rim up. Common sense tells you the base of the plate is the stronger area. It should have been packaged rim down, base up.

3)The box was "Not labeled "FRAGILE"

4)He did not keep his customer informed on all the information [redacted] was sending him. I sent two estimates of the plates value before damage, they stated $650.

I would be a fool to accept his offer of letting me pay another $110 to ship this plate up to him and back to possibly have it damaged again. No, I want this complaint visible where other potential customers can see what kind of a company they are dealing with.

Very Truely Yours,

Review: I located [redacted] on the web. I telephoned him to discuss the repair of a Steuben Crystal penguin. He quoted a reasonable price and I mailed the penguin and the payment to him. He called me and asked for additional payment because the repair was more difficult than he anticipated. I sent him the additional payment. Several weeks ago he told me the penguin was in the mail. I have not received the penguin and he has not responded to approximately five telephone messages.Desired Settlement: Telephone call and receipt of repaired piece in good condition.

Review: I delivered a china/porcelain doll on 11-11-11 and was told it would take one year to complete. It is now going on two years and I cannot get the organization to return my telephone calls. I have tried numerous times within the last two months with no response. When I did reach him several months ago I was told it would be completed within a week. Several months have now passed and I have heard nothing. I fear this family heirloom has either been stolen, damaged by them beyond repair or sold by them. I will take legal action if need be but I would rather not peruse this course. This heirloom is a china/porcelain young girl approximately 18" tall with a cat in her apron with its front paws up in the air attempting to scratch her.Desired Settlement: I want a telephone call/response from them immediately. I want the doll returned to me immediately if they cannot complete it within the next two weeks. Their manor of operations is terrible and I would not recommend them to anyone... FOR GOD'S SAKE WILL THEY JUST RETURN MY CALLS.....

Business

Response:

[redacted] figure will be finished in two weeks time. The piece has not been damaged or stolen or sold it is being restored.

Sincerely,

Review: They have a crystal vase of mine for repair. I have been calling and emailing to get an update; all to no avails. No one is returning my calls.

I have been calling and emailing for 3 weeks. It has been that long when my piece was to be completed. I sent in payment weeks ago. No one has either returned my call or replied to my emailDesired Settlement: Return my call and make the repair and return the vase to me, NOW.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/05/22) */

Mr. hellyers swarovski crystal vase will be shipped out May 22 by UPS tracking number is 1zr06aXXXXXXXXXXXX along with the pieces will be his check number # 1173 in the amount of $ 304.00 a full refund. The vase will not be restored it will be in the same condition as we received it.Sorry for the inconvenience.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2013/05/24) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

As I requested, repair the vase as promised and return it in the time frame stated. There is no explanation as to why they quit returning my calls or replying to my emails. They made several attempts to contact me after receiving the piece and we had a few discussions on the repair options. Once I agreed to the repair and cost and sent the payment, they completely quit corresponding.

I shipped the piece to them in March, discussed and agreed to the repairs in April, mailed a check on April 8. I had been told 3 weeks to make the repair. After that, I never heard from them again.

I may not have any choice in the matter, but DO NOT consider me satisfied with the outcome. This is NO WAY to treat customers.

Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2013/05/27) */

As stated in our earlier response Mr. [redacted] crystal has been returned along with a full refund. We were unable to meet his time line therefore the piece was returned.Again we are sorry for the inconvenience.

Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2013/05/29) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

It wasn't my timeline as stated by Mr. [redacted], it was his. He told me three weeks, then refused to return my calls and emails when I merely ASKED for a status update.

He claims it has already been returned and, though I have yet to receive it, I have no intention of seeking the repairs as promised.

However, I do not consider this proposed resolution acceptable, but will not seek further measures.

The Revdex.com should consider me a very dissatisfied customer of [redacted] & Associates.

Subject: RE: Crystal vase repair---Revdex.com case 84118786

Mr. Schulefand;

Although you told the Revdex.com that you have returned my vase in its original condition, you obviously have not. I am reporting to the Revdex.com again and whatever other proper authorities necessary. It's is shameful that it has come to this, all you had to do was what you said you would do--repair and return the vase. Obviously fulfilling your commitments is something beyond your capabilities.
