CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTOMOTIVE-NEW BRAUNFELS Reviews (%countItem)

Took my 2013 Kia Optima to the shop to get the AC looked at. I told them that the AC blows cold when it blows but the blower sometimes goes slow or not at all. But it never blows hot always cold. Told them that another show said the compressor was bad but they never checked the blower or anything inside the car. So I took it to Christians and told them what happened. Told them that a couple other mechanics said it sounds like the blower motor was getting hot and shutting off. They said they would do a complete check of the AC unit. I ask are they going to check the gauges, fan as well? I was told yes we will check everything AC related. I was told the next day that the compressor was bad. I asked did they check the gauges and fan areas as well and told yes everything else was function correctly. I authorized the repair and came to pick up the car. Got in the car and turned on the AC and nothing happened. Told the shop representative and he looked at it and brought it back in the shop. They checked it and said the BLOWER was bad. The same thing I told them at the very beginning that it maybe. So instead of doing baby steps in determining the problem they wen straight to testing freon levels. I should have just paid for a AC check of the blower and blower replacement. Instead I was charged a AC system replacement and given a blower after they discovered they made a mistake. I feel they didn't look out of the customer by starting with the chief complaint instead went for the high dollar labor item. I don't have room for the other research I have done in this matter to place on here. This is my second step after talking to the manager about the situation before talking a military attorney.

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTOMOTIVE-NEW BRAUNFELS Response • Aug 17, 2020

Dear
Revdex.com,

We are aware of ***'s
concern. However, this was a legitimate repair. Please check our excellent
public reviews and you will see that we are a highly reputable business that
bends over backwards to serve our customers. As a matter of fact we did not
charge *** for the part or labor on the failed blower motor that was no
fault of ours. His AC system and related components failed as a function
of age and time. We were simply trying to retain a customer is the reason we
did not charge him for the additional part and labor.

Below I am listing our ASE Level
3 Master Technician's comments about this repair and we will also supply a
photo that we took of the gauges attached to ***'s AC system during the course our digital inspection. The photo is of
the gauges on our AC machine that measured the pressure on the compressor
and clearly show that the compressor was failing.

During
your first repair, your technician, Patrick, recommended replacement of the A/C
compressor as well as the condenser and expansion valve. This repair is recommended when a compressor
fails internally and causes metal contamination in the A/C system. These particles will continue to
flow through the system and cause other damage, including damage to the newly replaced compressor.

Below
are the notes directly from your technician before the repair:The
refrigerant circuit was fully charged. After recharge, the compressor was found
to be inoperable. Even when commanded to full pressure, no pressure was created. No fault codes found
in the AC system. The compressor has failed internally. Repair recommendation is to replace the
compressor as well as the condenser and expansion valve due to metal contamination in the A/C system from
the compressor failure, along with flushing the lines.

After replacement of these components, the system tested perfectly, and blew
cool air as it should. Upon pickup, it was noted that no air was coming from the vents, meaning there was
an intermittent blower motor failure that did not present itself during initial testing, or testing after the first repair.
During all testing up until this point, air was moving out of the vents without issue. Justin, another technician, pulled
in your vehicle now that the issue was happening and able to be diagnosed, and found your blower motor to be
intermittently failing due to a bad plug. This issue had not happened for us in the time the vehicle was in the
shop, but the blower motor is being replaced at no cost to you to show our appreciation for your patience
with us during this issue. We sincerely appreciate your business!

Regarding the picture of the
gauges measuring the pressure coming from ***'s compressor, you can see that the high side gauge is at approximately 75 PSI and that the low side gauge is at
approximately 84 PSI. If the compressor would have been
functioning properly, the high side pressure should be at approximately 275+ PSI and the low side
pressure should be at approximately 50 PSI. Note that AC pressures vary according to ambient temperature. Please see this following AC pressure chart, that generally shows were automobile AC pressure should be on the high and low side of the AC system.

It is my hope that my response to this complaint will explain our side and rectify this unfortunate situation.

Sincerely

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

As stated before if the first step of checking the initial issue of the blowing inconstancy then I believe the issue would have been resolved. Then IF the problem would have continued then it would be reasonable to believe maybe the expansion valve or something else may have been the problem. The pictures don't tell the whole story as they can be from any car as there is no way to know it is from the Kia. I have reviewed this with several different mechanics. It doesn't add up to the problem the car was having and the diagnosis that was given. Then pick up the car and it was still doing the something just doesn't make sense. The statements that were provided to me in person from the mechanic were two different statements. Later this week I should able to meet the military attorney as I am out of town the beginning of the week.

Yes you may not have any complaints on the Revdex.com that may be true. But this is a fairly new company in New Braunfels and have yet to register with the Revdex.com for whatever reason. But I was just being respectful and going step by step. I spoke with the advisor, spoke with the manager and now I spoke thru the Revdex.com. So next step is with the attorney. Thanks for your time and have a great day.

Regards

CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTOMOTIVE-NEW BRAUNFELS Response • Aug 17, 2020

Dear Revdex.com,

I am sorry that *** is rejecting our response as everything we did was legitimate. We would NEVER do anything dishonest nor would I allow anyone to work here who is dishonest. I take exception to the comment about the pictures could be from any car as we sent the exact same pictures to him after we completed our digital inspection. I have reattached the pic, note the time stamp on the photo. We send most customers the results of our digital inspection. We sent this same report with pictures to ***, according to my records he received and viewed this report on 8/4 @ 3:35pm. We have been open in New Braunfels for over eight years, we do a lot for this community and have a great reputation. Yes it is true that I'm NOT nor will I ever be a member of the Revdex.com due to a negative prior personal experience I had with a remodeling contractor and Revdex.com Member that was not rectified.

We will await ***'s next step. We are confident that we did the right thing.

Sincerely,

***
