The *** vacation rental has bedbugs. We stayed there this past Memorial Day weekend. My son and I slept on the 2nd floor. My son has his own sleeping bag, so we didn't make a case when he and I had some bites on the neck and my tummy. The evening we got home, we noticed his forehead is full of bug bites. Mainly he and I got bug bites. So I contacted the vacation rental company. They said they had someone inspected the whole house, and found no bedbugs. The woman's tone was rather harsh. So am I lying? I sent them pics of my son's forehead (his hair was a bit long, covering the bites). I'm definitely very disappointed about their customer service

There is no truth behind this complaint and, honestly, we feel it is a ploy/scam to get a free vacation, plus some. This was my response to the consumer in a different forum:
"Hello ***, Your stay at *** was from May 24 - 27. On May 29 (48 hours after checking out / 2 nights later) we received an email from you stating someone in your group had "bug bites." A subsequent email you sent stated you thought the home had bed bugs. This is not something we take lightly; as soon as we have any type of report or suspicion of bed bugs, we immediately have the property inspected by a licensed pest control company. This property was inspected less than 24 hours after your report of the suspected bed bugs, and the report came back clear. The exact wording on the report from the licensed inspector was "During today's inspection, I was unable to find any signs of bed bug activity." (A copy of this report is available to the public upon request.) Furthermore, there were guests in the home immediately before you checked in and they had no issues, and the owner has been there after your stay, and again, there have been no issues. While we are very, very sorry to hear of your son's bug bites, we are 100% certain that this property does not have bed bugs. It is likely that the place you stayed for the 2 nights after you checked out of Waterman's Daughter is the culprit, if in fact the bug bites were from bed bugs. Again, we are so sorry to hear of this and that this has happened to your family. If you wish to discuss further, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. In addition, this particular rental has been re-inspected because the consumer states the child that was bitten slept in a sleeping bag they brought with them. This raises concern as to whether or not bed bugs were introduced into this home by this consumer. Again, our report showed the rental was free of any bed bugs or bed bug activity. To demand a full refund plus additional compensation for a non-existent issue is fraudulent on their behalf. I am attaching the inspection report and invoice for reference.

We came home after the trip. Back home, I do not sleep with my son. But only two of us were bitten by bugs. I sleep with my daughter at home, she has no bites. My son brought his sleeping bag, so his body was clean, I didn't notice the bites until we came home because his forehead hair is long and we thought the bites on the neck was due to flies. We realize those were bed bug bites until we got home and saw his forehead, then I'm completely ***. I have some bites on my belly, hands and feet as well. I'm attaching my phone album to show the timeline. This cannot be cheated. I'm also attaching my son's pic to show why I didn't notice the bites. Otherwise I will definitely rush to the office!!! I stand behind my words. The rental company got someone to inspect the house in the morning (not overnight), I suspect the inspector wasn't able to find bed bugs in the day. The bugs normally come out at night. We work in NYC and we live in Chatham NJ, we are not so cheap to merely bluff for a couple hundred. The rental company's attitude *** me off. Even if they don't give me refund, I will still post reviews and file complaint. I will never rent from this company any more. and I want other people to know!!!!

They claim we broke a lamp and extra cleaning was required to clean the house. We broke no lamp and have waited for our refund for over 30 days now
We arrived at the rental property September 2, 2018 and stayed until the 9th. We paid an upfront cleaning fee of *** and a refundable deposit of *** We were told that our refund was coming in 3 weeks this did not occur. All of a sudden extra money was taken for extra cleaning which wasn't the case we washed all dishes and took all the garbage out. Then they claim a lamp was broken but showed us no proof when we questioned it. Then said we were gonna get back *** of out *** so instead of arguing any further I accepted to now be told they are awaiting price of this supposed broken lamp that wasn't in fact broke by us. And now have waited well over 30 days with no resolution

Desired Outcome

We want our full *** refunded

Thank you for notifying us of this complaint. Mr. checked into one of our vacation rental homes on September 2nd, and checked out on September 9th. Our rental homes are cleaned and inspected prior to, and after, each guest. A written inspection report is completed and if there is damage or extra charges are incurred, it is documented in writing and photographs. There were extra charges after Mr. stay due to the condition in which the rental home was left and a broken lamp. Mr. was notified in writing of the security deposit retention *** total), as per the terms of the Guest Rental Agreement that he acknowledged and signed. Our position on this matter stands as-is, and as it has been conveyed to Mr.. On October 16th, he received a refund of the security deposit less the *** retention *** We can be reached during regular business hours at (XXX) XXX-XXXX. Thank you.

Because we also checked and made sure nothing was broke and we already paid *** for a cleaning fee which should've covered clean up after departure. If you charge a cleaning fee you should then also have in righting what the fee covers. People make errors and the lamp in question is on the family room and was not broke when we left. So I believe the error falls on the company's cleaning crew and was pushed off on an unsuspecting family to steal money from us!
