Services were rendered for myself and son on August 25, 2020 at noon by ***, a stylist at the Chop Shop All-In in Hazelwood, MO. I observed that employees and clients (adults and children) were not adhering to COVID-19 mask mandates or social distancing. The stylist asked my son to remove his mask twice while doing his hair. At this time, she was not social distancing or wearing a mask. I informed the stylist that I preferred that he wear a mask; and later in private, I informed her that my son has an underlying health condition. I stated that it bothered me that the establishment was so lax in their mask requirements. She told me I should've left when I noticed only one person had on a mask. An email after booking my appointment on August 23, 2020 stated that "*** has a 50% cancellation fee and can take it at discretion." It is for this reason that I did NOT cancel my appointment and stayed because at least my son and I were wearing masks. During my visit, I also noted that staff were unprofessional in their frequent profanity usage in the presence of children in the shop, boisterous behavior, and talking about the clients they served. *** quoted a final price of $140 (wash, retwist, and detox services) and was told payment would be accepted via Cash App or cash. I paid and tipped *** via Cash App $150 for her services. I was told my card, which I used to secure my appointment, would not be charged. I checked my bank statement and was charged an additional $70 from "GLOSS***," which I feel was done in spite. I was so disgusted after the way my son and I had been treated that I left. *** was more upset that I walked out with hair clamps still in my head than she was at the health risk they subjected us all to at the shop and her "unacceptable" attempt to rectify this situation. I do not recommend this business!
