I contracted with this company to build a screened porch. Work is shoddy and not up to code.I contracted with CPR to build a screened porch on an existing deck at my home in Dec 2015, to be completed in early Jan 2016. After many excuses and delays, work was finally started in April/May 2016, but is incomplete and of poor quality. CPR did not pull a permit for the work and told me one was not required. I had many conversations with the owner asking for the issues to be addressed without any luck, and his carpenter finally told me he would not be sending anyone back out even though I had already paid in full. I hired a Structural Engineer to inspect the porch and was told it would need several modifications to come up to code. He called the work "shoddy" and said the carpenter lacked skill and knowledge.I am extremely dissatisfied with the porch and with the service I received from CPR. I feel CPR misrepresented its ability/willingness to provide an acceptable product.Desired SettlementThe resolution I am seeking is to be reimbursed for: 1) the cost of the additional work required to get this structure up to code 2) the cost of the Engineer's reportBusiness Response We had originally painted this clients home and afterwards she contacted us regarding building her a screen room. She had a very small budget to work with. There were delays due to the fact that my former business partner was to have built the screen room and he and I parted ways. We also had a very harsh winter and Mother Nature played a big part also in delays. I finally hired a crew to come out there to do the work. Prior to allowing the work to be done, she had to sign a performance sheet and drawing from the sub contractor to approve the work, it showed exactly what was to be so there was no he said she said scenarios. As the job was progressing she had made many changes to the original scope of work, yet no money was added on until the end. I only charged her an additional $ 1000.00 which she still owes, that was not even my cost but I felt bad as she cried poverty. We rebuilt her deck, stairs and rails at no additional charge. She and the sub contractor eventually disagreed and he left the job after doing many additional items to the structure. These were never part of my contract. In the beginning, she mentioned she had a budget of under $8000.00. What we did for her in removing the original substrate and what we built her, that should have been well over $15,000.00. She also didn't want to hire an engineer and have a permit pulled because it wasn't in her budget, and it states on my contract t NO PERMIT. We did for the most part a great job. There are still some work left to do, to reinforce the beams and supports utilizing braces. She decided to hire someone else to finish the project in lieu of the money owed and I agreed. therefore, I do not beieve any monies are owed to her and I do wish her the best.

Business took over $9000 deposit for 2 jobs. Walked out of the first job without finishing it. Kept deposit for second job after it was cancelled.I hired Churchill for 2 jobs and paid them over $9000 for a deposit. When a pair of diamond earrings disappeared after 2 days of their being here, I decided to cancel the floor job (no proof that they took them; police closed the case). At the end of 4 days, everyone left and the owner said they would never come back. Everything was a total wreck. I had to hire someone else to finish painting and he was appalled at the state of my house. He was looking around and discovered they had used cheap paint on the walls when my contract specified high quality. They had also promised 2 coats and parts of some walls didn't even have one. They had slopped white paint on the blue wall in my dining room. They didn't put any plastic on the floor when they spray painted my ceilings. I later found out that spray painting ceilings is not a best practice. There was spray paint and wall paint all over my hardwood floors. All my furniture and belongings were left in the middle of each room. Both my new floor guy and my new painter said it was the worst paint job they'd ever seen. I had to pay the new painter to repaint my entire house with quality paint. The Churchill crew left their cans at my house so I do have proof that they used the wrong paint. I never had a walk through or signed off on anything. However, the owner of the company decided he would keep the money I had paid him as a deposit for the floor. He was very upset when he thought I had cancelled the 2 checks I had paid him for the floors. I told him they had cleared my bank, but he asked how I could know that unless I had called to cancel them. I guess he never uses online banking. Of course I have proof that the checks had been cashed. I wrote him and asked him for a full refund for both jobs. No response. Then [redacted] tried for a r$esolution but no response to that and the case is left unresolved on their site. They told me my other resources were the Revdex.com and the attorney general, hence this review. All the work(?) they did occurred between May 31 - June 3rd. I have copies of the contracts and the amounts paid along with bank records for the 3 checks. The checks were for $4000.00 on April 22, 2016, for $4700.00 on May 31, 2016, and for 602.00 on June 2, 2016. I also have many witnesses and pictures of the mess I was left with. Desired SettlementI would like a full refund of $9302. