Review: Came, priced job to repair shower. Said he would repair shower for $160.00. Started repair left job said he would be back in a week and it took him 4 weeks to return. Finished job and wife ask if the $160.00 was right - he said no it was $250.00 and he would not give her a receipt. He gave no paperwork at all. We do have her cancel check.

He was reminded that he said $160.00 to repair shower and still said bill was $250.00. Told him that was wrong and would not do what he said he would do quoted price for!!Desired Settlement: Refund the $90.00 he over charged!!!

Response:

I priced a job that consisted of removing a shower door & frame and filling the six screw holes that held the door frame to the shower. That was quoted at $160.00, approximately 2-21/2 hrs labor. Upon removing the shower door frame, the bottom track, over a period of time, allowed water to penetrate and sit there causing a substantial amount of mold&mildew to accumulate which stained the gelcoat on the dam . I tried to clean and sand the stain out, but it was embedded into the gelcoat. I showed the wife the problem I run into and explained that I would have to respray the gelcoat over the entire dam to cover the stain if she couldn't deal with the way it looked, and that would take more time to fix ,approximately 2-3hrs. She told me to do so.In the middle of doing the repairs, the wife ask me how much longer it would be before I was finished, I responded that it was going to be at least a couple more hours, she said that I needed to leave, because she had to go to bed,to be at work early the next morning, (I work on tubs during the week after 5pm and on Saturday, because I have a full time job and only do tub repair part time). I had got the screw holes filled ,but they needed more touching up,I explained to the customer she could use the shower like it was,she told me that I would need to come on a Friday or Saturday due to her work schedule. I informed her that I was was extremely busy,& that I would try to come back the following week, I called the customer the following week to come out to finish repair, they told me it was not a good day because they were going out to dinner,I called the following day ,didn't get a answer,I made several attempts to reach the customer, when I don't get a response,I move to the next one on my list,I made more calls to the customer on a couple of tries, the call went thru ,I could hear the husband but he couldn't hear me, waited a day or so call again same thing happened, I could hear him,but he couldn't hear me. I had been using my phone for other calls with no problems so I assumed it was his land line.when I finally got a opening and was able to get thru to the customer I finished the job on a Saturday. The wife ask me how much for the job,I said $250.00,she said that I quoted $160.00 , I explained that was just for door, and frame removal and filling screw holes, since I had to repair the mold and mildew damage on the bottom it would be $250.00 ,she wrote me a check and didn't mention a word about being upset about price difference. I pride myself on being open, honest, and up front with my business,if she had a problem she could have told me right then and there, and we could have worked it out, customer service and satisfaction is more important than the money to me!!! As far as the receipt issue, she didn't ask for one ,most people use their check as a receipt, since it was their home I don't believe I ask if she wanted a invoice,I would have gladly given her one. Please let me know that you received the letter and what the next step is , I don't appreciate negative comments about me when they are not warranted..
