The complaint details are not a fair representation of the entire story There was never an agreement regarding a refund Mr [redacted] requested a refund for the work done related to the driveability of the engine, but instead we agreed to perform work related to the potential worn springs in good faith, as this may be related to the poor driveability and misfires The following details the reportMr [redacted] brought his vehicle in for repairs Diagnosis revealed multiple misfires possibly caused by coolant leaks onto the coil and plug, and the vehicle had a leaky radiator and faulty water pump pulleyThe customer agreed (and signed) to the diagnosis where it detailed what we found, what we were going to do and the possibility that more repairs might be needed beyond the initial repairs due to age (1997), mileage( 306K) and engine condition He elected to proceed with the initial repairsWe replaced plugs, coil, radiator, water pump and repaired the oil leakAfter job completion and during the initial test drive we did not notice any issues with the vehicle Everything seemed to be fine Mr [redacted] returned the next day with the same symptomsUpon further testing, the misfires continued but on different cylinders Upon trying to determine the cause of the misfires, pinpoint testing suggested the possibility of worn springs and potentially worn internal engine components Replacing the springs in this vehicle requires a significant amount of time and laborIn good faith, we agreed to replace the worn springs at no cost (parts and labor) to Mr*** Unfortunately, the misfires continued At this time we recommended to the customer to not proceed spending any additional money on the vehicle as the estimated costs to continue would be significant Mr [redacted] agreedFurthermore, there was no mistake on our part The initial diagnosis and all the replaced parts were indeed broken and in need of repair The fact that additional repairs were needed and not elected by the customer are not cause for validation of a refund

Mr***,I am sorry to hear that you were unhappy with our service It is our policy to ask if you would like us to look over your entire vehicle when you bring it in for service Our courtesy inspection is offered at no charge to you so that you are aware of the condition of your
entire vehicle Many times the cost of repairs of a vehicle of this age can be very significant My notes show that you did request a courtesy inspection, therefore we did look over the entire vehicle The services you elect to have performed or not is completely at your discretion In regards to your wheel hub I am showing that the estimate we provided to repair the bearing came to $ The cost of the front hub/bearing was $and the labor was $ Because our warranty is 2yr/24,miles (whichever comes last) we are unable to use less expensive parts Also, the labor associated with this application hrs The oil change was for a synthetic blend and comes to $ Regards,

Mr. [redacted],
I am sorry to hear that you were unhappy with our service.  It is our policy to ask if you would like us to look over your entire vehicle when you bring it in for service.  Our courtesy inspection is offered at no charge to you so that you are aware of the condition of...

your entire vehicle.  Many times the cost of repairs of a vehicle of this age can be very significant.  My notes show that you did request a courtesy inspection, therefore we did look over the entire vehicle.  The services you elect to have performed or not is completely at your discretion.  In regards to your wheel hub.  I am showing that the estimate we provided to repair the bearing came to $523.  The cost of the front hub/bearing was $360 and the labor was $163.  Because our warranty is 2yr/24,000 miles (whichever comes last) we are unable to use less expensive parts.  Also, the labor associated with this application 1.5 hrs.  The oil change was for a synthetic blend and comes to $55.
Regards,

The complaint details are not a fair representation of the entire story.  There was never an agreement regarding a refund.  Mr. [redacted] requested a refund for the work done related to the driveability of the engine, but instead we agreed to...

perform work related to the potential worn springs in good faith, as this may be related to the poor driveability and misfires.  The following details the report.
Mr. [redacted] brought his vehicle in for repairs.  Diagnosis revealed multiple misfires possibly caused by coolant leaks onto the coil and plug, and the vehicle had a leaky radiator and faulty water pump pulley. The customer agreed (and signed) to the diagnosis where it detailed what we found, what we were going to do and the possibility that more repairs might be needed beyond the initial repairs due to age (1997), mileage( 306K) and engine condition.  He elected to proceed with the initial repairs.
We replaced plugs, coil, radiator, water pump and repaired the oil leak. After job completion and during the initial test drive we did not notice any issues with the vehicle.  Everything seemed to be fine.  Mr. [redacted] returned the next day with the same symptoms.
Upon further testing, the misfires continued but on different cylinders.  Upon trying to determine the cause of the misfires, pinpoint testing suggested the possibility of worn springs and potentially worn internal engine components.  Replacing the springs in this vehicle requires a significant amount of time and labor. In good faith, we agreed to replace the worn springs at no cost (parts and labor) to Mr. [redacted].  Unfortunately, the misfires continued.  At this time we recommended to the customer to not proceed spending any additional money on the vehicle as the estimated costs to continue would be significant.  Mr. [redacted] agreed.
Furthermore, there was no mistake on our part.  The initial diagnosis and all the replaced parts were indeed broken and in need of repair.  The fact that additional repairs were needed and not elected by the customer are not cause for validation of a refund.
