Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Manitowoc Reviews (%countItem)

Van Horn of Manitowoc did warranty work on axle seals of Jeep Wrangler that resulted in damage to bearing, ring and pinion, Tru Trac, and now will not correct issue. Jeep was drove problem free for months and thousand of miles. When replace work was done on seal, the problem started and was taken back immediately. Repair was made the following day, and problem came back in front axle in about a month time, that the service manager and general manager refused to correct.

While Van Horn certainly sympathizes with our customer, Van Horn is not the reason or cause of his issue. The customer brought his vehicle in for service and admitted to buying an aftermarket ring & pinion on Amazon. The customer also admitted that someone else installed it—not Van Horn. The parts were already failing and damaged when the vehicle was brought into our service department. Unfortunately, the manufacturer warranty will not cover the aftermarket part. We have pictures of what it looked like when our tech took it apart that are attached to this response.

My son purchased a vehicle from Van Horn in Manitowoc and after 2 week with the vehicle the brakes and tie rods need to be replaced and they are not covering the amount of the repairs. They told him nothing of the issues when he purchased the vehicle.

This whole entire issue is going to be taken care and is resolved.

I purchased a 2016 chrysler 200 back in June of 2019 from Van Horn First Chrysler. With winter coming up I took the car to a local tire place to buy winter tires for the car. Upon talking to the sales person at the tire place it turns out the tires that came with the vehicle I purchased were 2 sizes too small for the car which he stated was illegal to be sold and also a safety concern. He gave me the info on the tires that were on the car and the info on the tires that should be on the car and I took that info to the dealership where I purchased the car. Upon arrival at the dealership I was greeted promptly and I voiced my concern. He took me to the back where I was told to pick out a set of tires which I did. The service tech then went to get a manager to finish the process. The manager came back and told me the tires on the car were fine and he didnt have to pay for new tires because I wanted them. I expressed my concern for the legality of the situation and that the dealership was liable for anything that would happen due to the wrong size tires on the car. I also explained that the tires were not being replaced for any wear and tear reasons just that it needed tires for the winter. He wouldnt listen to anything I had to say about my concerns about my safety or the safety of anyone in the vehicle. He proceeded to tell me he wasnt paying for the tires so I left to go back and order new tires from the tire place. He came out of the building while I was getting into the vehicle at which time I told him I didnt have time to argue because the tire place was closing and I needed to get tires ordered as soon as possible so he turned and went back into the building.

These guys will rip you off if you don't look at the numbers. I gave them what my payment budget was and what I wanted for my trade. I was negotiable on the trade but not if I was buying new. My credit is fair so I wasn't going to get the best interest rate. However what I go was a payment was $400.00 over my budgeted amount, $2000.00 less for my trade from what I was told from the salesman and a over priced car and inflated interest rate. They don't listen and do whatever they want so buyer beware they will not work for you. Only for themselves and run your credit 11 times!!

I purchased a vehicle at *** and paid for licence plates. The dealer sent me plates via FedEx and the plates are not even registered to the correct vehicle per the DMV. So I am now currently driving around with a non-registered vehicle that I paid for and paid for plates but they have not given me a correct set of plates.

Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Manitowoc Response • Oct 30, 2018

Please rest assured your vehicle plates are registered with the DMV. Our team processed a temporary plate on Saturday (October 27) and was able to deliver the tag to your home. We apologize for any confusion on our end. If you have any other questions please reach out to our team at ***.

*** knowingly gave me bad plates the first time according to the gentleman that dropped off my temporary plates. Per that gentleman he stated that *** regularly give out non registered plates. I drove for nearly a month not knowing I had plates that were not registered. I dove illegally fully unaware of what I was, doing because I trusted *** to supply me with good plates. I expect some sort of compensation for the stress, headaches, and extra time invested on researching my fake plates I was issued. And I do not want any compensation in the former of having to go back to obtain it from that dealer. i.e. gift card from ***.Regards

My son saw a car they had advertised on the Internet as well as their own website. According to Cars.com the price was reduced to $16,804 from $18,968. (Same as their own website.) It's certainly not unusual for dealers to mark down cars to move them. My son set up an appt to visit (from Chicago) to meet with a sales rep specifically to discuss and buy this vehicle, but when he got there, after the test drive and in price negotiations wouldn't go lower than $18,750. Said they must have made a mistake with the pricing on the Internet. (I took photos of the 2 websites to verify the pricing.) Thank goodness my son walked out. I called the GM (Rodney) just to see how they would handle. Basically he specifically stated he knew there might be some backlash (probably social media) but wouldn't honor the price as stated. Never even offered anything in return for son's time and effort and waste of a day, other than an apology. I understand people make mistakes, but when the sales rep knows you are coming to visit and doesn't even look at the vehicle or knows if that was the wrong price and call, it's just simple customer service and courtesy. I suspect it is a poorly run operation, please be careful and call to confirm pricing before you leave your house!! There are way to many other reputable dealerships to buy from. Just be careful with this dealership!!

They sold me a 2014 Dodge Journey in July 2016, that I paid for in cash. They never disclosed that it had been in an accident, even though I had requested a Carfax report. I recently moved to another state and upon attempting to register the vehicle, I was informed that the VIN on the driver door (that was replaced in the accident I didn't know about) did not match the VIN in the windshield. Due to having two different VIN's, I am unable to register my vehicle. I cannot drive a vehicle without valid registration, and as a result, I am also without transportation. I have contacted the dealership and Rodney, the sales manager, refuses to return my calls. The driver door needs to be replaced with the correct information, as this was an egregious error by the dealership. I now question if it was a legitimate repair, with parts that did not come from a stolen vehicle.

Thank you for reaching out and we apologize for any confusion. The last thing we want is for you to walk away from our dealership with negative feelings about your experience. Attached you’ll find documentation from your purchase which includes a disclosure regarding the accident. Our dealership’s goal is to be as transparent as possible with any history on a vehicle that we’ve been provided with prior to completing a transaction. We contacted the New Mexico DMV and were able to discover that you’re not prevented from titling and registering the vehicle, but an inspection needs to be completed by the state police department. Our team wants to provide any help we can with registering the vehicle in another state. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance in that process.

I was informed that the vehicle had been repaired on the rear of the vehicle; never that that the driver door had been replaced. The level 3 VIN inspection that the state of New Mexico requires before I am able to title and register my vehicle, does not have any available appointments before December of 2018. My registration expires in April. That is 8 months of not being able to drive the only vehicle I have because of this issue.
