Review: We hired Chrisnic to put an extension on our house in Jan 2015. The work was never started and after a series of phone calls from me trying to find out when they were starting and being given the runaround with no one calling me back we decided we did not want this company working on our house. We cancelled the contract on June [redacted] and are still waiting for our deposit to be returned to us. I emailed Chrisnic on June [redacted] to ask about the status of our refund and was told it was under review. I sent a certified letter to Chrisnic which they received on July [redacted]. We paid a deposit of $3570 on Jan [redacted]. The architect was paid $1800 so we want the remaining money back of $1750. There is no reason for Chrisnic to keep this money as they didnt order any materials for the job and they could barely fit us in to their schedule. The reason we decided to cancel our contract with Chrisnic was the repeated lack of communication form Chrisnic and their inability to give us a start date. Here is a timeline of the events: Jan [redacted] signed contracts and gave deposit of $3750. Approx start date of April [redacted] given April [redacted] Hadnt heard from Chrisnic so called to see when they would be starting, was given a date for a walk through April [redacted] Walk through with Ken, he was late and I had to call the office to see if he was coming. Finally came 2 hours later. He said it would be 2 to 3 weeks before they could start May [redacted] Three weeks later had heard nothing from Chrisnic. Called Ken and he said it would possibly be the following week. May [redacted] Received an email to say Ken had quit the company and we would have to do another walk through with Chris but he was away until May [redacted]. Was assured we were at the top of the list and would schedule a walk through as soon as he got back. May [redacted] Had heard nothing from Chrisnic so I had to call to try and schedule a walk through date again. She could not give me a date but said she would call back later. She did not. May [redacted] Had to call again to ask for a walk through date. They had no idea who I was or what I was calling about so she obviously had no intention of calling me back. She said the next available date for a walk through was next Tuesday June [redacted]. I told her this was unacceptable as we had waited so long already. May [redacted] Received a call to say they could do a walk through on May [redacted]. May [redacted] Walk through with Chris and Chris Junior. Still wasnt given a start date. Was told they would call on Monday June [redacted] and give us a start date. June [redacted] Heard nothing from Chrisnic June [redacted] Had heard nothing from Chrisnic by 5pm. At this point we had completely lost faith in Chrisnic, I was tired of calling and trying to chase people down for answers. We decided to cancel our contract. June [redacted] Received several phone calls to try to get us to change our mind. June [redacted] Received an email to say that they could start the following week June [redacted] or [redacted]. I informed Chrisnic that it was our final decision to cancel the contract. June [redacted] Emailed Chrisnic to find out the status of our refund. Was told it was under review. June [redacted] Emailed again and have yet to receive a reply. July [redacted] - Sent a certified letter to ask for the return of our deposit which they received on July [redacted].July [redacted] Havent heard anything from ChrisnicDesired Settlement: We would like our deposit of $1750 backAt this point we haven't heard anything from them in over a month and they obviously have no intention of returning our money. We paid them $3750 for the initial deposit and the architect was paid $1800 out of that for the plans. We paid the filing fees to the town ourselves separately. Therefore we think it is fair to ask for the remaining $1750 back.

The contractor, ChrisNic Construction, owner, Christopher T[redacted]. T[redacted] utilizes a separate entity to purchase the materials, [redacted] at the same address,

We provided made a deposit via credit card for $5400 for the materials, to [redacted], 4/*/15.

As of today we paid $5100 for labor. The kitchen was gutted and new sheet rock was installed. Both companies have failed to return our calls about completing the job. The cabinets and all other materials have not been delivered.

Today, 7/**/15, we discovered from a source that [redacted] was closing its doors and that the construction part of the business Chrisnic was going out of business. There is a for sale sign on the building. Our salesman no longer works at the store.

Several laborers advised that they are no longer employed with Chrisnic and [redacted] and both companies were closing their doors and going out of business.Desired Settlement: I want the job completed.

Deliver the cabinets that we ordered.

I want the cabinets installed, with back splash and countertop.

OR

REFUND OF $5400

Review: I entered a contract with Chrisnic Construction back in September of 2013 to build addition on the upper floor of my home along with other work.

The project started the first weeks of April of 2014 and as of know the work is not done.

The general contract working on my project ([redacted]) brought to my attention termite damage to the front of my house on April **, 2014.

The repairs were made and checked by [redacted] on May *, 2014.

As of now I have no siding, sheet-rook, insulation, and electricity to the majority of my home.

My wife, 8 year old son, 4 year old doughter, and myself only have access to 3 rooms.

We are currently sleeping in the basement on one matters because that's all that can fit.

I've reached out to Chrisnic and [redacted] many times within the past two weeks asking when work will pickup again on my project.

I have a text from [redacted] the general contract promising that work will start again today on the [redacted].

I have already paid for windows and siding and that was over two weeks ago and the work as yet to be finished.

Please help me and my family get this job done.Desired Settlement: ASAP Please, please help!

Finish the job.

Response:

Chrisnic stopped work on the job once the termite damaged was discovered, the customer did repair the termite damage themselves, unfortunately do to the unforeseen termite damaged, Chrisnic had to stop working while the customer completed the repairs. After advising Chrisnic the termite repairs were complete, Chrisnic advised the customer the week of May [redacted], we would put them back on the schedule for the siding to be done. Unfortunately that week saw 2 days of rain and 3 days of heavy winds, over 20 mph with gusts to mid 40's. With such weather it is not possible for Chrisnic to do the required siding work. The week of May ** Chrisnic advised the customer that because of this we would return to work on his house the week of May **, attempting to start the siding on Monday May **. Unfortunately Friday and Saturday May ** & ** saw very heavy rains and further pushed Chrisnic siding schedule back. On Monday May ** Chrisnic advised the customer that because of the problems the previous week, we will be be unable to start the work until Tuesday May **, 1 day behind schedule.