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]I contracted with [redacted] to paint the entire inside of her house including all walls ceiling and trim. We purchased from [redacted] the cashmere line of paint which is their second best product that they make, we left the paint at her house which I have pictures of the 5 gallon bucket's that we purchased which was purchased in her name in these pictures. She alleged that somebody stole a pair of earrings, I contacted the police as I've never had and 49 years in business somebody ever accuse my team or my guys individually of stealing anything ever. The police did their investigation and drop the case seven days later. [redacted] also claims that we did such a horrible job using the cheapest possible paint that money could buy that she had to hire somebody to come in and repaint the entire house. I too have before during and after pictures not only showing the great work that we did but also showing the paint that was being utilized on our house. We did in fact leave the furniture and belongings tarp and plastic golf in the center of the room as we do with every house because we did not come in there to finish putting it back together. She was having the flooring completely redone and new flooring installed where the carpet was. We were told don't worry because the flooring was being done the very next day. She claimed other things were stolen from her house and as fast as she said that things were missing my teammates found the items and handed them to her. Apparently whoever went in there to give her a price to do whatever work that she thought she wanted done took advantage of this woman in distress in her mind and sold her to redo the entire house which we had just completed, I had six men in there for nine hours a day for four straight days and we did A very very good job again I have pictures to show this. She is asking for money for alleged earrings that were allegedly stolen that were in and more proven proven not to have been by the police department. She also would not allow us to come back to finish the little bit of trim that was not done as all the ceilings and walls were completed. Due to the fact that she would not allow us to come back to her house to finish the little bit of work that was left she decided to call in a painter who lied to her. Proof is in the pudding as they say. I am not offering this woman anything as she broke our contract terms by not giving us notification in writing which voided any and all claims against us. The earrings were not stolen per the police investigation therefore I owe her nothing for her earrings. I feel bad for this woman is I believe she has some issues and all I can say is I wish it turned out better but legally speaking I owe her nothing and there is nothing for me to do at her house. Consumer Response I emailed my new painter after reading your reply to my review.I said:"I've been pursuing my case against Churchill. I've written a review on[redacted] and Revdex.com. In both cases [redacted] (the owner) says I'm lying and that you took advantage of me by telling me their paint job was no good. I'm going to push on with the attorney general and then a lawyer. I wondered if you'd be willing to give evidence in an affidavit. I will talk to the lawyer first tho and see what we need. His reply:"Sure no problem, also I have pictures and video of it as well. And their paint job wasn't just bad. In my 26 years of painting, I've never seen anything like it."As for written notice, you ordered your people out of my house and said they would never come back. I also have a text from you stating that you were letting me out of my floor contract. You kept the deposit I gave you for that (5300). You also kept the deposit I gave you for a paint job (4000) that consisted of cheap paint. I still have one of the cans. I was actually floored when my new painter told me what you had done. I could see with my own eyes that my walls were a mess, but I never thought you were cheating me by using the wrong paint. You say you bought good paint in my name. Unfortunately, you didn't use it on my house. I will never get my earrings back. Your manager told me the name of the guy he suspected. I did ask your guys if they had seen him walk out on the day my earrings disappeared. I didn't see some small speakers I had just bought and thought maybe he could have taken those too. However, they were in plain sight in another