Review: theyare legally reguired to give me 30 day notice of rent increase. they notified me on August 18 2014 days after my lease is up that I have to back pay rent in the amouth of 2096 my lease was 1335. I asked why they did not have to give me 30 days at first they said they do not have to give any notice for a rent increase and then printed a letter and said they put it on the outside of my door in June. Further they were aware of a leakage problem in my apartments from the unit above. they did not fix it and it stained my mattress and comforter. they are not fixing the damage done to my property. when I signed the lease I was also told month to month is around $250 more a month Please also note that I found a notice in my mailbox without postage my mailbox which should be locked and secured obviously was not. The USPS Domestic Mail Manual states that no part of a mail receptacle may be used to deliver any matter not bearing postage, including items of matter placed upon, supported by, attached to, hung from, or inserted into a mail receptacle. In other words, the mailbox may not be used for anything other than for pieces of mail with postage attached. The USPS Domestic Mail Manual goes on to states that it is a federal offense and there is a significant penalty for violating this law. Desired Settlement: I am informing you for the second time that you are required to give me 30 day notice of rent increase. Since your notice occurred after my lease was up on August 18 2014. I will pay the rent increase for month to month starting on September 18th $667 for sept 1st thru the 18th and the three days up to notice then the rate of $2096 a month. I want my matress and comforter also replaced.
