Choice Services, Incorporated Reviews (2)

Review: I contacted this contractor about three weeks ago to schedule maintenance / repair visit only to find out that their out of business! "Albert Marinari" the owner, tells me that because he's supposedly out of business (but he's still registered and advertising), and he can't honor the "10 year parts and labor warranty" that came with my installation / "contract", after only 3 years? So at this point, he refers me to another contractor, which I have to pay, when I thought I had a warranty/guarantee ? So now I'm incurring expenses when it should be covered!Desired Settlement: I think this contractor should be obligated to honor my warranty / guarantee for the remainder of my contract which expires 3/22/2021. Alternatively, they should compensate me for the expense to secure another "parts and labor contract" to cover the remainder of my current "contract". In addition, any repair cost incurred to maintain my heater systems during this time should be reimbursed.

Review: This contractor accepted a diagnosis / work order contract through "[redacted]" with full knowledge that it would not be able to honor it's warranty, maintenance and or service contract due to it's geographical location, as well as it's lack of certified technicians. I was not made aware of these circumstances until after the installation of a new heating system costing almost $9000. I have had to make appointments a week in in advance for heater repairs, only to have them canceled a half hour before the scheduled time, after taking off from work to meet their rigid schedule. Various excuses have been given including the lack of technicians, with no recourse for my lost time! There has also been an ongoing dispute about the installation and location of the pressure relief valve (directly over the electronic equipment for the system).Desired Settlement: Percentage refund, to cover the cost of relocating the pressure relief valve, as well as the cost to obtain a warranty from a "local heating company", who can maintain, warrant and service the system for the balance of the stated contract. "Fully staffed and within a reasonable amount of time".

Response:

Dear **. [redacted],

**. [redacted]'s complaint today was prompted because I had to call him to reschedule a 12 noon tune up on his system, which we installed for him in march 2011. The reason we had to reschedule was due to the technician, whose family member had died this morning. The technician was here at the shop this morning preparing for his day when the call came in and he left work immediately to be with his family. I called **. [redacted] around 9:30AM.

**. [redacted] had a home warranty through [redacted]) which asked us to issue a second opinion on the condition of **. [redacted]'s old boiler, on which someone/something had broken the firebox causing the fire to be exposed to the front of the unit. Additionally the old boiler had deteriorated and was in generally poor condition. Clearly it was unsafe and needed to be replaced. It is my understanding that **. [redacted] received buyout money from [redacted] to replace his boiler instead of having an [redacted] contractor replace it. He chose us to install a high efficiency boiler that he wanted. He knew where we were located, what our manpower capabilities were and our maintenance agreements. Indeed, we have been to his home in December 2012 to do routine maintenance for which he paid $84. There has not, nor is there a dispute regarding installation or a pressure relief valve, the latter of which I discussed just several days ago when **. [redacted] called and said he had water on his basement floor, since dried, but saw no evidence of leaks or no explanation of where the water could have come from. The boiler was operating properly, providing both heat and hot water, per **. [redacted]. He requested a t-up which was scheduled for 10/29/2013. Since installation there have not been any issues. Equipment warranties are provided by the manufacturer. **. [redacted], as well as any homeowner, can purchase a maintenance plan from a contractor of his choice and provide service to him as he desires. Maintenance was not and is not part of the installation agreement.

Very Truly,