room, your guys pointed them out, and I was glad they hadn't been taken. I thought my old iPhone was missing, but found that myself a few days later. I always told your guys I didn't suspect them of anything. I thought it was the guy who never came back after the disappearance. However, there is no proof. I've already said that. So this complaint is not about my earrings. This complaint is about the subpar paint job and the floor job that was never even started. You also mistreated me by yelling at me on the phone. Your guys even lied and said I cancelled your checks. As we both know, I never did that.Luckily, I work in quality assurance for research and development at a large software company in Cary. My job is to find any evidence that our software could have bugs. There are times that the software developers say there is no bug - it's user error. Sometimes it is, but I'm pretty good at presenting evidence and we usually find there is a real problem. It might take a while to gather all the relevant info, but I don't give up. If I save someone else some pain, that will be good too.I've also read other negative reviews about you and your company. I'm not alone. Final Business Response Once again, this is a he said she said scnario. we had the police called to do an investagation. Items were missing and we were accused of stealing the. We found and she found everything but these alledged earrings. They closed the case based upon facts.I had my guys there from Tuesday 8am to 7 pm everyday through Friday, which they left @7pm. No one ordered them out of there . They stayed and did as much as they could do. There wasn't much left but to move the furniture back and finish a small amount of baseboards to paint. I too have before, during and after pictures including pictures showing the paint that was used on her walls and trim. we did use ceiling paint which is different than wall paint, that's where this other painter assumed that we used all areas. There is no doubt in mind and through our pictures that we did a great job there. This woman is looking for money for no reason and I do not beileve anything she says as everything had been a lie or we were blamed for things that never happened. My guys did in fact say they wouldn't go back due to the fact that all she did for two days was cry, cry and cry and belittle the company. That did not include my entire team that wasn't there. I had more people working for me at that time and she didn't allow us to come back.I am not offering her anything. I used her deposit for the flooring that was given for final payment on the balance of the paint job and cancelled her floor contract which I didn't have to do legally speaking.I look forward to a battle if need be with a judge and the truth will come out.

Churchill Painting and Restoration would not return to fix defective caulking and siding installation despite numerous phone calls and texts.Churchill Painting and Restoration painted the exterior of my house and replaced several damaged siding pieces in August of 2015. After a few months I noticed several areas where the caulking between the siding pieces had either cracked or was missing altogether. There were also siding pieces that had had become loose and were in danger of falling on to my rear deck. I told [redacted], the owner, about thses issues and he assured me that he would be over as soon as possible to fix this. Despite numerous calls and texts from me, the only thing I got from him were more empty promises to fix the problems. It has now been almost four months since I made him aware of theswe problems and still no solution.Desired SettlementI want Churchill Painting and Restoration to come back and fix the problems I mentioned earlier.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@churchillpainting.comWe painted this clients exterior, fixed a lot of bad wood and painted the inside of his house including the 3 car garage and fixed some major repairs that we found. We did a great job. It's been almost a year since we did the work. He called me about 2 pieces of wood that alledgedly 8 months later has failed. I said we would get there and the rain that we have had over the last month or so has prevented me from getting to it. I understand he is frustrated and I will take care of it.Consumer Response The statement from Churchill is false. They did not paint the interior of my house or garage. I do not have a three car garage. My complaint was primarily about defective caulking. I did complain also that two of the siding boards were loose. I don't know what "wood " he''s talking about. [redacted] promised to come to my house this past Monday and today (Wednesday). He did not show or call either time. He does have a long list of excuses , however. Final Business Response Today is June 2, I am going to see this man today and have the issues that are issues addressed and fixed by the end of next week. I do apologize for the delay.

