Initial Business Response /* (1000, 19, 2015/10/15) */
My manager spoke with Ms.[redacted] on multiple occasions. Ms. [redacted] told her that she and a family member disagreed on where the event should be held. I asked the manager to explain to her that we do not refund deposits unless we did something...

wrong. Ms [redacted] then called my 82-year old mother, who manages our wine store, and got belligerent with her, threatening to sue me, among other things. I did not return the call because I did not want to engage in an argument with her. The purpose of a deposit is to make sure that we don't book the room to someone else, and to make sure that the customer is serious about the event and is not going to cancel, causing us to potentially lose other bookings. We did nothing to cause them to cancel; it apparently was a lack of communication among family members that caused them to cancel. If we had made a mistake of some kind, I would refund the money.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 21, 2015/10/16) */
The opera house has never rented out the main dining room since they have been in existence. The request was made 30 day prior to the event there is no contract stating no refunds. I did not and have never threatened anyone in any way and find that a slander apon my good name I am a retired police Dept servant and it is in no way my nature.if I'd have had 2 cancel a year ahead of time her response would be the same. It is now clear to me that no one is thinking about how hard it is to place that kind of a deposit in these times and it not be refunded for no purpose. Thank you to the Revdex.com for trying to help us simple folk get what we deserve.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 23, 2015/10/20) */
We actually have rented out Cafe 37 many times (especially on Sundays). Our policy has always been that deposits are non-refundable, which is standard policy in the catering industry. My manager and mother both said you threatened to take me to court and turn me into the Revdex.com. I am wondering why you placed a deposit without making sure all family members were in agreement?
Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 25, 2015/10/22) */
