Review: My name is [redacted] and I would like to file a complaint againt Susie [redacted] and Choice Center Homes of Mt Airy, NC. I decided to purchase a home by her and her company in September 2014 after two failed appraisals with [redacted]. She claimed everything would go smoothly and quickly as my family just lost our home to a fire. In October 2014, I gave her a deposit with a certified check for $15,000 and the home was ordered. It was in November, her husband's health declined and he was in and out of the hospital. Her husband was the contractor who was to perform the set up work on the property. My land was worked on for a total of one day. Susie said it was due to the weather, my land being rocky and waiting on the county for paperwork. I made numerous calls and was told that engineers had to get involved due to the rocks. I was understanding at first, but as time elapsed, Susie did not touch base with me. In February, she sent an e-mail and I was told she finally got the letter from the engineer and she would contact the mason. She also said that I would not hear from her in awhile as her husband had to have another surgery. I then chose to contact GMH mortgage to see if they could found out when work would be started. They responded and said that Susie told them that work would be started in a week. Two weeks after no work, I e-mailed Susie again and this time my emails were returned with a failed delivery report. I then called the home builders, [redacted], to ask how far along the house was and I was having trouble getting work started on the property. My house was 100% completed in December 2014 and they were waiting to hear from Susie as well. As it now has come to our attention, Susie W[redacted] has embezzled my deposit and the company has shut down. She has also been served papers by another client from the [redacted] Sherriff's office. I would like an investigation to be started and charges to be brought against Susie W[redacted] and Choice Center Homes.Desired Settlement: HOPEFULLY, I can get my deposit back and be compensated for the time, effort, time off work, and the personal work I did on the property that I was told to have completed before set up. My deposit was all the money I had left after the insurance settlement.