The company will not come back to my house and resolve issues as well as finish the job they promised. On July 7, 2014, this company came out and scraped my ceiling and fixed/painted the walls. The company got 90 percent of the repairs done and could not finish the work due to humidity issues was causing repairs not to stay. My wife followed up via email with company owner in October as well as in January with no response. The first week of March 2015, I called the owner and he advised me that he could get to me in the next 2 weeks but would call me and let me know exact day. 3 weeks went by with no contact by company owner to get resolved. I contacted the owner at the end of March and he again advised me he will call me within next 2 weeks to get job finished. I still did not hear anything for a month from the company. I called twice this week and left a message to call me back. I spoke to owner today who advised me again that he will call me next week. I advised him that I would like to get an exact date his company will be at my house to finish the job since he has not been calling me back and I have to call him to try to get things done. He could not give me a date and I advise him that I was not satisfied with the company customer service and the work he performed at my house. He called me "a piece of [redacted]" and was incredibly unprofessional the way he handled this matter.Desired SettlementWe paid this company $6250 already and are looking for $750 refund of the money we paid out, since I will have to hire another company to finish the job. I will never use this company again due to unethical practices and unprofessional behavior.Business Response /[redacted]/I agree with Mr [redacted] that we did complete most of the job when we were contracted to do so. We did remove all popcorn from the ceilings in his home as well as paint the entire house. This man is an insurance adjuster for a one of the largest national chains and handles exterior and interior damage claims, for a living so he understands how this type of work should be done.. We did a great job for them, however we had difficulties during the spackling part on his family room ceiling which is 20 feet high. We tried many times to get it to hold but due to severe humidity and very unusual hot days it just wasn't holding. We agreed that we would come back in 3/5 months once the weather was cooler and they had the time to do it. When we had the time to do it after hearing from his wife, we were hit with ice storms, snow and bad traveling conditions for almost 1 month. Then we were very busy and I was trying to accamodate. It was a mistake in not reaching out and scheduling a date to finish and that I do apologize for.Mr [redacted] called me early this past Saturday morning to yell and belittle me. He said we did SHODDY work and he was reporting me to the Revdex.com, and all social media . I told him we could get there this week. At the same time if we did such SHOODY work like he mentioned and was going to plaster bad things all over the internet then why would he want us back at his house.I actually set up to have him on the schedule for Monday afternoon and come Monday morning I seen this posted here on Revdex.com. I cancelled my crew from going there to finish the work which he still owes us money for. I will nor tolerate someone telling me that we do SHODDY work and yeel and belittle me, I may have used some choice words and for that I do apologize, but for nothing more. They actually still owe us money and either they can keep it and use that for someone else to finish a very small area or we can come back. I made mentioned to his wife that I will have my partner come back and he can finish this out as I thought it would be in all's best interest for me not to have anymore communication with them.Mrs [redacted] signed a completion certificate for all work that was done except for the one area on the ceiling. I once agian will say I will defend my company from anyone saying that we do SHODDY work. My father started this company 49 years agao and I will not have his name harmed by those words, especially when it's not true.Consumer Response /[redacted]/I am following up on this issue with Churchill Painting and Renovation as it has not been resolved. My wife spoke to [redacted] on 5/4/15, one of the owners, and was advised he would come out to the house on 5/5/15 to view the issues. The business never came out and my wife has been trying to reach [redacted] to get this resolved. We are interested in give the company a chance to complete the work as well as any warranty issues in a timely manner. I would be willing to retract this complaint if the company will complete the job in a timely manner. The company has my wife's information so [redacted] can contact her to get issues resolved if company willing to get resolved.Final Business Response /[redacted]/We are willing to come back and fix the areas that need to be addressed. Please let us know when your schedule will permit this to happen.Thank you,[redacted]

Failure to remove paint from carpeting after job was completed.I hired Mr. [redacted] of Churchill Painting and Restoration to paint my bathroom ceiling. His company used spray paint, and overall I'm satisfied with the job. However, when his crew was leaving, they accidently sprayed a line of white paint across my carpet, and also got paint on my teak dresser and soundbsr speaker grill. After several calls, Mr. [redacted] came out, and used a product (Lift-Off) to satisfactorily remove the paint from the dresser and soundbar, but there is still a streak of paint on my carpet (which he also worked on). I contacted Mr. [redacted], and was told that since I "messed with it", his company was no longer responsible for fixing the problem. I explained to Mr. [redacted] that I had only run the vacuum over the carpet (where the paint had dried for over a week). He told me he would be out Friday (XX-XX) at 9AM. I called at 10:15, and got his voicemail. I left a message reminding him of the appointment, but never heard back. I contacted Mr. [redacted] and let him know the situation. He said he would "reach out to Mr. [redacted]", who I could hear was in the same office. