July 14, 2017   [redacted] RE: Aspen Dental Account Number [redacted]                   Revdex.com Complaint # [redacted] Dear Mr....

[redacted]: Thank you for sharing your concerns about the balance due for the treatment you received.   I am writing to you on behalf of the Tarentum, PA Aspen Dental branded practice, owned and operated by CHRISTINE A SMITH DMD LLC.  I certainly do apologize for your experience at Tarentum, PA Aspen Dental office. I am in receipt of your complaint filed with the Revdex.com.  I have reviewed it and your Aspen Dental account.   The $54.00 balance due is a result of a balance remaining after your dental insurance paid for the treatment you received in 2013.  No payment was made towards the Core Buildup charge (code 2950) done on August 07, 2013.  The reason given by your dental insurance carrier United Concordia was that you had met your annual maximum.  Aspen Dental received a total of $192.00 from your dental insurance for the services provided to you in July and August 2013.  The $54.00 balance was billed to you on several occasions via invoice along with collection letters being sent.  The balance is accurate and correct; however in response to your complaint and as a courtesy, the balance has been removed.  Enclosed please find an updated copy of your Aspen Dental account ledger history showing a zero balance due. I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to respond to your inquiry.  A copy of this letter has been forwarded to the Revdex.com in response to your complaint.  I am available for any further questions at the below contact information. Sincerely, [redacted] Ron H[redacted]Senior Patient Satisfaction SpecialistAspen Dental Management, Inc.Phone: [redacted]

Review: I have been going to this facility for years. When I retired in 2012 my dental insurance plan changed. I was told by Aspen that the procedures I receive were not covered, but I agreed to pay out of pocket up front. Every time I went I paid what they told me would be the only payment needed However, after a month I would get a bill in the mail with a balance due. This amount would vary. I took the bills to the office and they told me to ignore them that accounting just had not caught up yet. That's what I did. However, on June 22, 2016 I received a Collection Notice from Computer Credit Inc. stating I owed Aspen Dental $55.00 from service date 3-29-16.

On June 27 went to the Tarentum office and asked why I had an outstanding bill. She could not explain and sent an email to corporate and said she would call me back.

Per the Collection Notice I called their toll free number to dispute the validity of the claim. I thought I was talking to another company. but at the end of the call I became aware I was speaking to someone in accounting from the Tarentum office.

During the call I asked what the $55 was for since I paid $280 on 3-29 and was told that was all I would owed. She stated it was from services received on 12-28-15 for $49 that they were still waiting to hear from the insurance company. And I should not be calling Aspen, but the insurance company to complain about their slow response.

She could not explain how it did not add up to $55. And was very irritated during the call. I do not understand why they are waiting for insurance since they are the ones who told me the services were not covered. She told me I had visited the office (the girl sits next to her) and that a message was sent to cooperate. That is when I realized I was speaking to Aspen Dental and not a collection agency. I asked how this would be resolved and she did not know. I told her I considered this billing (and the other throw away ones ) a fraud and would be contacting the Revdex.com.

After the call, I contacted my insurance company. First they stated no claims were submitted for the 3-29 -16 visit. For 12-28-15, they received 2 claims totaling $235. One was rejected on 12-30-15 and the second on 1-7-16. The total I paid on 12-28-15 was $235. So there is no outstanding balance.

For the March appointment I paid up front $280 and did not get an itemized bill. And since the insurance company has no record of a claim for that date, I can't tell what Aspen is waiting for.

To date I have not received a call from Aspen Dental. I have an appointment scheduled July 7 which I intend to cancel. I wonder how many other customers receive such bills and pay without questioning them.Desired Settlement: I expect a letter from Computer Credit Inc stating that the report was incorrect and any reports on my credit ratings were deleted. I also expect a letter from Aspen Dental explaining the errors in their billing practices,

Review: On April 12, 2016 I went to Aspen Dental at [redacted], Tarentum, PA 15084 for an evaluation of having a tooth pulled and having an implant inserted and eventually having a crown installed. They gave be a Treatment and Payment Form with the total amount of their services $1,482.00. I asked if that is the total, with my dental insurance, I would be expected to pay and they reassured be that this is the total amount for their services. I made an appointment for May 4 to have the tooth pulled and the implant inserted. At that time I paid $558.80, which was the agreed upon cost for the services to this point. A month later, in June 2016, I received a balance due for these services of $469.00. I contacted my dental insurance, Guardian, and they informed me that my plan does not pay for implants. The insurance company said Aspen Dental should know this, since they have full access to my benefits. I went to the Tarentum office of Aspen Dental and asked them why I am being charged additionally for this past service. I explained to them what Guardian told me that implants are not covered under my plan. She looked it up and said they are covered and the claim was miss filed. She would have the claim filed again and that I would not have to pay that additional charge. Now, I received a bill from Aspen Dental stating I owe them $1,764.00. They gave me no explanation in the bill except for a note stating "does not provide benefits for this procedure". I feel they pulled the old "bait and switch" on me. They originally stated on my treatment form that the total cost for entire process, tooth removal, inserting the implant and the crown, would be $1,482.00. Now, based on the last billing, I will pay $2,322.80 for just having my tooth pulled and having the implant inserted. This does not include the cost of the crown that I will need that was included in the original quote to me of $1,482.00. I feel this is very unfair in the way they tricked me into believing I would be paying one price and now they are billing me for more then the original agreement. What should I do?Desired Settlement: I would like Aspen Dental to honor their original quote of services to me. If they made a mistake in their charges, they should not pass on their mistakes to their patients. They need to address their staff.

Review: a few month ago I went to aspen cause I was having a lot of pain. they did x rays . ect...at first they was saying I needed complete denturs. I was approved at that time for dental care credit. they wanted 300-400 down. I couldn't come up with that. I have dental insurance. I went back seen another dentist and she said I didn't need to have my top teeth pulled just the bottom.. office manager reaplied for credit. I have paper work. she said I had to have no money down and the payment would be around 60.00 month. I was happy with that. I went two weeks ago. and they did impressions and said that THEY messed up the application and had to do it again. when I was leaving I was told everything was good. made appointment for follow up appoints. I walked in on April 21.2016 and was ask for 1000 and I didn't no what to say. I was called to office manager where I was then told I was denied for credit. I took a whole day off work. lost full days pay. why did they wait to tell me when I got up there. My other problem is there going to charge my insurance for work they did when I had nothing done. My teeth are bad and its causing me health issues. I don't understand how they can do this and get away with it. are they this unorganized that they don't no what there doing. I never received anything stating I was denied. did they ever apply. Aspen dental need to stop these practices but its total unfair. I work full time. pay for my dental insurance out of my paycheck. I live week to week. this isn't right.Desired Settlement: I just want to know that im not going to be charge on my insurance for procedure that they didn't do. I only have so much for a year and I need to find another dentist. If they charge my insurance Ill have to wait even longer to have work done but I will never go back to aspen.
