It is unfortunate that after everything I did for this family, it has come to thisRegardless of the back and forth, I have proof of my position, our correspondance and the actual time frame of what actually happened...what they stated is not accurate at all When the ***'s hired me to do this project I did an amazing job and have emails of them saying soWhen I was completing this project I had told them the products I would be using and that the best polyurethane to use for something with high traffic was oil based and that it would slightly yellow...they didn't have a problem with my choice until a month or so later when they said they were starting to yellow like I had saidAfter originally saying I'd redo the cabinets for half price since it wasn't a mistake I made (I have their agreement in writing), I finally decided I would redo the cabinets for free just to make a happy client and so I would have positive referralsIt did take me a while before I could take this project on a second time because of other paying jobs that were on my calendar prior to this issue, and due to having to move to Larkspur at the same time...we did come get the cabinet doors again in OctoberI had said many times that I would not be held to a time frame because they had to be correct and could not be rushed in the curing time like they were by the client the first time...everything had to be done on their time frames due to parties, etc...rather than allowing the job to be done when it should be done (curing process, etc....) The ***'s claim that I just painted over the cabinets and returned them damanged, but when would I spend so much time working on something a second time for free if I was just going to do that!?! I have proof with pictures of what the cabinets looked like during the process as well as witnesses who saw me sanding them down for days! I did not polyurethane them a second time because of the complaint though, so they were sanded down carefully (as not to loose the wood grain they made very clear many times), then painted with two new coats of paint and returned What I felt was amusing is that the first thing they said was that I didn't do anything to them and that they were exactly the same...then I guess they weren't that yellow to begin with if they couldn't tell the difference of the new paint job! Then they claimed I had done them but just painted over the polyurethane...again, not true and I have proof I did not go into their home again for three reasonse: First was because of the threats and incredibly unprofessional treatment of me and my family...there was so much annimosity simply because I took longer during the repair than they would have liked, so I was unwilling to go into their home againSecond was because I had told them what it would take to do the cabinet bases correctly and they told me NO and that I would have to figure out a way to redo them without any mess whatsoever...if I can't do the job correctly then I won't put myself into that type of liable positionLastly, they owe me $for a project they hired my children to do and gallons of paint I purchased but they refused to pay the bill and said it was inflated even though I have receipts to prove the cost of paint I purchased and they have posession ofI'm simply unwilling to work with people like this, especially when my children were left unpaid for a hard few days of work in the hot sun on their summer break! In the ***'s response as to what they want from this, they stated a full refund and that I should pay for the job to be redone...what! So not only am I refunding their money as though the project didn't already happen twice, but I'm supposed to pay to have their cabinets done by someone else...that makes no sense at all and shows you what I'm dealing withThese people are unpleasable and I should never have ta [redacted] the job...there were red flags all over the place, but I thought it would be okay because I was confident in my workThere were at least other companies/contractors they had issues with during and prior to my arrival as well...no one is good enough and everyone's jobs are picked apart regardless of their lack of quality or ability to perform our work! Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/05/22) */
*** *** hired us to do an addition and remodel on her home (after having us remodel her upstairs bathroom earlier in the year...she was thrilled with our work)After many emails and texts that she was extremely happy with us, our work
and the hurdles we had worked through for her (there were many), she fired usUntil this alert from the Revdex.com I had no idea why since all she had done was praise us up to that pointThis entire situation makes no sense since we had barely started our own personal work on the project...most of what was completed to that point was done by subcontractors we hired to do things we do not do ourselves such as foundation, electrical and plumbing!
By her terminating our employment she put herself in breach of contract...not only is she in breach, but she also stole all of our equipment that was in her home and will not return it, she is hiding it off site somewhere...this includes a very expensive Dewalt chop saw, a large air compressor, hoses, tables, a Dewalt work radio, the lock boxes on her home that we purchased for her project as well as our personal signage that was in her front yard...this I found in the dumpster!
She claims I told her that the foundation, electrical and plumbing were completed, but I never said that...in fact, when she tried to say this to me while using proof of a text I wrote her months ago, the text proved in my favor, that I said things were close and needed a few more days, etc...I never said things were done before they wereRegardless of her thinking I said something I didn't (even with written proof in my favor), she is still in breach of contract and illegally holding my equipment, which is theft
I do not owe *** *** any money and even though I've given an account of the amounts the subcontractors were paid and the money owed for our personal work, she refuses to accept the accounting as accurate and is trying to get funds that were paid to build her house out of me! Unfortunately for her I do not pay for people's homes to be built out of my pocket and do not owe *** *** any money
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/05/27) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The sub contractors were not paid any money and the percentage complete of my property was analyzed by an independent third partyThe amount due from Choice is $39,I have an email of her accounting that shows that according to her accounting she owes me $16,back
The tool accusation is ridiculous and shows how disparate and sleazy this company is
Final Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2015/05/29) */
Desperate and sleazy are the most ridiculous adjectives I've ever heard for myself or my business, anyone who knows us and works with us knows that we are the hardest working people out there!
This former client is illegally in breach of contract, she is a thief and for some reason trying to hurt me and my family...it is so very unfortunate what people try to do to small businesses, and we have to pay thousands of dollars in attorneys fee's just to protect ourselves from her illegal actionsWhere is the forum where the business can tell the world about the people out there with goals to hurt, embarrass and steal from you and everything you've worked so hard to build!?!
Again, we do not owe this woman anything, our accounting proves that as well as the fact that she is in breach which means she owes us! She absolutely stole thousands of dollars of equipment, she wouldn't respond to texts, calls or emails when we showed up to her home and our stuff was gone and the lock boxes we purchased were used to lock us out with no notice, conversation or reasoning whatsoever! I'm sure when she ignored all attempts to recover our equipment that it was because she was completely innocent!
Regardless of being attacked and fired for absolutely nothing, we aren't even trying to hurt this client, we just want our stuff back and to be left alone...we've moved on regardless of how much she hurt us but she continues to attack us with no basisI've chosen not to do the same...I'm not out to hurt people
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 14, 2015/06/01) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The work she claimed to have done and the sub contractors she said were hired were never paid a dimeThe electrician and the excavator have confirmed this under oathThe framing they said was 50% complete was only 7% complete and that 7% must be redoneThe foundation she claimed was complete needed to be dug out and waterproofed
They owe me $40,back for work not completedThese people are not ethical and should NOT EVER be trusted with your money or property

When the [redacted]'s hired me to do...

this project I did an amazing job and have emails of them saying so. When I was completing this project I had told them the products I would be using and that the best polyurethane to use for something with high traffic was oil based and that it would slightly yellow...they didn't have a problem with my choice until a month or so later when they said they were starting to yellow like I had said. After originally saying I'd redo the cabinets for half price since it wasn't a mistake I made (I have their agreement in writing), I finally decided I would redo the cabinets for free just to make a happy client and so I would have positive referrals. It did take me a while before I could take this project on a second time because of other paying jobs that were on my calendar prior to this issue, and due to having to move to Larkspur at the same time...we did come get the cabinet doors again in October. I had said many times that I would not be held to a time frame because they had to be correct and could not be rushed in the curing time like they were by the client the first time...everything had to be done on their time frames due to parties, etc...rather than allowing the job to be done when it should be done (curing process, etc....).

Lastly, they owe me $500 for a project they hired my children to do and 10 gallons of paint I purchased but they refused to pay the bill and said it was inflated even though I have receipts to prove the cost of paint I purchased and they have posession of.