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and waited until today to submit this complaint, in case they finally called. They did not. I said that the chemical Mr. [redacted] used on the carpet partially worked, and may work completely if they used it again in conjunction with steam cleaning. Again, I never heard back. I am not going to take responsibility for a problem caused by his workers. I mentioned to them that if I didn't get a response, I would file this complaint. Apparently, they don't care.Desired SettlementTo restore the carpet to it's original condition, or provide a partial refund (minimum $200.00), so I can purchase this product and hire a steam carpet cleaner company myself.Business Response /[redacted]/Mr [redacted],After the project was completed at your home, you called regarding a concern for some paint drippings on your carpet and furniture. I advised you as you stated in your complaint not to touch the carpet and if you did we wouldn't be responsible. My partner [redacted] came to address the issues, apparently you had already cleaned the furniture and the carpet as you mentioned to him, you said it took you 4 hours. The carpet appeared to be cleaned. [redacted] did appease you and cleaned the area in front of you and you were satisfied at that point. [redacted] explained to me that there was nothing on the carpet. He wouldn't have left if there was anything remaining on the carpet. After he left you continued to call and say there were still spots on the carpet. We will not return as we cleaned the area and there was nothing there, if there were still paint drippings on the carpet why would you let us leave your home just to come back to do it again. I feel with the medication and the drinking that you are doing your judgement is being affected. We appreciated your business, but there is no reason to come back. [redacted] even took a picture of the area in case you had a problem after the fact, like you now do.Best regards,[redacted]Churchill Painting & RenovationsConsumer Response /[redacted]/Mr. [redacted],My complaint wasn't for "some paint drippings", it was for the fact that there was a 4inch by 4 foot line of spray paint on my carpet, and additional paint spattered on my teak dresser and soundbar grill cloth. I told Mr [redacted] that I spent over 2 1/2 hours with a damp paper towel trying to remove some of the spatters on my wood dresser. I did NOTHING to the carpet, except run a vacuum over it after the paint had dried for an entire week, in hopes some of it would come up. I did this after several calls trying to get someone out to fix this. At the time Mr [redacted] left, the dresser and grill cloth were fine, and I thought the carpet was OK, but it was still wet from the cleaner he used. When I looked at it the next day, after it dried, you could still see the painted area. There are several small areas within the long streak that are clean, but this process needs to be repeated for the remainder (most of it). I asked you several times to come out and look at it, but was ignored, as were my voicemail messages.I will NOT consider this case resolved until the remainder of the paint is removed from my carpet.Yours Truly,[redacted]Ps...I'm very happy with the job you did painting my bathroom ceiling.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)I accept your request to remove the remaining paint on my carpet. I also request that this area (and same room) be steam cleaned (if the color is different from the rest of the room)so the entire room matches (color wise).Thank you,[redacted] Final Business Response /[redacted]/Mr [redacted],I will attempt one more time to come there and take a look at the area in question. If I see what you are seeing, we will be happy to remove the paint. I can be there along with Mr [redacted], my partner on November 25th between 9/930 am. If that works please let me know.Thank you,[redacted]Churchill Painting & RenovationsXXX-XXX-XXXX

Company not honoring 2 year guarantee. Have been telling they will get the work done for 7 months.Churchill was to replace some of the siding and paint exterior of home. When they said they were finished I had to point out several spots and the trim paint was two different shades of brown. The siding around fireplace was to be replaced and it wasn't and a piece near gutter was never fixed. On top of that since they did work at our house several electrical outlets are no longer working. I've been in contact with the owner since September 2014. It took several emails from me to get them over and check work which was in November 2014. I was told the work would be done in December but no one showed. The constant excuse has been the weather. I told the owner we needed work done because we are selling the house and he replied, "I thought you were staying." I finally called and spoke with owner and again he said they would get work done. Of course no one has shown up yet and it's now April. I find this to be poor customer service for a company that so called highly rated.Desired SettlementWe are trying to place house on market and need work done immediately.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@churchillpainting.comWe would be happy to schedule this to be done during the week of April 20th. We had this scheduled many times, however everytime that we did it either rained. snowed or ice was a factor or was too cold. Consumer Response /[redacted]/It would be nice to have a confirmed date because people could be look at the house being that it goes on the market this week. Please let us know exactly when your coming. Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/Thank you for reaching out to me. The company did come and touched up a few of the issues. I wouldn't say they did it with great craftsmanship, looks like they just did a quick job. Very disappointed with the results of their work and the fact it took them seven months to get back over and finish the work. Thanks for the help.
