The sales lady thought that I could not afford a dress that we wanted to try on and she refused to let my daughter try it on. Sunday 3/15 @ 5:15 pm. We walked into the store because of a dress we saw on a mannequin at the front. We walked around and looked at dresses on the rack and did not see the dress that we wanted. I was never asked if I could be helped. Only 1 customer was in the store and both employees were helping this one customer to try on dresses. I asked for assistance. The lady that I spoke with was of [redacted] descent but I never got her name. I told her we really wanted the dress up front that was on the mannequin. She began to shake her head no. She told me no, that was the only one and it is a size 12. - But she had not asked me what size we were looking for.- I told her my daughter had just tried on a size 9 in [redacted] so it wasn't too far off. She said she did not understand me. What was a size 9? She told me their seizes in that store were even numbers. OK. I asked her, well, do you have anything similar so that maybe we can test for the size. No, she told me. Not really, she said. You can look around if you like. I told her we really only liked the one dress. I told her it didn't look too big so I started towards the dress and she followed. She looked at the tag and told me oh, it was a size 10. Good, I told her. Perfect. She said, you like this one? Yes. And the price? Is that ok? (It was $500). Yes, the price is fine. Well, we aren't supposed to take the dresses down. I can't take it down unless you are going to buy it. Are you going to buy it? I told her I didn't know. She would have to try it first. She said well, I can't take it off unless I know you can buy it. I told her it sounded like she did not want to take it down for me. She said No. Not really. I told her fine. She just lost out on a $500 sale, she was not helpful and she was rude. She began telling me that she was not rude and repeated the above as I walked out. She was still talking as I left so even though it was not like me, I was being judged and discriminated against when I could afford this dress. (Like pretty woman, except no [redacted]!) My daughter wanted to try on 1 dress and was not allowed to. And from the beginning she was not helpful. And she brought up the money because she thought I could not afford it. Maybe when I go to the mall I shouldn't wear my yoga pants. I'll have to dress like I do for work! Ridiculous!Desired SettlementI hope that this lady is not the owner and not the manager. I would want them to be aware of the service their customers are receiving and the lose of sales that are occurring because of this lady judging people.Business Response Received letter 4/21/2014:I have read the complaint several times, I am sorry there was a misunderstanding. The, [redacted] lady" was doing her job, I watched the tape from this incident the next day. The customer was told that she could make an appointment to try on the dress from the mannequin. The company policy is no mannequins can be undresses during business hours, the vendors pay for this space, customers must make an appointment.Sounds like mrs. [redacted] is a mind reader as twice she said the [redacted] lady thought she could not afford the dress. The [redacted] lady was doing her job..If a customer says they are ready to buy the dress on the mannequin the consultant at that time can take the dress off the mannequin for a sell only. For this woman to have been so rude to my consultant and vulgar even to the point to show her middle finger. How do you view this person. [redacted]General Mgr.Consumer Response I was never told that I could make an appointment. Just that she did not want to take it off unless I was going to buy it. What's funny is. We got a dress at another prom dress store. And it happened to be on the mannequin. They asked me if I wanted them to take it off. No mind reading here. Just a bad experience and I admitted giving the finger. But at least I wasn't completely meak in the situation. Just e tremly upset by her redponses to me znd see other customers being helped but not me. Reading the responses from the manager I see the entire company is inconciderate and rude. At least its on record.
