Chito's Landscaping and Construction

I had a verbal agreement regarding my expectations in addition to a written quote with [redacted] the owner of [redacted] and Construction, and he did not deliver on the results we agreed upon. He assured me that the job would be completed in 1 week. Since July, 29th they have only shown up 5 times, one employee at any given time, for a maximum of only 3 hrs. Despite personally driving Mr. Alvarez to the home which landscape I wanted replicated and constantly showing pictures of that home, he continued to do something completely different. He also tried to increase the agreed upon total cost. When I repeatedly asked to see receipts for material, Mr. Alvarez would refuse. The majority of the material Mr. Alvarez claimed to have purchased was never delivered. When I tried to resolve any problems, Mr. Alvarez would refuse to answer my calls or meet in person. When I would express any concerns I had through text messages, he would make excuses and pass blame to his employees, subcontractors and even me. For example, Mr. Alvarez informed me that two different men he subcontracted to work on my rock wall cheated him of money and insinuated that I am accountable. It is my belief that Mr. Alvarez attempted to recoup that money by cutting corners, marking up prices, buying cheap or wrong material and not showing up to do the work. Because of the excessive issues I was having with Mr. Alvarez. I consulted with another professional landscaper and he informed me that the concrete and the mulch purchased was inappropriate for the intended job and cost significantly less than Mr. Alvarez claimed. He also stated that some of the material had obviously been used. He also criticized the quality of the work done. I personally went to home depot to receive a written estimate of the cost of materials and they were significantly less. I paid a total of $1,450. Three and half weeks have passed and my yard looks worse than before Chito's Landscaping and Construction started working on it. When I attempted to recoup my money I discovered he was using a false address. It is my belief that he never intended to do the job correctly and he just wanted to take my money. I am now in the process of taking legal action.
