Review: At the end of my dental exam, I mentioned to Dr S[redacted] that I had slight chipping on my two front teeth and that I was curious about whether anything could be done to fix it. She said, oh yes, I will take care of that and said that she would add a little bit of material to the bottom of my teeth (that probably wouldn't hold, especially because I wear a nightguard that is already fitted to my teeth). She proceeded to spend no more than five minutes of her time to add on some composite material to my teeth...and at some point during this process, asked me if I was doing okay because she said she realized I probably didn't know what she was doing since she didn't go over the procedure with me in advance. From our conversation, I definitely did not expect that there would be a charge associated with the procedure (I had asked her out of curiosity about whether anything could be done to resolve the situation, and was not expecting her to do anything). If there was going to be a charge, she should have told me in advance, and I would have told her I did not want to go forward with the procedure, especially since she did not expect the composite material to hold permanently in any event. In the end, she billed my insurance $950 for the work she did. My insurance covered most of it and I was left with a bill of $190 for the work that was done. In addition, the purpose of my visit with her was to discuss a separate issue with one of my teeth that will need extensive work done. Because she billed my insurance for the $950, (and in doing so, ate up most of my insurance coverage) I now have next to nothing left to cover the work that I actually DO need done.Desired Settlement: Refund of the $190 that I was charged so I can put that money toward the work that I NEED to have done now that you have billed my insurance for work inappropriately and I have no more coverage. Desired outcome would also involve you getting an adjustment with my insurance company for inappropriately billed amounts (i.e., the entire $950).
