Christmas Cars

Review: On 1/25/15, I purchased a 2003 [redacted] from Christmas Cars.It wasn't ready for me to take then, safety features needed to be addressed, spare tire rim, emergency brake. Also back window latch. Told the tires were good. On 1/28/15,picked up car. He informs me then, that spare tire was not ready, e-brake either, but would be fine for me to drive till I came back following week for him to fix them. (I had already sold my existing car). I left, went next door to gas station for gas. There, I checked because of a noise under hood that wasn't there when I purchased it 3 days prior. I discovered a vacuum hose broken, air compressor making noise, and back window latch still not working. (window wouldn't stay shut) That weekend, after snowing, discovered tires were NOT good, as he had said. Had to replace all 4. On 2/5/15, friend of mine brought car back to Christmas Cars to have everything fixed. While there, he watched the mechanic 'tweak' the e-brake & back window latch, (he did fix the hose), and watched as he sprayed lubricant on compressor to 'quiet' it. Spare tire was NOT ready, even though I was told the day before that it was. When the car came back to me, I discovered the emergency brake STILL WAS NOT FIXED, and back window latch STILL DIDN'T work. As I was driving home that night, I heard a 'POP', lost steering, had it towed. Garage said lubricant sprayed on compressor,once dried,caused compressor to seize, broke belt, pulley, & water pump. Numerous calls to Christmas went unanswered. Once they were, my garage tried to work with him, he wouldn't. I finally threatened lawyer, he suddenly said they had 'misunderstood' him, he would work with them. He didn't, then said he would fix car. HE DIDN'T. He never picked up car. Again many calls &texts went unanswered. When he finally did reply, said he would call (2/20/15). Never heard from him again. Had to fix car on my own. This was after my car sat more than 2 wks waiting for Christmas. Plus, I had family emergency, and no car! Had to rent one.Desired Settlement: I would like him to pay for the repairs I incurred due to actions by his mechanic. Also cost of tires, (he misrepresented them). The safety features that he never fixed, my garage did. The towing, and the rental cars I needed for the emergency in [redacted], and to get to work. The $5 remaining that he owed me from purchase. He had no change. I gave him $3,500 for car, when cost was $3,488. $12 change was due. He returned $7 the day my friend took it up there.Total: $2,020.95
